[Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

I found the original one pretty neat, let’s see how this goes...

To quote the legendary Riosix:

It's a treasure hunt using your Hearthstone card collection. I'll start it off with a riddle, and you try to figure out what card I'm talking about. First one to answer correctly picks a new card and makes the next riddle. Make it as difficult as you want, just not impossible :)

I’ll start with:

Alone I’m quite fearsome,

you better watch out,

but doubled I’m more than tripled,

and my gurgle - a mighty shout.

  • Maybe my reasoning is quite wrong.

    Al'Akir the Windlord?

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

    Nope.

Hint: All the cards have a certain mechanic/engineer theme.

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar
  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

    No.

The riddle is probably too vague, my bad. It's been a while since my last one. Some big tips coming up to make things clearer:

    Show Spoiler
The first card was a part of a powerful meta deck in the distant past. I'd say it's still an OK card (but I'm no pro), just really unsupported.

The second card gave a buff to all cards of a certain kind, but it wasn't in either of the two mech-centered expansions.
(Think: what expansion actually has a technological device in its name?)

The third one is in Battlegrounds, but mostly used as a tech card.

If you look at the three cards, you can see that something appears in each one indicating the final card.

  • Wow, that's still tough even with these hints.

It took me longer than I'd like to admit, but the second card should be Hobart Grapplehammer.

I'm pretty sure the first card is from Goblins vs Gnomes and I wasn't around at that time. There are five Weapons in that set plus 5 more cards that interact with Weapons. The one that stands out to me is Tinker's Sharpsword Oil because it still sees some use in Kingsbane Rogue lists. No idea if it was good in the past.

The third card should be from The Boomsday Project and there are only 6 of those in Battlegrounds, but I never play BG and have no clue which of them could be considered a tech card. None of them prevents Deathrattles at first glance. Annoy-o-Module has a weapon in hand, but that's all I found which might have anything to do with Hobart Grapplehammer.

Conclusion: Tinker's Sharpsword Oil + Hobart Grapplehammer + Annoy-o-Module = no idea. Probably Nr. 1 and/or Nr. 3 are wrong.

Again, I hope my thought process helps someone else. I'm out of my league here because of the GvG meta and BG parts.

  • Maybe the first one is Blingtron 3000

  • I think it's Wrenchcalibur

For the previous hint I take: Cogmaster's Wrench + Hobart Grapplehammer + Zapp Slywick

The first one, really no idea if it was a good card actually, but it would fit the theme.

The second one I take from @anchorm4n because it didn't come to mind at all.

And I'm almost sure of the "nasty rattles" part is focused on killing Baron with Zapp.

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

Fedrion has it 99% right, so I'm counting that as correct.

It's Cogmaster's Wrench! anchorm4n got Hobart and Fedrion got Zapp, but the first one was the Cogmaster himself (played in Mech Mage). What connects them is that they all have Cogmaster's Wrench in the art (well, Cogmaster technically doesn't, but he's literally in the weapon's name).

  • Nice! Really good and hard riddle, and the battlegrounds part was a really nice addition.

I forgot the part of "none of them are in standard", I just thought the first 3 leading to the final answer weren't.

It makes much more sense the way you thought it.

    Here I go:

    Let's go, let's go! There's little time!

We must reach it before it's too late

Oh no, oh no, it's still not done

And the deck approaches its end.

I've played all my cards, and at last we have it in hand

    But now I'll die anyways...

What did I have in mind when I put in my deck

That murloc from the Hall of Fame...

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

Coldlight Oracle. Or this riddle about another card?

  • Yeah, it's about an interaction with Coldlight Oracle and the riddle card.

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar
  • Nope

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar
  • I’m guessing between Shadowstep and Corrupt the Waters (shaman quest from Uldum)

  • Going by feel alone, I'll guess C'Thun, the Shattered

  • Or maybe Tip the Scales ...?

