Everything You Need to Know About Hearthstone's "Rewind" Mechanic Keyword
Here's everything you need to know about Hearthstone's Rewind keyword which was introduced in the Across the Timeways expansion.
Time travel is coming to Hearthstone! Rewind is a new keyword that lets you replay cards with random effects for another shot at a better outcome. We've all had a spell go sideways or watched a minion’s effect miss the mark. Now, if a card has Rewind, you'll be offered the chance to rewrite history. Do you stick with what happened, or Rewind the timeline? The power to change RNG fate is in your hands.
What is Rewind?
Rewind is a keyword added in the Across the Timeways expansion released in 2025. This mechanic allows you to play a card with a random effect at an attempt to see a better outcome.

Upon playing a card with Rewind, a "Timeline" element will appear on your screen asking if you want to keep the outcome of your card being played, or if you would like to try again. If you try again, the screen will be covered in sand from the hourglass of time while the game state resets itself to replay the card.
Playing Against Rewind in Hearthstone
Not much can be done when you are playing against an opponent that is making use of Rewind cards since it isn't possible to control outcomes. Rewind exists on a mix of both Spells and Minions, so it's not like we can easily counter both of them.
The best thing you can do is sit back and enjoy being a passenger while your opponent completes their turn.
And that's everything you need to know about the Across the Timeways keyword, Rewind!
