We've got a handful of Hero Skins coming in a future Hearthstone update which will bring some of our playable pals into the Shadowlands. Check out all of our previews down below.
It should be noted that it appears these will only be obtainable in a bundle together - the Shadowlands Bundle.
Ember Court Illidan
Illidan would be DELIGHTED to attend your party, especially if no one else is.
Winter Fury Malfurion
He will always defend the forests, even if it's ashes to ashes, drust to drust.
Ascended Uther
Some people just don't have much luck in life - or even the afterlife.
House of Rituals Gul'dan
Unwilling to atone for his evil deeds, Gul'dan decided to just commit more of them.

No Male Rogue?
FUCK THIS BUNDLE.
I really love these, since I consider Shadowlands to be a neat and FRESH addition to Warcraft lore. Haters gonna hate but I’m having a blast playing Shadowlands.
A bit of curiosity for those not playing or familiar with actual WoW content. Illidan, Malf and Guld’an are/were never part of the respective SL covenant portrayed in these skins, even though they look cool and make references to SL characters and transmogs. Uther on the other hand is portrayed in his true Bastion ascended dark form present in game (therefore canon) which is cool AF IMO…
I agree about enjoying fresh additions to the lore instead of being too dependent of milking characters and events from the past. I'm currently not playing WoW because I'm not interested in what I consider too grindy and unrewarding of gameplay for my time atm, but I'm still enjoying the story from a distance and will likely return at some point in the future.
I'm fully with you on how cool the Uther is for an actual lore reference, and the others make cool "what if" versions, much like most Hearthstone Skins at this point.
After seeing the fairy tale set, I didn't expect to care about these at all. But now I want them both.
After the Mercenaries announcement I decided that the amount of paid stuff they started tossing around is just way too much and switched from a completionist (gathering each and every piece of cosmetics/card backs/etc.) to a F2P player. The incoming portraits only reaffirm my decision. No more preorders from me either.
The more a game is funded by optional cosmetics, the more generous it can be with the components that actually matter, i.e, cards.
I'm not saying they WILL be more generous, but it gives them the ability to do so.
Considering they seem to be moving to a "free"-ish model, cosmetics are never something for you to "complete" unless you're a whale. I doubt you were spending a ton of money on the game in the first place if your immediate reaction to this is "no more preorders from me either". This may come off as a little harsh, but posts like yours seem to only ever have the premise of "I R ANGRY WIT BLIZARD, I TAKE MUH MONIES AND GO". Instead of looking at the big picture which is this:
You are not entitled to everything released in a game. Especially cosmetics. Buy the cosmetics that tickle your fancy, ignore the ones that don't. This isn't some PlayStation RPG/story game, you're not here to collect 100% of everything and earn a platinum trophy or something. This is a competitive card game.
Collect cards/Mercenaries and improve your tactical decisions from a collection standpoint? Sure, and quite reasonable. Collect every skin, cosmetic, gold/diamond card? No, unless of course if you plan on spending A TON of money. And if someone out there wants to do that, more power to them.
Complaining about not being able to afford/complete all the cosmetics in a game is like complaining that someone else that lives near you has 3 BMW's, while you can only afford a cheap Mazda. That's part of being an adult... is realizing that just cause something IS available, or someone else has something; doesn't mean you are entitled to have it as well.
OP’s note sounded completely fair to me. I’m also sick of all the negative comments people are posting about the game, and I’d have no patience for things like “greedy Blizzard is trying to suck us dry with these cosmetics.” But I have no problem with “this is the point where I decided not to buy every skin.” They weren’t complaining at all, just saying what was right for them.
OP, I hope you enjoy the game with your new approach.
Except that's not what he said. He LITERALLY said:
After the Mercenaries announcement I decided that the amount of paid stuff they started tossing around is just way too much and switched from a completionist (gathering each and every piece of cosmetics/card backs/etc.) to a F2P player.
F2P. Do you know what that means? Free to play. i.e. "I don't spend money".
Then, to top things off, they follow that first statement up with this:
The incoming portraits only reaffirm my decision. No more preorders from me either.
Portraits, PURELY OPTIONAL cosmetic pieces which does not impact his/her/it's ability to play Hearthstone whatsoever and he has the gall to say "no more preorders either" ? It's being completely infantile about something that is not even required to play the game. Like I said in my previous post... He already made him up his mind to not spend money, he was just looking for some excuse to announce it to the world for some odd reason.
At no point did he make the comment or insinuation "this is the point where I decided not to buy every skin". So I'm not sure how you went from "F2P/No more preorders" to "I'm not going to buy every skin", wishful thinking perhaps? I myself pre-order almost every expansion (except for 2 expansions in the past) and occasionally buy skins/cosmetics. I don't consider myself "Free2Play" because I'm a purchasing consumer.
And lastly, he's not the OP (original poster), he's just a commenter like you and me. FluxFlashor is the one who posted the thread/article.
Yes, I read it. I didn’t see any complaints. It’s fine to choose to be a completionist, it’s fine to choose to go F2P, and it’s fine to pick a place between those extremes. The only things that wouldn’t be fine are judging other people for their choice or blaming Blizzard for making those choices available.
I agree that switching from completionist to F2P is extreme, but it’s not unheard of: If you already have a ton of resources in-game, you may suddenly realize that you don’t need to buy more.
I didn’t see them complaining. The key part is probably how you interpret the phrase “the amount of paid stuff they started tossing around is just way too much”. I read that as “way too much [for me]”, and I think you read it as “way too much [morally]”. As long as they were commenting on what they wanted for themselves in the game, there was no complaint.
This thread is probably getting too picky, but given all the undeserved negativity the Hearthstone has been getting from commenters lately, I did want to defend an appropriately nuanced “this isn’t right for me” comment.
(And yes, you’re right that “OP” was the wrong way to refer to them. But you also don’t know if “he” is right.)
Wow, that's some in-depth analysis to my three sentences. Yes, it is a form of a complaint but it is also a feedback to whomever might be interested in it. However, is it infantile to be irritated at some aspects of a game or is it when you are being provoked to write two pages in response?
I have spent a little more than 2000 euro on Hearthstone throughout the years and while not "a ton" it is not insignificant either. And while this does not entitle me of anything of course, as you said, I am at least free to give my feedback.
Anyway, let's not waste any more time on idle chatter.
lol yea, skyomyke did write a lot, but it's not like he was wrong. it's ok if you don't want to buy cosmetics, but IMO the whole world doesn't need to have you announce "I'm going F2P"
These articles are full of comments from people saying whether or not they want to buy the cosmetics. That seems perfectly appropriate for the topic.
I'm still getting them all, desperately awaiting the day we finally get the "random hero portrait" option. I'd like them all in the selection pool. Surely, it'll all have been worth it, right?
Random hero portrait would be really cool, I agree.
Same here - to keep up with all cosmetics is just unbearable. I will still preorder the big bundle and if I will like some cosmetics a lot I might got them but certainly I will spend less, not more.
I will buy these cosmetics since I am still a completionist for traditional Hearthstone, but I am seriously considering changing my current policy and be more selective about what to buy when the next rotation hits. For sure, if they decide to flood us with dozens of cosmetic bundles each year, I will reach my tipping point very soon™.
I must say they really improved paid hero portraits. I'm 100% for this way of them making money
So why doesn't Valeera have a new skin?
because it's a sacred tradition that Rogue doesn't get any skins.
