This is probably my favorite of the old gods. I like combo decks, and this is very interesting way to go about it. This one card in and of itself is both the setup, and the combo. I think it will be good in any deck that can draw a lot, or really any deck than plans on playing the long game. I am definitely very excited to play with this card and try to build a deck to make it work.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
Any deck willing to have four mediocre cards shuffled into its deck will be rewarded with one very strong card. I think that this probably struggles to see play outside of a very slow deck, just because each of the pieces are so bad to draw against aggro.
Compare to N'zoth in similar decks, your set-up cards are good anti aggro tools, and the payoff is very strong, but not game winning.
With this card, your set-up cards are notably weaker, especially body and maw of C'thun, but the pay-off can just win the game.
This post is discussing the wild format.
I love it, only problem is that it is a card that is geared towards Control Decks, which are absolutely awful right now.
This ain't no place for a hero
A way to cheat all the unnecessary shuffles is to get it thru card generation. Imagine that.
Sadly, Dragon's Hoard can't discover neutral legendary

This in Wild Shudderwock Quest Shaman.
I notice I am confused. Something I believe isn't true. How do I know what I think I know?

decent with stowaway?
I love this card already. I like playing the older C'thun decks, and i will love playing this one. I wonder if C'Thun, the Shattered will get buffed in wild after playing one of the C'Thun cards? If not then it's a big dissapointment, even if C'Thun, the Shattered is supposed to be more of a OTK card in itself.
Standard: This will certainly see play in control decks, but those aren't the best right now. If any deck can certainly use this, it's certainly galakrond priest. Galakrond priest generally wins by generating a lot of value, but they can slot in C'Thun, the Shattered as another win-condition.
Wild: Maybe in some other control decks? Honestly it depends how the pieces work, if it doesn't shuffle copies, then highlander control decks might consider it. If it shuffles copies, then highlander decks will ignore C'Thun, the Shattered. Seems like a card with a lot of potential.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
On first glance, this goes in a deck that likes to draw a lot, although those tend to be aggressive.
This however is very good in Control decks since the tokens are "fair" (not great, but acceptable) cards by themselves, and the reward is definitely strong for what you get.
The playability of this card lives and dies by the viability of Control decks. If Control decks are viable, then this will absolutely see play. But if it isn't, then it won't.
Pretty good card for any control deck, the pieces provide good value for their cost, they save you 4 turns of fatigue and add additional control tools outside of your deck. And on top of that, you will get 30dmg aoe. Yup, seems good.
PS: added tokens :)

Okay, since cthun doesnt actually start in the deck, that means you can't cheat him out without something like Emperor Thaurissan or Imprisoned Satyr. And its a deal 30 damage to all enemies at the end, which in most cases will not seal the deal but set yourself for victory.
The pieces are decent, but a bit expensive. Since Cthun is basically a win condition, it will still see play, but will likely only ever be tier 2, unless there's a broken way to cheat out those pieces for cheap.
Edit: Got confirmation that Cthun will form inside your deck once you play all 4 pieces. So that's another layer of rng. Probably because of that it will fit very well into rogue, or any deck that can afford to hold onto pokelt without dying.
This thrives is slower decks as 4 extra cards is good for control, even if they are slightly mediocre.
Combo decks can cycle pretty fast and I can see some experimenting there.
Standard card in best case scenario.
Remember how old C'Thun decks looked good for their strong Tempo bodies but ended up being worse than class synergies?
This C'Thun will be the same.
Interesting! This might not be meta-breaking but looks fun. So, is C'thun added to your hand after playing all 4 pieces?
Expect Eye of C'Thun graphic nerf - it looks like a d*ck. Cannot unsee now.
All parts seem a bit under powered but c'thun itself is just a really strong finisher for control decks.
Like the flavor of the card.
Should see play in good cycle decks.
Only downside of the card I see is its a forced combo since the combo components only work with each other.
He is added to your Deck, not hand. I believe that was specified on stream.
Casual Dragon Cardgame enthusiast.
Ohh i can see this in my Cthun Rogue deck, rogue can draw shuffled cards with ease, and can abuse the battlecry multiple times (via SS or Tog Scheme). The problem will be.. well.. surviving as rogue can't actually heal.
This looks fun as hell. OG C'Thun was fun and the build up to a big slap was rewarding. This does the same thing, but with very different accumulation, and a damage cap.