  • Is it Tess? Ok I am done with guesses now XD

  • So far, nope lol

    Hint time:

    Show Spoiler
The card is counter intuitive and dangerous to play if you played Coldlight Oracle at least once and you are in fatigue.

    Bigger hint:

    Show Spoiler
    It's not Yogg btw.

  • Exactly!

  • Wanted: The King of the Sun

    Hint 1: He has a son;

    A most royal guy

With his head in the sky.

    Hint 2: He has a stick;

A dangerous one which got banned with a kick.

    Hint 3: Beware of his trap;

Better send out a scout or you'll get caught with a snap.

  • None of those. The riddle is structured like some of the last ones: each hint is another card and if you compare them, they point you to the solution.

  • Game has turned back into a Mensa meeting again lately. Darn my dumb brain!!!

  • I'm sorry that you feel that way. I honestly think the first three cards aren't very difficult to guess, making the connection to the final solution is admittedly a bit harder.

If you would tell us about your thought process, I could tell you where you're right or wrong, even if that means someone else might snatch the win. Should I give out more hints already?

  • I’m having trouble with the second hint... it makes me think of a weapon (obviously), and plenty of weapons have seen nerfs, but a BANNED one? Hmmmm

    • Quote From Live4vrRdieTryn

Game has turned back into a Mensa meeting again lately. Darn my dumb brain!!!

I’d still say this is probably the most active forum game on the website, so we’re in pretty good shape lol

    • Quote From DestroyerR

I’m having trouble with the second hint... it makes me think of a weapon (obviously), and plenty of weapons have seen nerfs, but a BANNED one? Hmmmm

The second one is not a Weapon

  • Still, I can’t think of any card that was actually banned

  • It has not been literally "banned", but got excluded from a certain format.

  • I'm still mulling over the first and second clues, but I have a hunch that the second refers to Pogo-Hopper? What that means for the King of the Sun, I'm unsure.

  • I don't want this thread to die because I'm not capable of presenting a good riddle, so here are some heavy hints for the three parts of the riddle and the final solution.

    Part 1:

    Show Spoiler
What do you call a "royal son"? That's half of the first card's name.

    Part 2:

    Show Spoiler
I hope everyone has figured out by now that "banned" references to the Hall of Fame. Which HoF card is oftentimes called *another card* on a stick? That's number 2.

    Part 3:

    Show Spoiler
Probably the hardest one with only a loose connection to the final solution. The "trap" indicates what card type it is. Which one would you test with a scout? Now you've got number 3.

    Final solution:

    Show Spoiler
Those three cards are linked by their effect, but they all do it in a somewhat roundabout way. There's one iconic HS card that shares this trait in a more direct style. This is the solution.

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

    1 - Prince

2 - Most likely this is an American phrasing and I can't understand this. Maybe Coldlight Oracle

    3 - Snipe

    Trade Prince Gallywix?

      1 - Prince

      3 - Snipe

      Trade Prince Gallywix?

1 - Correct, but your looking for a card. Which of the HS Prince cards might have "his head in the sky"?

2 - It's HS phrasing... It describes an effect that is attached to a minion, like Coldlight Oracle would be Arcane Intellect on a stick (if it would draw only for you). I can't give you more details without giving away the solution, sorry.

3 - Good guess, but it's not a Hunter secret. There's another, very similar card.

Final guess is also incorrect, but I think we're getting there.

  • The more hints given out the more confusing it gets!

I'm not a fan of these compound ones where you need to guess 3 other cards before you get at it, it's tedious.

Hash tag thumbs down to that

  • Alright, I'm sorry. If this isn't solved or very close to solved by 8 pm CET (which is in about 11 hours from now), I'll give you the solution and the next riddle is up for grabs.

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

    1. Cloud Prince
    2. Leeroy Jenkins
    3. Explosive Runes

So the solution would be Fireball!

    • Quote From JFK

      1. Cloud Prince
      2. Leeroy Jenkins
      3. Explosive Runes

So the solution would be Fireball!

