Very OP deck in the latest tavern brawl

Has anyone else gotten matched against the warrior mercenaries deck (I forget the number) that has 4 copies of Patches the Pirate in it? I won two games with my initial big druid deck, then two games a dragon paladin deck. My first match against the warrior deck saw me losing on turn 5. Then I beat a hapless Warlock and felt so dirty that I decided to throw my next game to get that deck out of the contest. Unfortunately it seems to have spread faster than Hakkar, the Soulflayer's plague and it was the next four decks I played against. I think I'm done with this brawl.
p.s. I hope I did the card linking thing right. If this shows any edits it was to fix that.

Unfortunately, common sense isn't as common as it should be.
I managed to beat that deck with my dragon 28 paladin. He tried so hard. I guess it remained one of the few survivors of natural selection lol

I won my first match on my 1st go, priest miracles 28. Got the card pack....don't really care past that.
Mercenaries 14 is the deck, and yeah it's pretty insane. Pirate warrior on steroids basically.
I actually beat 4 in a row of them with a different Warrior deck (a lategame control one) but then I got highrolled the 5th time and now Mercensaries 14 is the only thing I see
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
I assume this is on US server, been playing this morning on EU and haven't seen it yet. In fact I haven't seen any deck more than once yet.
I'm also on eu and see it everywhere.
Yeah, EU is all Mercenaries 14 and NA is all Mercenaries 280. Very fun.
yes, after a few games you only see the Mercenaries - there are some control decks and a paladin aggro deck which can beat it if it draws badly but overall it will be the deck everyone plays
Can we all agree that the decent thing you can do is to concede to the next non-Mercenary 14 deck you play against? I'm sick of it already
This. I think they need to early retire it, because it's the only deck left on ladder.
And my Druid deck was called "Swarming" :D hilariously balanced, looking forward to playing this for myself now!
I still think it's a pretty interesting experiment and even if I lost interest in playing the brawl by now I'm looking forward to seeing if it will still be the same deck plaguing the brawl at the end of the week or if some other deck will take over.
They could reset all the decks after ~2 days, because that isn't going away lol.
I mean, it's the whole point of the brawl, but it's making the brawl pretty boring. So why not announce who won in a short post from a community manager to explain what's going on, then reset.
Btw, does this deck swap also work with friend duels? If so, people could 'share' decks to beat this.
Everytime i get Mercenaries 280
i concede to the next different deck i see
I managed to beat that with my big hunter deck that has 4 total victories. Imagine if Patches still had Charge!
While the evolution idea is quite interessting, I thought beforehand, we'd get random decks. With truly random decks, it would model evolution far better. Thus, I'd also suggest mutations. So after a few games, the deck mutates- meaning a single card is replaced. With this, we'd really have a Survival of the Fittest! Although, in the beginning most deck would feel crap to play, or play against.
But didn't it start with fully random decks? And someone just highrolled this thing? I guess they base their decks around some archetypes, like the factions from a dungeon run, that's how the deck got so good so fast?
Not sure, when I started to play, that mercenary deck was everywhere already. But my first deck was pretty random (aka super bad).
They weren't completely random, my guess is the buckets that were used in the previous tavern brawl/Dalaran Heist were used and then the picks were random from those. Merc 280 just got a lot of pirate buckets
So I conceded until I got the Merc 280 deck. My first game I played it, i got T2 ship's cannon + nzoth's (+coin). That's just sick.
I don't think they're going to reset the brawl or retire any specific deck. This is the whole point of the brawl, to see which sickly overpowered random deck makes it to the end.
But that's the thing, we already know what's gonna win. It has already won, tbh.
If they really do not reset then they should atleast make it start with completely random decks next time, like someone else already suggested. That way the brawl won't be 'finished' as early as this one.
Got down to 1 health but managed to stabilize with some taunt minions like Tar Creeper and eventually won.
Well, I was trying to fish for non mercenary decks and came across this technology mage (1015 I think) with ~100 wins. Gotten it 3 times with different win numbers already. It seems to spread decently or I wouldn't see it this much. Its early game doesn't seem consistent enough though. I always Mulligan full early game, but maybe I've just been unlucky.
Unfortunately this mage deck got rid of the dragon priest (dragonfire) I had before which was actually pretty good.
Edit: playing on EU
Seems like it's working out.
I had that deck, its actually good vs mercenary 14 but a dragon warrior defeated me.
That brawl really answers questions which are "What is meta?", "How does meta shape?" and "What if we don't balance the game?"
All of the Brawl decks will be "Mercenaries 14" after everyone beats everyone.
I have played like 20 games against "Mercenaries 14" as "Mercenaries 14".
It is what happened back in Jade Druids vs Pirate Warriors meta. There were only those two decks around in that time.

Hi. Sorry if this comes across badly, but it's a genuine question (I know, never start with an apology...)
Why do you keep playing the brawl, instead of ranked or solo?
I mean, you could say that in general the Meta starts out with weak decks, which get crushed later on by refined decks and this Brawl demonstrates that well enough. But this Brawl's Meta is not how Metas in Hearthstone generally work.
It doesn't really answer the questions, but could give someone who hears that word for the first time a general idea of what that term means in Hearthstone.
Sorry for misunderstanding, I meant what you said in the first sentence. It explains the progress of shaping of meta. I don't mean its meta is same with ranked. I have highlighted the sentence of your comment.
It is absolutely how you describe. I know and agree brawl's meta isn't how metas in Hearthstone generally work.

no, its ok. It didn't annoy me and its a fine question. :)
I don't play this game like a job. A collectible card game shouldn't be a place where people became furious. I mean, We are enjoying this game, aren't we ?
I like to play some brawls repeatedly just because they are funny to play and don't like to play some brawls more than once. When a new brawl comes out, I'm testing it if I can play it more than once and if it can give me enough enjoyement. I am playing this game to enjoy afterall.
Also, The rewarding system isn't well enough for ranked in this game, in any game of the world. I mean, staying around rank 1 or rank 18 doesn't feel any different and doesn't reward player so different. Sometimes it can be even more frustrating to play around rank 5 because all players at that rank trying so hard, bm'ing etc. Also playing around rank 15 have a good variety of decks. When I'm about to win at rank 11's last star, I am conceding instantly, because I feel really frustrated to play against the same decks all the time even if i win them repeatedly. I have reached the legend once and it doesn't really well-rewarding to achieve that once again so I am staying around rank 15-11 most of the time for my sake. Sometimes I can achieve rank 10 accidentaly, They can concede before me sometimes. :)
Casual have different problems. Almost all people plays casual for daily 100 gold or completing quests which creates a new meta for casual most of the time. Because of daily 100 cap, people plays hyper aggro in casual and they simply sponge on people who wants to play their silly, meme-y, greedy decks.
Because of all those situations, Brawls can be funnier to play from time to time. Especially when The Brawl gives random decks. Because when The Brawl have the restriction that is "Build a deck with ...", it becomes boring in 1,5 - 2 days with all of the netdecking. A brawl like this one for example;
The Netdecking is a huge problem here which i hate and which I argued with people who defends netdecking so much time in Hearthpwn before. This is not the place of netdecking discussion tho.
So, These are the reasons why I play brawls repeatedly when they are funny. I thought that this new brawl can be enjoyable because it gives random decks but it ended up like a ranked meta which has ended up with only 2-3 decks in its ladder.