Looks great fun. And goes well in a 'minion only' deck with Spiteful Summoner and Grand Archivist, or at least will give that a try!
I know they won't, but imagine if they added a few cards that buff C'Thun's stats, like the in Whispers. And then imagine that in Wild those worked with both C'Thun, the Shattered and C'Thun!
Again, they won't. But I can dream, can't I?!
Quick! Someone give me something clever to write here.
With Tour Guide, you can potentially deal 60 damage thanks to Quest Shaman. Seeing as how that deck's win condition is through double Cumulo-Maximus battlecry (which makes the deck clunky because of the Overload) and maybe Pen Flinger constantly pinging, droping those packages in favor of a more streamlined control version with battlecry minions can be an alternative way to build the deck.
Will that be better than current Quest Shaman? I'm not sure, but it can be less inconsistent.
EDIT: Also, control priest gets a win condition outside of Galakrond value.
Rating cards on coolness factor rather than predicting power because I like screwing up rating averages (and because I suck at predicting real power levels, but we'll ignore that LUL)
Wins per class (2/6/22): DH-197; Druid-996; Hunter-91«60; Mage-1056; Paladin-1126; Priest-746; Rogue-961; Shaman-1095; Warlock-871; Warrior-906
Will it really be possible? Hope not, sounds really unfair, but with this wording they wouldhave to remove it from the pool of generated legendaries.
C'Thun, the Shattered seems like it will be really powerful in Druid, where tons of cards care about holding and playing 5 drop spells, and card draw is widely available.
Druid says Hi
I know it's a bit overwhelming and unfair, but Blizzard never said directly about this unless we ask.
and there's a reason why I think this card can be generated with cards like Brightwing or Bandersmosh, since the card itself has a battlecry written.
If blizzard intended to stop the cheating, they would probably just written it without the battlecry, and create a battlecry version after the split. Then the card itself will become like Prime Version of minion and not possible to be generated in any way except by normal way.
EDIT. It would probably better to ask Blizzard directly anyway.

So I guess the pieces go into your deck, then after you play the 4th piece you get the card in your hand?
Sounds quite overkilled to me, but still somewhat interestin
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
You don't want 5 drops with spiteful.
and archivist playing maw of C'thun and destroying itself.. or hellfiring the board?
I agree with people suggesting druid.. the class has both the spare mana, and the need for removal..
I mean Assassinate is great in a class lacking hard removal, so is Hellfire in a class lacking aoe..
Obliterate.
This looks good for stalling in Even Hunter. I can use the 5-costs to clear the board in prep for 6,8, and the ultimate 10 drop.
I think ramp druid will enjoy this. They'd actually appreciate an assassinate!
What does it happen when you get him from other cards (like Brightwing? The Start of Game won't trigger, but as it's weirdly worded it might imply that you get it with it's full size?
I hope C'thun will make into a Shuderwock deck in wild
C'thun v2.0 and Yogg-Saron, Master of Fate are the most interesting designed cards out of the old gods, and I'm sure C'thun would work wonders in a quest warlock.
Lets just pray Team 5 forgot what aggro is and only made control cards for this expansion :D
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
I wouldn't think it would due to the card being named slightly differently. The old C'Thun is named just that. This is a "new" version which doesn't have the exact same name. But that's my opinion
I honestly don't see a downside to this card being in your deck. Judging solely on the cards that have been revealed so far, this set is setting up to bring Control decks back into the fray which is a breath of fresh air in this Aggro dominated meta.
Interesting, maybe something will happen with this.