      That's 100% correct.

1 - A royal son is a Prince, the only Hearthstone Prince card "with his head in the sky" is Cloud Prince

2 - Leeroy Jenkins is known to be a Fireball on a stick and got HoFed = banned from standard.

3 - Explosive Runes should be tested with a high Health minion if you don't want to get caught with a snap.

All of them deal 6 damage. This effect has its most iconic iteration in Fireball. "The King of the Sun" was meant to point at it being the most famous burn card.

Thanks JFK, I'm happy you were able to solve it after all. Don't worry, I won't do something like this again.

I believe that the 3 to 1 riddles are interesting as well as the usual ones. Just this riddle was a bit difficult. Maybe we should give hints after a whole day without a single response.

      Hash tag deal with it.

p.s. We don't have "...on a stick" phrasing in our language. Even related to HS. So it's an american (or insert your country) phrasing. (:

It’s a pretty common term here on the site. I thought it was Coldlight being an Arcane Intellect on a stick, didn’t play enough to know Leeroy was even called that!

as for the third one, the trap got me stuck on literal Hunter Traps (especially because of the “caught with a snap” imagery, so I thought Freezing Trap. Did get the Cloud Prince part though, but I wanted to see if I could solve it before giving a hint solution to the others lul

Remember my post history riddle? Or the “cop folded shoplifters” one? Don’t worry about the difficulty dude, it was a neat riddle :D

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

Alright, a simple one. You're only looking for one card this time:

To live, or not to live, that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in locked war to suffer
The pings and damage of outrageous power,
Or to take Fury against a Field of trifles,
    And by inferno end them...

  • Is it... Lord Jaraxxus?

  • Just bumping in case @Dermostatic didn’t see this

  • ..... chirp .... chirp ... chirp ........

  • I've sent them a DM and asked to provide a riddle within the next 24 hours. After that, I suggest the next one's up for grab.

The answer shouldn’t be limited, but the riddle-giving could be

      That's what iI'm talking about

  • Time's up, the next riddle is up for grabs. Who has a good idea?

  • The Knight from G&G can.

    While Moustached guys cannot.

It can fetch you a Macabre op.

    Or a Duelist who's a flop.

  • Care for a hint?

This riddle has a bit of nostalgia involved in it. The Moustached guys are not any form of Mr. Jackson (I'm sorry Reno, I didn't mean to make your daughter cry, I apologize a thousand times)

  • Any questions...? It's really not too hard. I think it's just hidden in how obvious It is.

Think action verbs top 2 lines, the last two are game  particular

  • Absolutely no idea. I've checked the Goblins vs. Gnomes expansion site for cards that have "Knight" or "Sir" in their name or a knight in their art with no results. I do not know what people with a mustache can't do what other people can either.

While I have many ideas for OP cards, I can't think of a single macabre one. The last line might be a hint at a bad Duels hero but I don't play that game mode. "It can get you" hints at card generation, that's the one productive thing I can contribute.

For the sake of making a guess... Jandice Barov? (Because she can get you a Mozaki, Master Duelist who's a Duels hero afaik)

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

Same. After I didn't find any knights in gvg, I thought it might be a paladin card. But I don't have any guess anyway.

  • Bolvar Fordragon?

It's not OP in any ways, but it's a knight.

  • The first two lines are that bit of nostalgia I was referring to. Think retro. One character was even reprised into a very popular vs. style game somewhat recently.

Card does not generate. Much of your post is in the right direction, ⚓. I updated the riddle.

  • Getting tired of waiting.  Have you guys never played Super Ghouls and Ghosts?????? On the SNES....

The Moustached guys are Mario and Luigi!!!!!!!!!!

  • Guess I forgot that most HS players play only HS. Thought someone would pick up on the retro reference!

  • It's Double Jump.

Mario and Luigi in the old games couldn't double jump but Arthur from G&G on the SNES can.

