**WORK IN PROGRESS**
Mercenary Prestige is a monthly event in Whiteout Survival that tests the individual strength of players and rewards them for defeating as many enemies as they can. The event also includes boss battles for entire Alliance.
Event Description and Rules
"Phaeton Mercenaries have seized control of a nearby mining region and pressed the locals into slavery. Gina's Eagles have accepted a contract to remove them, but she's worried they may be overmatched. So Gina has put out word her company would be willing to share the Prestige and Bounty for helping to take down Phaethon."
Event Rules
Mercenary Challenge (Personal)
- Chiefs can attempt Mercenary Challenge on multiple difficulties. Chiefs who scout and defeat the Phaethon Soldiers will earn rewards depending on the level of defeated enemies.
- Chiefs can also request rallies from allies to help against Phaethon Soldiers above a certain level. Each of these requests will require a Mercenary Contract. Chiefs receive 5 Mercenary Contracts at the start of the event, and unused contracts will be removed at the end.
Elite Bounties (Alliance)
- R5/R4s of Alliances where enough members have defeated a certain number of high-level Phaethon Soldiers can ask Gina's Eagles for the right to challenge a Phaethon Captain.
- Al Alliance members will then be able to participate in a Phaethon Captain challenge event. Phaethon Captains are extremely powerful. You'll need allies.
- Defeat a Phaethon Captain to earn big rewards for all Alliance participants.
Note: Saying Mercenary Captains are extremely powerful and give big rewards is a gross overstatement on the game description part :) But more on that further below.
Mercenary Prestige Difficulties
There are 10 difficulties total, split into two categories by five. Legend's Initiation category opens up around day X.
- Champion's Initiation - Easy
- Champion's Initiation - Normal
- Champion's Initiation - Hard
- Champion's Initiation - Nightmare
- Champion's Initiation - Insane
- Epic Initiation - Easy
- Epic Initiation - Normal
- Epic Initiation - Hard
- Epic Initiation - Nightmare
- Epic Initiation - Insane

- Each difficulty comprises of 50 levels where you need to defeat Phaethon Soldiers.
- Every 10th level is a boss level with significantly stronger enemy.
- To unlock higher difficulty, you need to complete all 50 levels in the current difficulty before the event ends.
- If you fail to defeat all 50 levels, you can attempt the same difficulty again next time.
- You can chose the same difficulty again even if you complete it, if you think you are too weak to attempt the higher one.
- Mercenary Prestige is a monthly event, this means to unlock the highest difficulty, it will take you at least 10 months.
Mercenary Prestige Stage Rewards
Each difficulty provides different Stage Rewards that you can obtain after the event based on how many Phaethon Soldiers you defeated. Rewards listed in the picture below are for defeating all 50 levels in each difficulty.
As you can see, the higher the difficulty, the better the rewards. But the Stamina cost to defeat all 50 levels stays the same. So the sooner you unlock higher difficulties, the sooner you reap better rewards for the amount of Stamina spent.

Defeating Phaethon Soldiers
Scouting the Enemy
Once you select and confirm your chosen difficulty, you will have an option to scout Phaethon Soldiers. In the event page, you can also see the projected power of each Phaethon Soldier and your current highest attained Stage Reward to be received after the event.
- Each Scout costs 15 Stamina.

Attacking the Enemy
After you have scouted the enemy, you can either Attack it yourself, Rally it or Request Help.
- Defeating each level also grants victory reward based on the level and difficulty, more details further below.
- If you "lose track" of your summoned Phaethon Soldier, you can simply Challenge them via the event page.
- You need to defeat the scouted enemy within 1 hour otherwise you will have to Scout it again for another 15 Stamina.

