The Ooze is rising. Trick, treat, craft, and hold the camp.
October 1 - October 31 · Daily resets at midnight Eastern
October is Oozefest! The Ooze is rising out of the pumpkin patch and the camp has one month to get ready for it. Knock on other members' doors for candy, and on realm pages and news articles too: three quarters of the time you get a treat, and the rest of the time you get a trick. Donate candy, timber, bars and fish to the camp defenses to raise the Settlement Level, because every level of it makes everybody hit the bosses harder. Five bosses come one a week, each with three attacks a day and a chapter of the story, and the last of them walks up to the wall on the twenty-ninth. Smelt, tan and weave what you gather into gear at the Forge, then open a shop on your profile and sell what you do not need. The free 50-level pass pays Ectoplasm all month.
Arm the settlement. A full meter levels up the Militia and sends a strike at the boss.

Projects
Preparing for the next battle
No boss is in range, so the crews hold fire. Each trebuchet keeps loading from the stockpiles until it has one full shot ready, then stops drawing ammo and waits. No Food is eaten and nothing is thrown until a boss arrives. Militia strikes bank until then too.
Challenges reset every day at midnight Eastern. Season challenges pay Pass XP - finish about half the month to complete the pass. The Gold challenges run every day, season or not.

It's been how many days? And the boss is almost half dead.
Also, question. Is the only way to level up to fight stronger enemies is to gain site reputation? On that note, what actually happens if you lose all your HP?
I think the only thing is to watch your health. With decent enough stats, you can probably beat anything while you're at full health. Then just rest up or eat restorative food before going into another tough fight.
I think we’re over the halfway line timewise so I’m a bit worried if we’re able to kill it on time.
To your questions: your gear does matter too, you’re quite unkillable if you have enough health or armor. I’ve had 650+ Health and 400+ Armor since the event started (maybe site lvl 19) and I’ve fought lvl 40++ opponents quite early on, never losing more than 150 or so Health (and that’s usually when the opponents get a critical hit). My Strength has been above 270 if you want to compare all your key numbers. But each fight should tell you how much Health you’re expected to lose.
I believe that you cannot go below 1 Health, and that there are no extra punishments outside losing the fight and not being able to fight for a while due to your inability to take any hits without losing instantly. Don’t quote me on that, but that’s how I’ve understood it.
You gain small amount of site xp by posting and liking comments etc but the venture fights themselves are currently the most efficient way of gaining those levels. If you’re able to fight those lvl 40+ fights, I think they give you a bit more xp for each energy than even or hard fights. Roughly speaking, I get maybe 130 xp for each even fight costing 10 energy and at least 300+ for each 40+ fight costing 20 energy (just got 500+ for a lvl 46 fight).
I just noticed that we can "bank" items in our inventory. It says that "Banked things stay safe and out of the game: withdraw them to use, sell or wear them." Why would they not be "safe"? Can someone steal my stuff?
I've been waiting to find something to post a link here and give something of value to the discussion, but since free loot keeps eluding me, I'm just gonna leave this comment to get my extra daily swing at the boss.