It can fetch you [Hearthstone Card (skull of gul'dan/card], the macabre op… Or star student who is a duel character.

Sorry but that was agonizingly long for me, especially after that break. You all lose.

I feel like I'm torturing you so I give up my turn. I didn't win it anyway. Game is up for another riddle again : D

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar
  • Wrong. You’re thinking in the wrong direction entirely

  • Not taking the extra steps to figure it out, so I'll be just trying to hack this (I assume R is too). Dark Possession?

  • Nope. I can say fairly safely that you won’t be able to brute-force the answer

  • Yay, another impossible one. You guys couldn't get my one that I thought was pretty easy. Good luck with this

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

I could not find a correct cipher. Unless there is no such cihper calculator online. Or maybe I was  badly looking for it or missed something...

"Wrong direction"... So it's HRHCUATPCS ZHAG? Like Optimistic Ogre.

If we name each card in the game, then eventually we will find the answer (:

  • “Wrong direction” figuratively, as in “misunderstanding the riddle’s catch”. I will say that it’s not a cipher (cipher riddles just get obliterated by cipher decoders on the internet anyway)

focus on the given cards, it is highly unlikely you’ll be able to cheese your way out of this one >:)

  • Honestly, I've been thinking without replying just to brainstorm myself, and I can't figure it out.

I always thought the solution was in the cards provided, but I can't really figure it out... First is a gain armor cards, then a weapon which interacts with you having said armor, then a minion which allows to go face ( I thought it was Mayor Noggenfogger by that point), then I turns into a non collectible non targetable cards, then to a non collectible card with an elemental tag, then to a beast with Adapt if you sacrifice, and then to a damager/buffer.

I lost it completely when I saw the Laughing Sister, and I thought maybe the The Lich King, since he can make your minions untargetable, deal damage or heal with his DK cards, but I don't think that's the answer so... I'm at a major loss.

  • Another hint, let’s see if this makes it click:

    Show Spoiler

by adding Xaril, Poisoned Mind to the card list, I can change the code to GHAX SCPTAUCHRH

    G - gain, H - has, A - attack...? Or it's wrong direction?

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

  • I was hoping you’d make some guesses using that logic... but no, that’s not it

  • @MurlocAggroB got it! :0

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

Is he really gets it or you don't want this to continue? (:

    How to solve this riddle?

  • Nah I was just kidding lmao, keep trying

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

Does the order in which you showed the cards matter?

  • No. Thinking back it could be a good idea to give them in order... guess I know my next hint

  • The way I understand it, the letters given in the code can be changed to spell the name of a card. And the key to deciphering the code can be found in the cards below.

My initial guess was to count how many times a letter from the code appears in the cards and then go that many spaces down the line. (For example, "G" appears five times in the cards below, and "S" is the fifth card in the code, so that would be the first letter in the card's name). But that doesn't work since "A" appears thirty four times, and "Z" appears zero times.

You said that you didn't put the cards in any particular order, but then you implied that the order of the cards does matter. Which leads me to believe we can use the code to sort the cards in some way revealing the answer, but then again we run into the problem of there being no "Z".

You then said that by adding Xarl to the list you could change the "Z" to an "X". Since "X" is the first letter in the cards name, I get the impression that we could use the card's name to figure the code out, but then again we run into the no "Z" problem.

However, by adding Xarl you replaced the "Z" with an "X" which makes things more confusing since it implies that certain cards can remove as well as add letters to the code. But if adding Xarl and changing the "X" with a "Z" leaves the answer the same, then the "Z" without Xarl works the same as the "X" with Xarl. But I can't think of any way in which "Z" relates to these cards.

All that being said, I think the answer is probably Murloc Tinyfin

  • Nope, but keep thinking on that. You’re on the right track with the X being interchangeable with the Z because of Xaril. Meanwhile, here’s the correct order of the cards (now with Xaril included):

    GHAX SCPTAUCHRH

    Laughing Sister

    Flame Elemental

    Xaril, Poisoned Mind

    Disciple of C'Thun

    Ravenous Pterrordax

    Bladed Gauntlet

    Dr. Boom's Scheme

    Tundra Rhino

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

I got the same order before, using sets of two letters and finding them in each cards name.