I'm not too high on the power level of this card. While the payoff is powerful, it feels incredibly slow because you have to pay 20 mana to get the full C'Thun, so that's a total of 30 mana for 30 damage randomly split among all enemies.
Control decks will undoubtedly love this, but it could also dilute your deck because the pieces of C'Thun, while potentially useful tools in control decks, are mostly bad to mediocre for 5 mana.
Don't get me wrong though, I think this card will be exciting to play. I do enjoy control decks that thrive on long, grindy games, and this is the perfect card for those. Maybe this can slot into the current Control Shaman shell as some late-game bomb since that deck's survivability is high, and of course, a Control/Big Warrior package.
C'thun was always my favorite of the OG OGs, and I am greatly enthused by his return. I have two deck ideas in the works and can't wait to see how they support him in the rest of the set.
Can't wait for the clips of people failing to play around Counterspell.
I'm quite sure it won't be in the random generation pool.
my grandfather's deck has no weak cards CTHUN OBLITERATE
TOTAL CORRUPTION
TOTAL POWAAAAAAA
I like it I live for stupid combos and this seems right up my alley
Self proclaimed good at battlegrounds
The golden animation is definitely worth checking out. I've never crafted a golden legendary; now I'm considering it.
Arthas was my first, if Cthun sees play this will be my second one for sure.

Way too slow, at least I really hope it will not see play competitively.
A lot of build up to make this work, and definitely needs to be built around. Best chance for this will probably be rogue I would think.
It's my golden craft for the expansion. Will put it in every highlander list I make, and some rogue decks. Even if it doesn't kill, it will most likely clear their board. Really like the card a ton.
"Some inspirational quote from some famous person" - Some famous person
Ramp druid might make a great deck around this
All hail the banshee queen.
Looks like a good win condition for slow decks like control priest.
And Rogue can collect all pieces quickly.
By The Holy Light!
Paring Malevolent Strike with C'Thun helps offset some of the pain of the sub-par spells.
I like the approach to C'thun this go around. You see the pieces being played and have an idea of how much longer you have to try and finish the game. It is kind of a slow inevitibility to the card.
Unfortunately, common sense isn't as common as it should be.
I think this is a fine "I win now" card for a lot of control decks, most of the pieces seem fine to play as is.
Hey, you heard about that Mario guy?
This card, while very fun and satisfying to pay off, is still quite slow, but I like it anyway.
Whatever deck plays this, wake me up after you kill me.
Chumbawumba is the worst band name.
Out of the Old Gods, C'Thun, the Shattered is noticeably the slowest of them. It might be difficult to get to C'Thun in the tempo-based metas we've seen all year. Also, C'Thun isn't guaranteed to end the game as enemy minions can absorb the battlecry damage, so enemies who know C'Thun will enter play soon once it is shuffled into your deck will try to build a board to absorb as much C'Thun damage as possible. I still think C'Thun is a viable win condition, but it's going to require a deck with a degree of swiftness to get C'Thun down for C'Thun to make sense.
For glory, honor, and gold!
This is a very slow way to win a game of Hearthstone, and it requires you to play four 5 cost Spells (none of which you would willingly put into your deck on their own). It just takes too long to set up to be any fun to play, and it doesn't feel reliable enough to consistently win you games.
I don't want to cure cancer; I want to turn people into dinosaurs.
Love it. Rogue seems like the most obvious deck for it, but there's certainly other classes to consider it for, especially the traditionally lategame ones. Priest and Warrior seem like contenders.
Welcome to the site!
C'Thun is now Voltron. Love it!
Bro tip. Don't run your deck having this guy as a win condition. In three plays I destroyed the hope of my rival with one Counterspell after the other.

'm getting inconsistent performance with Even Hunter.
I put the card in there, sometimes Genn isn't activated, leaving a 2 mana Power. It's 50/50.
Anyone else get this bug?
