I like it a lot, but Shaman/Mage "Primordial Studies" should discover Elementals...
With the amount of discover cards mage has I wonder how easily it is to reduce malygos to a level where it is a viable strategy.
Btw if you don't count this as a spam, the minion list and tier list for standard (probably tier list is garbage :P);

The best card for this one for one, would be 100% Mozaki, Master Duelist
Since it's already cheap, and by making it more cheap you can spam more spells with it.
It doesn't have Spell Damage unfortunately, it will "gain" spell damage after you cast spell. :) Like how Mok'Nathal Lion doesn't have deathrattle.
It still has the spell damage tag on it, the same way you can discover Da Undatakah from cards that discover deathrattles

no he doesn't because you can't discover da Undatakah from cards which discover deathrattle cards. He is just overpressuring.
Ya got me i secretly work for activision and i am trying to hype up legendary cards so people pre-order the expansion before it's too late. No wait that's really stupid
I expect Mana Reservoir will actually be one of the better picks. It hasn't been used so far because decks haven't been very interested in spell damage, so they only use it when the spell damage minions have board presence of their own. But if spell damage itself is the most important part, then a low cost high health option is perfect.
I don't think Malygos is S tier at all... Because most decks aren't weird combo decks...
I don't think other decks will use this card, so I put Malygos in S Tier. I believe Primordial Studies is a combo card neither a control nor tempo nor Midrange nor Aggro. I thought that this card must be a part of spell based combo deck with Malygos since it discovers a spell damage minion and decrease its cost.
I think just regular mage (especially highlander) might use this, just for a chance at an extra prime. Maybe spell mage will use it to, because they do need more minions.
Squall Hunter and Vashj can't be Discovered since they are Shaman cards. Also isn't the new Mage Legendary a SD minion? And I also completely disagree on Malygos. You wouldn't even run this card in a Maly deck, never in Wild and probably not in Standard either.
Also aren't there Rogue SD minions?
This is a dual-class Shaman/Mage card, so Squall hunter and Vashj can be discovered if its put in a shaman deck.
Oh for some reason I thought it was Mage / Rogue
it is a Shaman/Mage card. Also new Mage Legendary gains Spell Damage after you cast a spell, it is a vanilla minion when you play it.

the next spell damage minion will cost 1 less. It's part of a whole suite of cards known as studies, which discovery a type of card (spell, minion, totem, beast, etc) and then reduce the cost of the next card of the same type by 1.