    Show Spoiler
    GH-AZ SC-PT-AU-CH-RH
LauGHing Sister, *I don't know*, DiSCiple of C'thun, Ravenous PTerrordax, Bladed GAUntlet, Dr. Boom's SCHeme, Tundra RHino
Second one has to be Flame Elemental cause it's the only one left (this was before Xaril was added)

So I tried looking at the cards again, and in each word where the two-letter combination was, I looked at the letters before the combination (but only in that word) and I noticed this:

    Show Spoiler

    Laughing Sister

    Flame Elemental

    Xaril, Poisoned Mind

    Disciple of C'Thun

    Ravenous Pterrordax

    Bladed Gauntlet

    Tundra Rhino

laufldigs - if you read it out loud, it could be "lawful digs"

So, finally, what is a word for lawful digging? Excavation.

    Is it Excavated Evil?

  • First spoiler is the way to go, after that you took the wrong direction

  • I tried looking at the letter after each pair and got "imaiesenei" which doesn't look or sound like anything. Then I tried taking the letter before each card and got "uldisgsa" which also doesn't seem to mean anything.

The main thing that's stumping me is how the riddle works either with or without Xarl, and what exactly was the "Z" supposed to mean?

  • Here’s a hint:

Ravenous Pterrordax could be replaced by Pterrordax Hatchling, and Dr. Boom's Scheme could be replaced by First Day of School

So X letter should be first letter in a word and A letter should be next to it? And the same goes for other words?

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

If Acherus and School can replace the word Scheme, then the names of cards are not necessary to solve this. Everything changed except the group of letters "CH" and its position in the word (always the 2. and 3. letter.).

In the Xaril-Xanesh-Xavius example, the letter "a" which is second in each word is literally just a coincidence. The only HS cards with words that start with "x" are Xaril, Xanesh and Xavius, so there's no way to tell that it's a coincidence without a different example - which is why I asked about Acherus Veteran.

So what does this mean? I'm guessing the position of the letters is the key to solve this, but I've got nothing so far.

  • To further bamboozle your theories I’ll say that Dr. Boom's Scheme can also be replaced by Chromaggus, but not by Charged Devilsaur

  • I'm just here because I like to write short rhymes. Puzzles like this are why I stopped posting in this thread.

Anyways, Molten Giant. I'm gonna get there eventually.

  • Alright, alright, here’s the final hint:

    Show Spoiler

Try reading the names of the cards out loud

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar
  • Told ya lol

    @JFK got it, well done!

  • Okay, we're due for an explanation on how that was solved. I gave it a cursory review saying the names out loud and all it confirmed is that either I'm daft or that the riddle was too eclectic. Let's hear it.

Again, as much as I admire these types of riddles they really alienate a lot of the traffic to this thread.

    • If you read out loud the code in the way the letters are pronounced in the cards we we're given, you're getting there. Technically we wouldn't even have needed the cards to solve the code. It's about how letters are pronounced differently, like the P in Pterrodax is silent. I'm not a native speaker, but roughly it looks like this:

GH is pronounced "f" in Laughing Sister
      A - a
      X - s/z

      SC - s
      PT - t
      AU - o
      CH - k
      RH - r

      "faz stokr" = Phase Stalker

It was a very cool riddle after all, but phonetics wasn't something I've expected at all. Wasn't somebody's signature something like "First rule of the english language: They our know rulez"? I think it was KANSAS, but they have a different one now.

