New hunter cards seem to be pushing secret hunter. Seems decent if you can run a critical mass off secrets in your deck.
I wonder if there will be a new secret this expansion.
This is some seriously sick tempo even without activating the combo. Reminds me of Flanking Strike, but drawing and playing a secret seems better than getting a 3/3. Drawing and playing two secrets? Now that's crazy good. Now I only hope we'll get one or two great secrets this set to really make it worth it since current secrets are a bit meh (where's my Wandering Monster?)
I'm assuming the eventual Secret Payoff involves triggering a lot of them so this makes sense in conjunction with Bunker. On the flipside, I currently am very worried about having to shove all the available secrets into a deck because most of them aren't that good and I don't think Petting Zoo alone can carry the early game since it hasn't been doing it so far.
If the Hero card turns out to be some sick Secret payoff it could work though, although I wonder what that might be.
Also we're gonna need at least 2 more secrets that do something other than protect face or spawn board because right now they are just way too easy to play around and offer very little protection unless your opponent doesn't have any options.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
If you treat drawing a card as worth 1 mana, drawing two cards as worth 3 mana, and dealing 3 damage as worth about 2 mana, then Spring the Trap is a very solid card. At worst, it's a 1-mana discount on its bundle effects (deal 3, draw a card, and play a secret). At best, though, it's a 5-mana discount (deal 3, draw 2, and play two secrets). That's pretty huge so long as you can find enough secrets you're excited to play.
I like this a lot. It's really solid for a Secret Hunter deck (or might just be useful for any Hunter deck that happens to be running Secrets to thin out the deck). There's a plenitude of minions with 3 Health to target with this, but it's not the end of the world if you "only" get one Secret for free, that's still really good. Standard Quest Hunter I think wants to try this, since it can pull out Explosive Trap and advance the Quest. I think this sees play, even if Secret Hunter doesn't.
I don't want to cure cancer; I want to turn people into dinosaurs.
That is just amazing IMHO. You shoot something for 3 damage, helping Questline Hunter, then thin your deck. If you get the Honorable Kill, you thin your deck twice. Just a really really solid card.
Wow this is really good, even without triggering the honorable kill mechanic. It's Holy Smite plus tutor from your deck, so the cost is fair and with the honorable kill mechanic, it's basically work 6 mana. Lets hope we get 1 more hunter secret which I'm sure we will.
Definitely looking forward to secret hunter so far
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
This makes me hopeful that Hunter is getting new secrets into its arsenal
Also, a Ring Toss equivalent for Hunter is insane
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
More Secret Hunter support! This card is crazy good. the 3 damage point seems really easy to hit, and this will also pull 2 secrets from your deck, thinning it out for better draws.
Arena: Obviously great if you have already drafted some secrets.
Constructed: Already good without the honorable kill and amazing with it. But to be critical, the randomness of Spring the Trap is a small downside. Therefore, you might want to include secrets that are consistently good like Cat Trick instead of more conditionally good secrets like Pressure Plate.
I'm curious to see what the go-to Wild version of Secret Hunter is going to look like. Subject 9, Phase Stalker, Mad Scientist, Spring the Trap, and Dun Baldar Bunker can't all be in the same deck. Inconspicuous Rider and Masked Contender are already on the sidelines, so what cards are joining them? Probably Subject 9 and Mad Scientist.
Arena > Wild > Standard
Without the honorable kill, it's a combination Holy Smite and Inconspicuous Rider, so the cost is reasonable. With it, this is awesome.
2 secrets and get a free Holy Smite alongside it? Seems solid! But the best part about Spring the Trap is that it casts secrets from your deck. This is AMAZING because it thins out your deck, and lets you draw stuff you actually want to draw. It is a bit random with what secrets you get from your deck, but i feel like that's not that bad considering your probably only running good secrets.
The only thing i'm a bit skeptical about is that fact that we haven't seen a secret revealed yet. They really need to give hunter some more secrets, otherwise secret hunter will have a BIG problem next expansion. This is because next expansion will be another hearthstone year, which means all the secret hunter support from the darkmoon set will rotate into wild.
OH and in wild, Secret hunter might be pretty good now. Secret hunter will have a lot of fun next expansion, and i bet Highlander hunters with a secret package will probably include Spring the Trap as well, so they can more reliably draw cards such as zephrys, reno or one of the branns instead of a secret.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
Dun Baldar Bunker is better. Nuff said.
Ironically if this card discovers a copy, or just discover secrets out, it might just be worth it. As it happens, how many secrets are you realistically going to put in your deck? Plus, this cant strike face, and doesn't develop any minions. Yup, bunker is the better card.
This is insane as a secret tutor goes. Not looking forward to secret hunters at all.

Good card overall but insane in combo decks that usually stall early game with secrets. It allows you to do just that and thin your deck a bit so only benefits attached.
Very nice. Running a specific secret package usually works out and being able to put two out at once will make them much more effective. I like the idea of secret hunter being a thing.
Unfortunately, common sense isn't as common as it should be.
Wow, pretty strong card. If you can make the honor kill proc then is a really strong tempo play. And deck thinning is always good in order to get more strong tools on mid-late game
I honestly don't love Secret Hunter as an archetype - I prefer the Beast Hunter fantasy, or trying something ridiculous like Dragon Hunter - but this seems like a strong piece for the deck.
Welcome to the site!
Now THIS is the secret support I've come to expect. Alright without the Honorable Kill, but with it is bonkers.
Hey, you heard about that Mario guy?
I will be running this in Secret Hunter. By default, it is only decent but with HK it is amazing. Great value for 1 single card.
Awesome card, even without the HK effect. Might make it worth playing a couple of traps even in more aggressive decks.