Overall Stamina Cost & Tips How To Save Stamina
The cost of doing all 50 levels, and potentially having to rally most of them, can seem very daunting. Especially in early difficulties where rewards are lower. But you just have to grind through them to get to the last ones and then the rewards are 100% worth the cost.
There are few ways how you can conserve Stamina.
Use Gina As Long As You Can
To save up on Stamina, you can and should make use of Gina's Endurance Training which lowers the Stamina cost by up to 20%. That is a significant amount when you realize you need to Attack or Rally 50 times.
I always start with Gina first, and continue to use her until I hit a wall and lose the fight. Then I swap to my main marksman hero. You can prolong her longevity by swapping Hero Gear from your main marksman to her, possibly squeezing few more levels out of her.

Getting Defeated Attacking Phaethon Soldiers Refunds Stamina
If the game tells you that "The outcome is difficult to ascertain." or that "This deployment is almost certain to fail", do not be alarmed and try it anyway!
If you fail, once your march returns to your City, you will get the Stamina for the Attack refunded! You can try attacking as many times as you want, trying different hero or troop compositions or simply trying to brute force it by hoping for different RNG on Hero and Troop skills.
The more levels you can solo attack, ideally with Gina, the more Stamina you can save.
Asking For Help
Another way how you can save up on Stamina is to use the option 'Request Help' once you've scouted the enemy.

When you scout a Phaethon Soldier, you have 60 minutes to defeat it. This can be an important information if you Request Help. Do not just go offline thinking someone will help you eventually because if they don't do it in that 60 minute time-frame, you will have to scout again and waste more Stamina.
But there is some 'loss prevention' mechanic - you don't actually have to be part of the Rally that defeats the Soldier. If that happens, the Stage Reward will be mailed to you via in-game mail and you can claim it there.

Every player starts with 5 Horns which are used to Request Help from your Alliance. Once the help is requested, anyone can Rally the Phaethon Soldier. Player who calls the Rally will be rewarded with an extra Horn after defeating the Soldier. There is also a bonus reward in a form of a Mercenary Chest. Players can help defeat as many Phaethon Soldiers calling rallies for others as they want, but they will only receeve bonus rewards for first 7 of them each day.
Trading Help
You can use the Request Help feature not only to save up on Stamina, but to actually get the extra rewards yourself. Either simply by calling a Rally for anyone who requests it, or by making an agreement with another player and 'trade help'.
What does it mean?
You Request Help and they call the Rally for your Soldier, them getting the extra rewards and you progressing further. And then you do the same for them. It will be a zero net loss/gain in terms of Stamina spent on both sides, but it will be a gain in terms of the extra rewards from Mercenary Chests for both players.
If you are going to be calling Rallies anyway, you might as well trade help with someone and get extra rewards. Ideally you do this towards the latest levels since those will be where you will most likely need to call a Rally, do not waste the help attempts on lower levels which you can solo yourself. Unless you are at a point where you can solo every level anyway.
Skip Some of the Lighthouse Intel Missions During the Event
This might be a controversial advice and I would not recommend it to players who are past Furnace Level 30 and have the bonus rewards (Fire Crystals, Fire Crystal Shards, Gems etc.) unlocked for their Lighthouse Intel Missions. But for anyone in younger servers, it might be worthwhile to for example skip the 12-Cost "Rescue Survivors" missions that basically only award low level troops at the time. Or skip some of the "Beast Hunting" missions when the reward is just Rare Shards or Manuals. Choice is yours, evaluate your situation and decide if you want to save up on some Stamina this way or not.
Develop Expert Agnes
With introductions of Experts into the game, you can get more Stamina from Patrick's cans by upgrading Agnes' skill Optimization. This can yield up to 40 extra Stamina twice a day. But Agnes can also give you additional 8 Intel missions each day. Which is amazing, but also more drain on your Stamina. So she is a bit of a double-edged sword in the context of Stamina management during Mercenary Prestige.

Legend's Initiation
New level of difficulty introduced. Previous Legend Initiations renamed to Epic Initiations. I will fill this section as I go through the difficulties. And I will redo the pictures for Epic Initiation when I have time. The numbers should be the same, just need to change the name.