  • @Live4vrRdieTryin Basically, GHAX SCPTAUCHRH is a homophone of PHASE STALKER if you pronounce GH as in “Laughing Sister”, A as in “Flame Elemental”, X as in “Xaril, Poisoned Mind”, SC as in “Disciple of C'Thun”, PT as in “Ravenous Pterrordax”, AU as in “Bladed Gauntlet”, CH as in “Dr. Boom's Scheme” and RH as in ”Tundra Rhino”. As you can see it’s easy once you know the catch, the real challenge is coming to that line of thought.

And yeah, I understand where you’re coming from, but I still want to shake things up once in a while, since just rhyme formats get pretty boring after 86 pages. I really don’t think this one was too outlandish, it just requires a bit of a non-traditional approach to code-cracking

edit: oh, @anchorm4n beat me to it lol

  • Clever. Sorry for being a spoilsport, I guess. I didn't even bother to dig into it to be fair, and hearing the answer is a real facepalm making me wish I didn't give up so easily

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

Ah, my English is bad. No chance to solve riddles like this.

  • Interesting choice for a riddle, a shame I'm not a native maybe it would have put things easier.

  • Rhymes never caught my attention, but this was my type of riddle, it was fun staying until the end to see the answer. Also, clever hints, keeping it tense. Well thought out, DestroyerR :)

    The converse joke

    - What do you get when you combine a turret and a safe?

    - Cleaved timber!

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar
  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

    Nope.

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar
  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

    No

  • Kun the Forgotten King

Can either refresh your mana crystals like Turret Sentinel from puzzle labs or can gain armour which is kind of safe related.

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

Sorry for no response, it's not Kun.

    Hint:

    Show Spoiler
'Converse' in this case means 'reverse'.

  • I had that in mind already, but none of the words here have an antonym... how else would reverse come into play here?

  • I'm associating a turret with Blackhowl Gunspire and a safe with Safeguard.

The second line might be an obvious hint at Cleave, but timber is a bit harder. There's Timber Wolf, but that's quite a stretch from the meaning of the word.

So... if I combine Blackhowl Gunspire with Safeguard, I'm looking for
    1) a minion that
    2) does damage to random (?) enemies (which also fits Cleave) or has an effect that triggers when it gets damaged and
    3) has Taunt since that's the Safeguard's most prominent feature.

I'll neglect Tribe and Rarity for now.

The timber part still eludes me, but my first guess is Hogger, Doom of Elwynn.

  • Hm. The combination of a turret and a safe in a more literal way would be a tank. Darkmoon Tonk also hits random enemies for 2, like Cleave. Dealing 4 times 2 damage is a nice way to counter treants, so this might explain the timber part.

I'll take the liberty and make a second guess: is it Darkmoon Tonk?

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

Nope, and nope. It's not entirely a deduction riddle, there is also another way of thinking you'll need to figure it out.

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

    Nope.

  • So “converse” here could mean:

    A) the antonym of the words here (Impossible)

    B) the things in the question swap with the ones in the answer (“cleaved timber” “turret and safe”)

I have a feeling we’re supposed to swap the current words with synonyms, THEN do option B. So cleaved timber could mean... Splintergraft? “Splintered” instead of “Cleaved” and “graft” instead of “timber”?

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

Not it, but you're really close!

  • Greybough then?

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

    Still close, but no.

  • Cenarius? Two treants with taunt is a turret of stats and pretty safe for the taunt part. "Cleaved" can also be for the choose one part.

  • KETO SNACKS THAT ACTUALLY TASTE GOOD?

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

Nope. The closest was Splintergraft with flavor, but Greybough was closer with effect.

  • Hmmmm... a bit of a blind guess, but just to get it out of the way: Lucentbark?

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

    Nope.

  • Rattlegore? Similar to Greybough in effect and to Splintergraft in flavor.

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar
  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

    None of these.

Try reversing the second line. The third one is just a hint.

  • I guess the only plausible way to reverse the second line in a meaningful way is to make it “what do you get when you separate a turret and a safe”? But that doesn’t really make sense... or am I reversing it wrong?

