With this past week's introduction of the rewards track and achievements, life has been completely changed in Hearthstone. Get ready to have your world turned upside down again because if you want to really maximize your value early on, you're going to want to spend the next couple of days working on those Darkmoon Faire achievements without owning any of the cards.
Thanks to Alleria for putting together a thread on our forums to discuss these.
The Achievements
There are only a few of these achievements that can be earned early. Interestingly though, they do not need to be completed by the class that they belong to.
Ride Together, Die Together (Hunter)
This achievement requires that you control 3 Deathrattle minions, all of which are identical.
Do you want to do this the easy way? Toxic Reinforcements from Galakrond's Awakening is here to save the day! Completing this sidequest easily will result in 200 XP added to your rewards track.
An alternative way to complete this is to get two of the same Deathrattle minions on the field and cloning them. Faceless Manipulator would be an easy way to knock this one out too.
MisterFerro completed the achievement using Gift of Luminance on his 2nd Leper Gnome.
How were you really supposed to do this? Blizzard is expecting you to use Jewel of N'Zoth.
Two Punch Man (Shaman)
No one is powerful enough to fight the One Punch Man, but Blizzard figures we can at least get the job done with two.
You're supposed to complete this achievement by using the new Shaman Legendary, Inara Stormcrash, but no one has the time to wait for her or the budget for that.
Making use of Doomhammer for that sweet Windfury buff will get us there with a simple double cast of Rockbiter Weapon.
For a non-Shaman take, buff up your Demon Hunter attack and slam! No matter how you complete this, 200 XP is yours from the achievement.
Lothraxion's Balloon Shop (Paladin)
This achievement is really easy if you pick up a copy of Balloon Merchant during Darkmoon Faire, but we're impatient and want those rewards now.
There isn't anything special with this one. Summon some dudes through your Hero Power, Lost in the Jungle, Muster for Battle, or the other seemingly infinite Paladin cards which summon them, and then follow it up with a card that can grant them Divine Shield. Purifier's Maul (via Unidentified Maul) makes quick work of the achievement and could easily net you a handful of progression in each game provided RNG is in your favor. If it isn't, you can always make use of Steward of Darkshire.
There are three achievements in this series, so if you end up summoning 100 Silverhand Recruits and give them all Divine Shield, you'll end up with a total of 700 XP in that reward track.
Wheel of Misfortune & Yogg Take the Wheel
We're into the Neutral side of achievements now from the Darkmoon Faire and you're going to need to pray to the RNG gods even more than usual to get this one.
First, you're going to need to make yourself a deck in Hearthstone Duels, the new game mode that debuted ahead of Madness at the Darkmoon Faire. In here, we're looking for loot that will give us Yogg-Saron, Master of Fate. You'll want to start your game with heavy use of spells to try and influence the buckets that will contain this beautiful many-mouthed deity (Mage is recommended).
You'll then just need to spin the wheel and hope for the best.
Of course, in just a couple of days, you can complete these achievements as a F2P player once you've opened your packs, so this is all just a bit silly.
Good luck with grinding that experience!
Comments
I completed the Revolve achievement easily with combination Mad Summoner at turn 7 (Ranked Wild).
Any reason you stopped saying what the achievement requirements were after the first one?
Thanks Flux for mentioning my idea :) Sure, Darkmoon Faire is about to start, but it´s still good to know that you don´t have to craft new legendaries to complete the achievements, many are doable in Casual Duels now.
Has anyone else noticed that achievements popping up can spoil things? I was playing Battlegrounds and was just cueing into a battle when the Achievement for "Playing a game with (whatever hero I was)" showed up in the bottom left. That told me I was dead. It's impressive that the game can calculate the battle results that quickly, but I would prefer if it not tell me until it's happened.
Yeah, they don't work in casual, because why would they? Why not let us make crazy achievement hunting decks and play them how we like without wrecking our precious ladder ranking? Why keep kicking us while we're down? Why all the questions?
They are all doable in Casual Duels now, so you don´t need to play weird decks on ladder, and thanks to pools you can manage to complete the achievements that require new legendaries, even without owning them :)
Just do them when you hit a floor in the ranking, like rank 10 or 5.
Lol, is this for real? If so, it's another nail in the coffin. It is possible to complete them in Duels (with all the craziness of that mode), but not in the only constructed mode in which you are actually not punished for doing silly stuff. Oh Blizzard, give me a break.
I agree, I would've like to see them working in Casual. I can confirm that at least Wild Casual looks a lot like Ranked these days, but comes without the inevitable decline of your rank while trying to meme the achievements.
Got the new Yogg as a Duel pick. Next match I kept it in my hand because I REALLY wanted to play it: My opponent conceded the turn before it was active. Following match, I got my third defeat. Yogg was not on my side.
I completed the achievement that requires you to deal lethal damage with Mask of C'Thun, which I managed to do with rogue by generating one from Wand Thief. Felt good ngl
Another one to add to the list above - you can complete the Shaman Grand Totem Eys'or quest chain (several hundred XP for buffing totems) in duels too. If you use the upgraded hero power, it often generates Eys'or as an option. I grinded a bit of Shaman in duels yesterday and buffed hundreds of totems easily.
I got the Treasure that fills your board with 1/1 copies of a minion. I copied Eys'or from my opponent and ended the turn with seven 7/7 Eys'or's and gained a bunch of experience. Still lost (the competition is fierce, isn't it?!)
I also managed to complete the first stage of the E.T.C. achievement because I was offered him in a bucket in a Duels run. That probably means all the achievements can be earned early if you manage to pull the pieces together in Duels, but perhaps more importantly makes it possible to get the achievements without needing to own all the cards. I'm sure there are some that are too impractical to do this way, but it is nonetheless a few extra.
Sadly these points can not be unlocked in non-rankes it seems like. :/
At least some points we can get pretty easy. Better than nothing. ^^
"Sadly these points can not be unlocked in non-rankes it seems like."
IMHO, it's "gladly" rather than "sadly".
i completed shaman quest while playing demon hunter... it actually has no class limitations somehow LUL
Yeah, I noticed some of my progress bar going up even without having played the class.
A small consolation because damned if I was going to give up an arm or a leg to finish any of these.
I mean, is anyone surprised at this point?:D At least we can have extra fun :)
