Rattlegore - Weird Interaction

I was playing some Galakrond priest deck, so I generate randomly 2 copies of Shadowy Figure. On other side I get Bandersmosh from Brightwing. At this point i could play a Rattlegore from a transformed Bandersmosh, so it was a 5/5 minion and copy it with both Shadowy Figure (2/2 copies).

What happen was that after killing both Shadowy Figure transformed into the Rattlegore, was summon an 8/8 Rattlegore instead of a 1/1.

Now I understant that Rattlegore works checking the original card and not the original stats of the minion, but seems a bit confusing.

  • Its not really a weird interaction. Rattlegore is actually 8 minions in one, each an individual card. Its does not really interact with the health/attack of the minion itself, hence why Subdue doesnt just kill it all at once.

    Its more like team5's code for this card is actually very different from its description. Very confusing, to be honest.

      But isn't that weird? The card text for Rattlegore says "Resummon this with -1 -1," so it's logical to assume that whatever stats it's summoned in, that should be deducted when it's resummoned. S

        Yes, but thats how team5 coded it apparently. Maybe having to paste the exact value of Rattlegore on all 8 cards may just be too much to ask.

        Would've been cool to have the interaction actually fit its description as it makes deck building a little more interesting, but unfortunately its not to be.

  • I suppose "Deathrattle: summon an 8/8 Rattlegore. It gets 1/1 smaller each time it dies." would be a clear way to write it, so each successive Rattlegore can replace 8/8 with the appropriately sized X/X, and summoned copies would explicitly state how large it will be.

    While that may be better overall, I am personally OK with the current, super succinct description. At least it explains the base card well and is an instance where any confusion only leads to a pleasant surprise for the player who has a Rattlegore from another card, e.g. via Bandersmosh or Shadowy Figure.

      I make some testing with [Hearthstone Card (N'Zoth, the Corruptor) Not Found] and really happen this way (summon all diferent copies from 9/9 to 1/1). I firstly thought that the card works checking the orginal card stats without buffs and debufs (that's why I don't think about Subdue). What I do not consider was that Bandersmosh and Shadowy Figure works as effects applied on the card.

      Anyway, for the consistence of texting would be better use the "Deathrattle: summon an x/x Rattlegore" for each card of the secuence, avoiding this kind of situations.

  • Bandits mosh and Shadowy Figure make sense, since they’re basically becoming the original Rattlegore with stats set to a different amount (but in the game’s mind it’s still looking at it like an original Rattlegore with 9/9 base stats). It’s a bit weird, but it does make some sense (though they probably should’ve gone off of the Bandersmosh’s 5/5 stats, if his stats have the green color for when they’re higher than normal I guess it makes sense since it’s basically just a modified of the original and it’s just Bandersmosh being a weird card)

    I can guarantee though that the deathrattle isn’t summoning set tokens though, it’s just generating tokens based off of the original base stats of whatever has that deathrattle. As such, Undatakah summons a 7/4 Undatakah, and the Vectus tokens don’t summon anything because they’re 1/1’s.