  • We could read the second line backwards, then the beginning sounds like "safe a turn and combine". That could be almost any combo card... Temporus gives additional turns just like Open the Waygate. The general idea seems to be that we're looking for a Druid card though.

    Fandral Staghelm?

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

Not Fandral. In fact, it's not a Druid card and it's not a legendary card either.

anchorm4n's idea is on the right track though, just make it more backwards.

  • I don't think it is Voidlord but I'm going with it because you get 1 turn of almost guaranteed safety unless the opponent has some "cleave" after the deathrattle.

  • Splitting Festeroot!

safe backwards is "efas", turret backwards is "terrut". "efasterrut" = festeroot. The opposite of to combine = to split

I had been thinking of this card's effect the whole time because of the third line of the riddle, but I couldn't remember the name. I was falsely assuming it summons Treants or Ancients and therefore gave up the search and decided it must have been a custom card I was remembering.

  • Niiiice

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

    Yup, it's Festeroot!

  • What do you get when you combine a basic enrage minion with a legendary convict's last meal?

  • Basic or common?

  • I know that makes it probably too easy, but yeah, it's "basic".

  • Leeroy Jenkins?

  • Both are wrong, PopeNeia is closer though.

  • Tauren Warrior? I mean, it has enrage and it's a cow tauren, which can be considered a last meal? Maybe Bloodhoof Brave, because it can be cooked rare? lol I'm out of silly puns...

Jokes aside, I'm going with the former, Tauren Warrior.

  • Nope.

Again, PopeNeia almost had it. Also: DestroyerR was right to ask if basic was important, it is.

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar
  • I’m so dumb, I thought it referred to valithria dreamwalker (only minion with no rarity with a “while damaged” effect), but now it’s obvious it refers to Gurubashi Berserker. Overthought this one by a mile...

  • That's right!

A "basic enrage minion" is Gurubashi Berserker and the legendary convict is Leeroy Jenkins, whose last meal is chicken. Well done!

And it's almost my first name too.
Every time I'm here I do the same.
I will make the way break through.

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

    Yup

  • Nice!

"Here's a toast for the fallen today

Billy headbutted a whelp and died

Tommy went against a blade, that didn't end up well.

Johnny was an anomaly, he barely survived.

And here I am, face to face with you."

  • I'd start out with Johnny, because there are only two anomaly cards in the game: Cosmic Anomaly and Arcane Anomaly. Assuming all the "fallen" have something in common, my first guess is that they are all "arcane" minions with the Elemental tribe. There are only six of them.

Billy, who headbutted a whelp and died, might be Arcane Artificer who went against Twilight Whelp

Tommy, who went against a blade, might be Arcane Tyrant who fought against Blade of C'Thun or Nightblade (I'll ignore Weapons for now, there are far too many)

Johnny is Arcane Anomaly (see above)

That leaves us with Arcane Devourer, Arcane Amplifier and Arcane Servant.

So this is probably all wrong, but it was fun. My guess is that the person speaking the toast is the master of them all who is left with his servant, Arcane Servant.

  • I freaking loved that train of thought!

But sadly no, you're on point that they all have something in common and with the anomaly, though is not that one.

  • Ok, so Johnny is an Arcane Anomaly and Billy probably has 1 Health (headbutted a whelp and died, so died to a 1 Attack minion, unless this is one of the collectible whelps... and why “headbutted” specifically?). Tommy is the biggest question here, there are a LOT of blades in the game which he could’ve died to...

for the sake of guessing, Master Oakheart?

  • I'm guessing Billy is Leeroy Jenkins and we know that Johnny is Cosmic Anomaly. These cards both rotated to wild at the start of the year of the Phoenix. This is similar to having "fallen". I'm not sure about Tommy but I think the answer will be another Year of the Raven card linked to "face to face". Is it Face Collector?

  • Alright, so it is Cosmic Anomaly we're starting out with. I'll check for Spell Damage +2 then.

