That video and the Q&A in 11 comments gave me so much more info than the announcement debacle. I do like the idea now that it makes some sense to me. PVE has always been a favorite for me so I'll definitely give it a shot. I won't pay into it without a trial period, though.
Too little too late, perhaps? Those with genuine interest probably found other YouTube videos to watch up to this point, like Trump's, while those who didn't care about Mercenaries won't suddenly care now.

For me , not really, I still have no clue what Mercenaries is about and I'm going to find out now with this video.
edit: ok that clarified a lot, seems cool. Still don't know if I have to buy those pretty expensive packs from the shop though.
You don't have to buy a preorder if you don't want to: everything can be acquired by simply playing the game, and from what we've learned the game's "story" missions and the campfire Tasks can shower you with rewards. That and packs are only 100 gold apiece, like regular Hearthstone.
The preorders are more for getting a jump-start on your collection, or at least to guarantee that you'll have access to Diablo, The Lich King, and/or Sylvanas from the beginning. I definitely wouldn't call them mandatory, despite owning two of them myself.
I'm gonna go with a conservative estimate and suggest that 90% of Hearthstone players don't follow the pre-release announcement cycle very closely or at all. Calling it "too little too late" is pretty silly for a mode they intend to support for years. People will come to Mercenaries in their own time, and this video will be up for them whenever they finally do.
I agree and actually think at this point that Blizzard should stop doing announcements altogether.
Normal ads at the time of release are all they really need. The in-game tutorial is more than sufficient to familiarize players with the rules, and since it's free to play, no one should be afraid to try it out.
I doubt the preorders they got were enough to offset the negativity generated by a poorly executed announcement.
Definitely agree that this video was a little too late. It didn't tell me anything that I hadn't figured out watching their stream (though this video was much more succinct)
I will say though that I have actively avoided watching the videos from Trump, Kripp and Slysssa. For this kind of game I prefer to discover stuff for myself (at least initially). That made this video more useful for someone like me than the Trump, Kripp and Slysssa videos.

Its amazing how this 4 minute video engaged and informed me more than the entirety of that 30 min stream they did about a month ago.

alright, thanks for the advice, going to try it as f2p freeloader :)

You are right. I guess I'm lettin' the negative-nellies get to me, makin' me cynical :/

Still better than never, but yeah, this should have came like a day after the stream.
