Looks like the kind of card that exists only to enable degenerate combos and nothing else. I doubt it will replace Whackhammer in Tempo decks.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
Well, most of elementals have battlecry so even more discount on them.
What's the most powerful card in Hearthstone?
A credit card.
A lot of mana discounts this expansion. This is cheap and is basically free if you manage to hit a Battlecry minions with this twice.
I'm not sold on this. Does it make more sense to play this instead of the minion buffing weapon? In wild it could get some nice payoffs in a Shudderwock deck.
Unfortunately, common sense isn't as common as it should be.
Still think Whack-A-Gnoll Hammer is better. However this isn't bad. Discounts are always strong.

Too much competition is why this card will never see play. At the moment, its literally only Whack-A-Gnoll Hammer and Doomhammer. Anything not named those two things just never get included.
Maybe it sees something in control shaman with bolner + ysharaaj end game. Then this card has some reason to exist because it literally allows you to finish the game 2 turns earlier. But my take is that its simply not worth the bother.
It's mana cheat, mana cheat is always good. Will probably be the weapon of choice in controlling shaman decks to tutor with Cagematch Custodian.
Solid 3 star. In a class that has been given a number of weapon options, it would be a hard decision between this, Doomhammer, and Whack-A-Gnoll Hammer to have in the deck

Just discounted 2 I don't think it's worth it, maybe on next cycle when there are less weapons but I dunno.

This in a Reno Shudder deck is really cool, early cheap removal or soft face damage, but the discount... get it on the Wock and forget about Tour Guide.

Solid weapon. If only it would reduce the mana cost of any card in your hand instead of a minion, right?
The randomness of the battlecry might be too awkward for this card to see constructed play, but in Arena this card will be very strong. In Arena it doesn't matter as much which card gets discounted. Discounts on any card are always welcome.

Hmm this is just a weird card. As long as you have a battlecry minion in hand with each swing it's "technically" a 0 mana 2/2 weapon. But it still just seems.. bad.
The only use i can think of really in standard is: turn 2 Auctionhouse Gavel into turn 3 Granite Forgeborn. But even then i think Auctionhouse Gavel is just bad. Most elemental shaman decks prefer running Doomhammer and/or Whack-A-Gnoll Hammer, and running Auctionhouse Gavel just seems bad compared to those 2. Not only that but running Auctionhouse Gavel alongside those 2 might ruin the Cagematch Custodian by drawing Auctionhouse Gavel when you actually wanted one of those 2 other weapons.
In wild it MIGHT have a use: Discounting Shudderwock or some other battlecry you want to use for a combo or something. Still why not use any other mana cheat card instead, like Emperor Thaurissan.
Auctionhouse Gavel just seems bad...
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
Shaman is known to support battlecry minions. But not sure what deck this weapon would slot into as there's much better weapons available to Shaman. Guess maybe a Bolner Hammerbeak OTK combo deck would use this

And they are not mutually exclusive ; you could run both - not that you should tho.
On an semi-related note, with all those hammers, it feels like shaman really just wanted to become judges or auctioneers maybe

Mana cheat for combos is probably better done through lightning bloom
Maybe a little toy for the fangs that bite and claws that catch
It would be amazing at 3 attack, but with 2 I don't think it's that great a card. We'll see if any Battlecry decks make it work, though
Shaman already has so many cards for its Elemental lists, I don't know if this makes the cut without a specific combo in mind. They don't particularly need more discounts, and they have better weapons they could be running instead.