Billy is Celestial Emissary because he has 1 Health

Tommy could be Azerite Elemental who went against Gorehowl, one of the most famous blades in the game

    Johnny is Cosmic Anomaly

And if I add the Elemental tag to the filter, that leaves only Imprisoned Phoenix. Is it that one?

  • Nope, nope and nope.

Anomaly is the word, but not that anomaly.

Asides from that, stop thinking too much in elementals.

Edit: Didn't see the post of @anchorm4n it is Cosmic Anomaly, not the final answer but part of the riddle nonetheless.

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

    Billy - Evolved Kobold

    Tommy - Azure Explorer

    Johnny - Cosmic Anomaly

4 cost common minions with Spell Damage +2 and low stats. So final answer is Squallhunter?

  • Nope.

    Hint:

    Show Spoiler
The brothers are from the same tribe, but not elementals.

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

So Cosmic Anomaly is right, but others are not? These cards were not elementals, but do they related to spell damage or not?

  • Not spell damage, and think why the other brothers died, they came against something, just the anomaly and face one survived.

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

They came against something with 2 damage? Headbutted - Batterhead? I got nothing except this.

  • Nope. And "they" didn't rotate yet.

    Hint:

    Show Spoiler
Think the brothers as a four-in-one. That should make things easier.

  • Exactly!

  • What? Why? Where’s the Anomaly here?

  • Lol that was more or less a blind guess because I couldn't think of another Standard card that summons 4 minions that attack immediately (I deduced these points from the hints).

Hm. There is Big Ol' Whelp with 5 attack for Billy; Illidari Felblade for Tommy; Cosmic Anomaly for Johnny; and the last one went to face (which hinted at a Hunter card?).

It makes sense I guess, but the hints were dearly needed.

  • Indeed, that's the right order, the last part of the riddle (face to face) was to point out why it survived, that hunter is known to be the "face" class just adds flavor to it.

  • But then why did you say that Johnny WAS the Anomaly?

    • Quote From Fedrion

      Nope, nope and nope.

Anomaly is the word, but not that anomaly.

Asides from that, stop thinking too much in elementals.

Edit: Didn't see the post of @anchorm4n it is Cosmic Anomaly, not the final answer but part of the riddle nonetheless.

Never said it was the card, I said it was tied to the final answer, which it is.

  • But you said “Johnny was an anomaly, he barely survived”... oh whatever, poetic license I suppose

  • Yeah, I can't argue that, I suppose I should have phrased it "For Johnny was an anomaly...", fair point.

But it would have lost the rhythm of the names first.

  • Anyways, here's the next riddle. I have no idea if this is too hard but I've wanted to try something like this for a while.

    taozftha fsypeicdvj

  • Cryptogram solver says this corresponds to “ASHTRAYS REDOUBLING”

    ... I’m guessing it’s not a cryptogram

  • This is probably wrong, but I'm going to guess Kathrena Winterwisp because it's the correct number of letters.

  • It's not Kathrena and after having read the wiki I'm not sure if it's a cryptogram to be honest. :D

Hint: It's a card name and the number of letters in both words has not been changed. I would appreciate it if you would try to break the code instead of brute force guessing cards that have a matching number of letters though.

  • Jeez Louise, this game lately ...

  • Come on, it's nice to try something new from time to time. If it proves to be too hard, I'll give major hints.

Here's something that might be helpful: the seventh and the eighth letter in the second word are the same.

  • Ok, if we shift the first letter back by one, the second by two, the third by three, and so on, we get Sylvanas Windrunner.

  • Glad that got settled fast. Dial it back big-brains XD

  • Ah, nice... a crypto-cryptogram ^^

  • That's right NerdyMcNerd! You're next :-)

  • Okey dokey, I've had this idea for a little while, it might be way to easy or hard but here goes:

Dr Boom wants to combine these mixed up minions, it's a pity one of them isn't a mech.

    1) Wrong-Lot

    2) Shine Dim Old Bite

    3) Grated Tummy

    4) In Footy Palace

    5) Stage Leerer
