It was a very busy day yesterday with the new patch, so let's go over all the fun stuff that is taking place over the next week with Hearthstone's Forbidden Library Event!
You can find a full schedule of the Forbidden Library events here.
Mega Wild Pack Bundle Now Available
A new bundle has been added to the shop which included 56 card packs for one low price. If you want to save even more money, consider looking into Amazon Coins.
You're going to get 8 packs from each of the following wild sets:
- Mean Streets of Gadgetzan
- Journey to Un'Goro
- Knights of the Frozen Throne
- Kobolds & Catacombs
- The Witchwood
- The Boomsday Project
- Rastakhan's Rumble
We're only receiving packs from the more recent Wild sets, notably absent is Goblins vs Gnomes, The Grand Tournament, and Whispers of the Old Gods. I am curious if there is some reasoning behind this, perhaps some of these expansions will be included in a playable rotation with the upcoming new game mode. Purely speculation, we still have no clue what the new game mode is.
There was a pricing error for Canadians as the bundle went live yesterday but it has since been corrected.
The Mega Wild Bundle is available through September 14, 2020.
Battlegrounds Updates
A round of updates arrived into Battlegrounds today including the addition of Battlegrounds Parties! You can now invite up to 3 friends (for a total of 4 players) to play ranked Battlegrounds with and if you want to play a private game, parties of 5-8 will join their own Battlegrounds lobby.
We've also got three new heroes in the pool for that Scholomance flavor!
The fun doesn't end there though, because Blizzard also made some adjustments to the minion pool.
- Mecharoo has been removed from the Battlegrounds minion pool.
- Micro Mummy Added
- [Tier 1, Mech] 1 Attack, 2 Health
- Reborn. At the end of your turn, give another random friendly minion +1 Attack.
- There was an issue with Micro Mummy and it has been removed from the pool temporarily. (Cora)
- Pack Leader Update
- Old: 3 Attack, 3 Health. Whenever you summon a Beast, give it +3 Attack.
- New: 2 Attack, 3 Health. Whenever you summon a Beast, give it +2 Attack.
If you haven't played Battlegrounds in a while, be sure to give it a shot again because these are some great updates!
Scholar Jaina Datamined
We had a chance to look into the new Mage hero, Scholar Jaina, and unfortunately, we found out she doesn't have any custom voicelines. Scholar Jaina will be available next week if you're still interested, and she'll be arriving with the Book of Heroes Adventure.
Comments
I will pass on E-girl Jaina.
"ALL THIS STUFF...and disappointing Jaina..."
not goin' to lie, having "disappointing jaina" in the title gave me a chuckle.
I bought the Wild bundle to expand my collection and my deck building options for the format. I opened a bunch of bad epics, some decent ones, obtained missing rares from a few expansions and just 2 legendary cards. The first one was Archbishop Benedictus which is fine by me. The second one was... golden Whizbang the Wonderful. A little bit too late, unfortunately. I'll most likely disenchant him but i'm not totally sure yet. I still don't understand why they didn't keep the card available for standard. No need to move it to classic. Just making an exception for this card would be enough. It simply doesn't make sense in Wild. It's not like this card would break standard or anything like that. Really bad move on their part.
I opened Whizbang the Wonderful too! I will keep him because I am a “collector”, but what a dumb thing!
LOL.
So, the entire week 1 of a 3 week event is a pack bundle (which doesn't need to be in an event to exist - see Felosophy bundle) and a Battlegrounds update (which also doesn't need to be in an event to exist). It just feels so underwhelming...
The best part is that the felosophy bundle was better value for money, both on a per pack basis and because it comes with an unprecedented 2 legendaries in a bundle.
The last event was much bigger, because it was the only non-expansion update in its phase, while in this phase we will still get at least a whole new mode.
I know that this is a dificult time, where people are working from home and all that, but i would really like that they added unique voicelines to the special version of heroes, just like the 1000 wins portrait.
Lets hope that they add them in the future when they have more time for that.
I don’t understand why they sell the wild bundle before announcing the new mode that is supposed to involve our old collection.
I’m tempted to buy the bundle even though I play next to no wild, just for the satisfaction of collecting cards... but that’s something I simply don’t want to spent 35€ on.
If on the other hand, I knew there was a game mode at the horizon that requires a large wild collection for full satisfaction ...
Same here. I'm not going to do the bundle, so I'm just going to assume that the new mode won't require wild cards. If so, that's a major missed opportunity on Blizzard's part.
I'm pretty sure they explicitly stated it will involve Wild cards, so I agree with you and Bersak that it seems like a missed opportunity. I wouldn't be surprised if this was still being done to help bolster Wild collections in preparation for the new game mode, even if they should really telegraph that properly.
Thanks for the nice summary.
