While Blizzard may have been late to tweet about it yesterday, deciding at 4 PM Eastern to announce to the world that yesterday, April 15, was the first Nozdormu Day, this still remains an important date to remember!
When the Core set got integrated into Hearthstone, it came along with a reimagined version of Nozdormu that brought us a real version of speedstone, or blitz as some like to call it. By including a Nozdormu the Eternal into your deck and your opponent doing the same, every single turn that game is only going to be 15 seconds long. This is a very hard goal to pull off though because no one in their right mind is going to run this card when they want to climb on up - that's what Nozdormu Day changes.
So, every 15th of the month, consider having some fun in Hearthstone and swapping out a card in your favourite deck with Nozdormu so you can partake in the fun.
We'll be sure to remind you about it in advance instead of letting you know last minute so we can grow our chances of some super fast matches.
I'm glad Blizzard decided to make this official. When we originally saw Nozdormu added to the game, I had been thinking it would be great if the community gave the card a certain day each month to give us a higher chance of having fun with it. The 15th makes plenty of sense to keep it consistent, though I do think a good addition to this new celebration would be that when it lands on a weekend, both Saturday and Sunday of that weekend should be Nozdormu Weekend.
Quote From No Author Specified PSA: It is Nozdormu Day!
Starting TODAY, the 15th of every month will be henceforth known as Nozdormu Day! If you love Nozdormu, put him in your deck for some high-speed games!
Why is the 15th of Each Month Nozdormu Day?
The 15th of each month is Nozdormu Day because it is a reference to the 15 seconds that each player has to take their turn when Nozdormu is present in both decks.
How Do I Participate in Nozdormu Day?
All you need to do is put Nozdormu the Eternal in your deck. The normal 30 card limit applies so you're going to have to remove something for him, but that's part of the fun!
Comments
Uhm, but it's the 16th of April today? So isn't this news a day late?
It helps if you read the article as this was covered.
Blizzard posted about it late in the day yesterday. Us covering it yesterday would have been even dumber than their announcement IMO.
It still bears comments that Blizzard was late with this announcement. Like strangely late.
Yeah, stupid reader! It helps if you read every article on this website within an hour of its posting!
How is that even relevant? LMFAO
Wow
That's not even what was said. Flux was just saying the article itself mentions in the first sentence the weird time Blizzard decided to post their tweet
Honestly, to make this card more appealing to put in your deck they needed to do something to make viable. 7 for an 8/8 with no real value being brought to the game in itself is not worth doing. NOW if they did something like 4 for an 8/8, who wouldn't want that in their deck? The draw back? IF your opponent thought the same thing, now you are both limited to the time of only 15 second turns.
Or even something more fun... make the card a real pain to deal with and one of the few ways to negate it is to use the same card against it making people more inclined to include it in their decks. Other that that, it's just a waste of a card slot even if just for the memes
Sorry, mate, but both of those ideas are incredibly bad.
I made a Wild deck for this day. Dragon Malygos Warlock! It was not good!
However, the deck would likely have had a +50% win rate last night if not for all the APM Mages I faced! At one point I hit about 5 in a row, and each time the killed me by popping off on turn 5!
One fun thing about the deck though was Frizz into drawing 5 mana vanilla 8/8 Noz! The times I got him for 5 mana were the only highlights he had because no one I faced had him!
why dont they code in for each 15th of the month a special matchmaking where if u Q with Nozdormu u will get paired with another person running it. sure it will take more time to find a person but why not? this way i believe u can Q all u want with Noz and u still wont get a single matched opponent
This would be a cool addition to the casual ladder for the day.
I'd love to see them experiment more with a new constructed mode that worked exactly like casual but had a rotating ruleset for a day or two. Sort of like a mini Tavern Brawl, but there could be a set rotation of "affixes" that we'd cycle through a few times an expansion, with new sets dropping a rule or two and bringing in new ones that would be thematic.
I know people are like "but Flux, you just described Tavern Brawl, why do we need two versions of it" and I totally get that, but, my issue with Tavern Brawl is we don't have constructed brawls every week. So many brawls are just randomized decks or some variation on it that it feels kinda silly. Also, your brawl deck gets wiped each week, this mode would just let you pull a collection deck. Oh, and there's also the whole part of brawls being inconsistent so you can go a year without seeing a good repeat again.
It would be neat to have a more regularly occurring weekend/day where you could only play Tinyfin decks (Commons and Rares only). Some ideas for a rotation:
A typical expansion cycle lasts around 17 weeks. With 5 different ways to play, you'll see each of them around 3 times an expansion. You start off with the two flavor ones that are built for that specific expansion.
Perhaps you also rotate the third affix, but do that in the middle of an expansion cycle. Keep Tinyfin for accessibility and Nozdormu for the luls permanently.
very interesting take yes, and some cool suggestions. Undoubtedly the Nozdormu should be included at some point. I mean Blitz games was immediately suggested by the community on day one of its reveal.
Tinyfin is a great reference to MtG pauper matches, which im totally in for. I agree that theres a lot of different game variants that can be included for standard ladder decks, that doesnt rely on the crazy effects and random stuff that exists in current tavern brawls
The card should have taunt I think. I'm very open to this but I dont like the idea of having a dead card in my deck against heavy aggro which is always in the meta. Against a rogue or face hunter if I somehow get to 7 mana and I play a 7 mana 8/8 I will just concede after because my opponent will hit me for assumably 1 point of damage and I die right after that.
I am more than aware that core cards can't be crafted. There's this silly immediate reaction still that everything in the game needs to be crafted outside of adventures because, you know, for 7 years Hearthstone didn't spoil us with free stuff.
I feel bad for all future opponents that I face during future Nozdormu Days because I will not participate. My old ass processor will not be able to handle it.
My processor can't handle it either.
Can't upgrade cos it's biolocked inside my skull.
See you next month!
If you don't give player incentive to do it, it's not gonna happen, and you'll end up losing precious ladder games...
Play casual :P
Of course, I agree with the fact that this has a place in the casual mode, it's just that I'd like to see some sort of special quest given out on the 15th if Blizzard wants people to actually join this initiative.
