Hearthstone's alternate heroes that are no longer available in the shop may return one day!
In today's Reddit AMA, Game Director, Ben Lee, confirmed that some heroes that are no longer available will rotate into the shop much like older card backs started doing with the Naxxramas ranked card back last month and the Cupcake card back that should make its return soon.
No details on pricing has been made available yet or the list of heroes that will make their make into realm of the obtainable. Which heroes do you want to see make a return to the shop? How much would you be willing to pay for an older hero?
Apologies for the article image, we have no idea if Elise and Mecha-Jaraxxus are going to return. Elise was simply referenced in the comment Ben Lee responded to and Mechraxxus just looks amazing.

I would say 5$/€ for a skin with a cardback is more than fair.... And i can't afford (at least not now under the given circumstanes) a skin for 10€ or a prepurchase anymore (especially the one for 80 bucks...) but maybe from time to time a skin for 5$/€. The next thing is that I really could understand, if people would feel bad/ betrayed if you could buy the skins from the big bundles regularly in the shop. Speaking for me, I got some of the bundle skins and it would be okay for me. :)
On one hand it probably feels bad for people who spent 80$ to get a skin that now becomes available for a fraction of the price.
ON the other hand, if you were dumb enough to spend 80$ just for a skin with no use for the packs you deserve to be ripped off you fiscally irresponsible gremlin.
This is a huge ‘f*ck you’ to all the people who payed $80 for mega bundles thinking these heroes would never be available again.
I had thought about purchasing Sylvanas, but the real money cost is not justifiable to me. I would happily plonk down 2000 gold or even dust for her though.
Oh my lord I'd love to see Mecha Jaraxxus in the shop. I missed out on him as I took a break, and that was the only break I ever took. Always regretted it! I actually think it'd be nice to see every hero pop up in the store every now and again. As a sort of a roulette as it were.
I say more power to them (and to everyone who missed out the first time). The preorders are about the packs, with a major bonus on top of that of course, but I didn't pay for exclusive rights to a skin. I got my money's worth out of Mecha Jaraxxus and the like; don't see why others can't experience the same thing.
I honestly feel like people have even less legs to stand on in this debate versus the one about the card backs, 'cause at least you could say "well I had to earn the card backs." You didn't earn anything for the skin; you just ponied up the money for it.
No more exclusivity? Well, no more money from me Blizzard. I ain’t pre-ordering sh*t from now on since I can just wait for few years and get it for the actual price.
If you’re willing to wait literal YEARS for the aesthetic reward to come back around, I’m pretty sure that you’re a devoted enough player that you’re not going to be content with just F2P packs. They’ll get your money one way or the other.
They won’t because my sole purpose of pre-ordering was because of the skins, not packs/gold/dust. Not anymore.
I highly doubt you would have been willing to fork over $80 for a hero skin if the 80 packs and golden legendaries weren't also a part of it
In that case, skin would cost only $10 just like it will cost for people who have ‘missed’ it. And that’s exactly why I’ll never pre-order again. I’ll rather ‘miss’ them and get them for $10 later then pay $80 just because it has been greedily attached to a mega bundle. So much for the exclusivity..
this is nice, now I can add guys like Hazelbark, Sylvannas and Khadgar to my collection.
But man I was kinda hoping for any news on a new hero for Rogue. They did a little tongue in cheek tease for the Tauren druid hero but Rogue's the only class out of the original 9 with less than 2 hero portraits.
I have a hunch we'll get Lilian Voss as a hero alongside the Scholomance solo stuff since she's the obvious good guy to go exposing the dark side of the school with.
That's less than two months away, assuming I'm right of course.
I personally believe that they'll have Silas Darkmoon as a Rogue Alt Portrait if they do the Darkmoon faire.
They've been using characters who appear in the expansion as alt portraits since Rise of Shadows (Madame Lazul, Elise Starseeker, Deathwing, Lady Vashj, Kel'thuzad), and he'd be the mascot for that set.
But Lillian Voss isn't a bad suggestion.
Personally if I had my pick I'd like Trade Prince Gallywix
I first thought Silas would fit, but so many things lined up with Lilian, including the tease a few months back that it would be 'Legendary' (where Lilian has the advantage of being an existing legendary card at the time) that she's my best guess. At least until I'm shown wrong in two months time anyway!
Honestly, they could do both Lilian and Silas. It wouldn't be the first time a single class has received 2 new ones in quick succession (shaman had King Rastakhan and The Thunder King, while druid got Elise Starseeker and Dame Hazelbark).
Really the class needs both an undead mascot and a thief/swindler/shady businessman mascot to cover the deathrattle and burgle/coin flavours of the class, and Lilian and Silas (or Gallywix) would cover them well. It could probably do with a pirate that is easier to reach for most people than [Hearthstone Card (Cap'n Valeera) Not Found] too. But instead Blizz decided the most diverse class (in the sense of the number of roles it fills in society) should be the one to get their heroes slowest.

Well, you know... It's not like you get 55 or 85 packs or anything... Or even a random golden Legendary! That would be great...

I like this a lot. Being able to get hero skins after years of not having access to them because you didn't want to or couldn't invest in the pre-release bundle to get the hero skin at the time was always kind of a bummer.
It kinda takes the exclusive aspect of hero arts - veterans having old, not accessible nowadays things.
It was always a big selling point of pre-orders for me.
IMO - when everybody can access everything, things lose that "exclusive" value, and become "easy to get" thing.
Games should have some exclusive things that veterans might be proud of - and say - "I've done that", "i've been part of it" etc.
It creates small histories of what events happend in the past. You can always look back and think to yourself "man, that event 2 years ago was cool, I have that unique thing that will always make me remember and I can show it off".
