Combo card pool is small enough to make Whirlkick Master a genuine threat, but stats are underwhelming. Bad tempo play on turn 2. From my experience playing with Underbelly Fence, which also requires activation, rogue has a lot of matchups where you'd prefer a tempo play on 2 to equipping a weapon. Not sure if this makes the cut.
C-C-C-Combo enabler!
Perfect card : 5/7
What I really wonder is, Will Whirlkick Master be enough to make Defias Ringleader sees some competitive play or not.
+ With Whirlkick Master, maybe there could be a new miracle rogue after they burry it. Damn I really missed good old miracle rogue days.
Both cards are so good. So is the art.
not sure why they would powercreep Waggle Pick after the Pirate Rogue fiasco, but hey, now that Raiding Party was nerfed it's okay I guess?
Whirlkick master seems good but I feel like it'll end up overrated. there aren't too many low cost combo cards so you're probably not gonna chain more than 2 per turn
Whirlkick Master would be so good, if it wasn't for the fact that the Combo pool in standard is really small; now, that would normally be a good thing. Unfortunately, in this very small pool there's also Kidnapper. A card that consistently adds to your hand bad cards is unfortunately not that good.
Edit: Full list of the card pool in Standard; Cold Blood, Defias Ringleader, Eviscerate, Cutthroat Buccaneer, EVIL Miscreant, Edwin VanCleef, Headcrack, Hooked Scimitar, Perdition's Blade, SI:7 Agent, Raiding Party, Crazed Chemist, Kidnapper. So the pool is actually pretty large
Whirlick Master seems op to me, good finisher also the combo cards are generally pretty good overall
Hooked Scimitar is gonna replace Waggle Pick for more aggressive plays
Waggle Pick is more like Mid-range tempo and more value based tempo
So if you want to go more aggressive with rogue, Hooked Scimitar is better in general, doesn't disturb board either.
Whirlkick Master looks good, has a bit of RNG but since it is combo cards it is very likely to get at least 1 or 2 combo cards, if you have enough mana for even more combo cards, it is even better. Whirlkick Master will be a threat if not removed early. And it will be likely to be played together with other combo cards at same turn.
Edwin VanCleef never dies.
He been Rockin' the ladder since 2014 ^^
Both seem very good to me. There’s not much to say about weapon.
Whirlkick Master on the other hand is similar to the play style of rogue the last expansion. It uses card generation over draw. I think this is ok because card draw options for rogue (other than myras, which is not that reliable imo) is not very effective. Also it is underrated that generated cards make it harder for your opponent to make hand reads. So I guess the card is good enough to see play
Great point, and probably says something about the two classes I play (Rogue/Mage)
Both of these cards look quite amazing actually. Combo pool is not that big either, not to mention in Standard rotation. You can consistently "draw" from a very small pool of cards. Interesting.
I'm not really sure what to think of Whirlkick Master. It has a cool effect, but my gut instinct is that it's not all that great. Perhaps we'll see other synergies that will make it more compelling, but one of the things Rogues are never lacking is resources (from draw effects or burgle effects). Drawing a card from your deck is probably better than getting a random combo card (i.e. fewer than half of the standard combo cards see regular play), and the burgle cards have enough support to make them more valuable than random cards from your own class. Maybe this is a good source of resource generation in the late game where you can string these combo cards together all in one turn, but if the game goes that late you're probably losing to the classes that have Hero cards.
Hooked Scimitar seems like a solid weapon - kind of a Truesilver Champion for one less mana, and if you can get it down on turn 3 (maybe with a Preparation into some spell into Hooked Scimitar), it curves nicely into Blade Flurry on turn 4. (It's not exactly clear how often a Rogue would want to do a board clear on turn 4, but it seems like a reasonable tech choice against token decks.)
Nice weapon to use with Dread Corsair turn 3, huh? Are pirates making a comeback?
Turn 2 even, if you have The Coin.
Kidnapper winrate gonna change ! Kappa
first thought the minion is shit, but saw the gameplay from the the video and it was really promising Hooked Scimitar to SI:7 Agent into Edwin VanCleef, with just a few spare mana you can keep rolling
Whirlkick Master is basically Underbelly Angler stats are a bit low but its good value
Ccccccombo rogue support... Triple edwin here i come!
