Now this is really slow really awkward and borderline useless in a variety of circumstances....but I love it anyways. Let's hope it at least indicates some nice Beast support is coming our way.
Maybe it could work with a Vanndar deck. Fill one half with removal, the other with big beats, this guy, Leoroxx and whateever else makes sense.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
Awww, I want this to be good in a deathrattle beast hunter, but it's way too slow!
Chumbawumba is the worst band name.
A Big Beast Hunter with the new Vanndar Stormpike, with a bunch of small spells to stall, could be really fun!
Arena: Don't bother. This is way too situational and expansive to even consider.
Wild: It has the potential to be a better Kathrena Winterwisp, but in Wild that card is too slow to see any play right now. Still, you probably run both in the same deck if your game plan is to cheat out big beasts.
Standard: Probably too slow and situational as well. There are some midrange beast you'd be happy to cheat out, but I'm not seeing any overwhelmingly great synergies.
Arena > Wild > Standard
Nice effect but i guess way to slow ....
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
Wow 9 mana defensive hunter card that encourages trading. Because you really want to trade a lot at 9 mana playing as hunter, the trading control-class.
Oh hey it's Tavish Stormpike 2.0!...
Except even slower and just as bad.
Hey, you heard about that Mario guy?
Really slow, but a extremely powerfull effect. I did hear some people on other forums and stuff say that Wing Commander Ichman makes Beastmaster Leoroxx unplayably bad, but i feel like both complement each other. Leoroxx summons big beasts from hand, and Ichman from your deck. Of course this archetype will need some big beasts in order to work, but i feel like it has a lot of potential. Especially if you also run Vanndar Stormpike.
Either way i'm happy to see that so many classes are getting these late game cards, this might actually make the meta slow down. And worst case scenario, all these card become good after the expansion because some of the sets with lots of key aggro support/card draw will rotate.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
The effect is extremely weak because it relies on too many conditions that can easily go wrong. What if your opponent has no minions? What if his minions are too big to kill? What if you have already drawn your big beasts? What if you're already dead by turn 9?
It is an insultingly bad effect for a 9 mana card that requires a build-around deck.
Its a bizarre 9 mana card when its likely more viable or suitable as an 8 mana card. Kinda reminds me of the Archwitch Willow treatment and that card saw no play on 9 and still sees no play on 8 despite having technically better big demons in standard.
Its best looked at as a support card for big beast hunter, maybe a good card to follow from Guardian Animals of which this card clearly is trying to best. Without the big beast support though, Kathrena Winterwisp this aint. Hell, its not necessarily even better than guardian animals itself. Its sole promise is that Vanndar works on this instead of GA. Good luck on that, because half the time I'd rather just have King Krush and smorc face.
But its a sign for better things to come for a big beast hunter.
So... I guess you play this guy in a secret heavy deck with lots of big beasts? Atm there's not many great beasts in Standard: https://outof.cards/hearthstone/cards/?hsclass=3&hsclass=12&collectible=yes&standard=yes&race=20
Also remember your opponent needs a big board for this legendary to pop off. So if you verse a no minion mage, he's useless.
All in all, this legendary feels like it needs to belong to Druid, coz in Hunter he won't see play.
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
I'm not sure how many beasts this will need to summon in order to be worth 9 mana with 5/4 stats. Of course, you would want to load the deck with big beasts to maximize the chances of killing a minion. Then next turn you go face.
I really really want to like this card. But there are so many things working against it.
1) 9 mana in a class where Aggro is dominating is a REALLY hard sell
2) It is only grabbing Beasts, which means, Darkmoon Tonk is out
3) It's statline is mediocre at best
If they buffed this minion to change any of the 3 areas to be more beneficial and helpful to a non-Aggro Hunter build, this would have potential
It's a fun meme card, but there just aren't any good enough big beasts in Standard right no. No Charged Devilsaur, just King Krush. Feels like a worse Guardian Animals and that was already unplayable in hunter since the nerf.
Very cool, but probably too expensive to be impactful.
Here's the thing: This is a Hunter card, and it costs 9 mana. That means it will never see play. (Remember when Call of the Wild went from 8 to 9 mana and that effectively deleted it from the game?)
I don't want to cure cancer; I want to turn people into dinosaurs.
Am I too naive to think this is a sign Control Hunter will be viable ?
Yes, it is naive of me .. but I can't help
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
There's Savannah Highmane, Mountain Bear (a.k.a. better Savannah Highmane) and Humongous Owl as the best pulls for Wing Commander Ichman. If Hunters had some way to make these cards less bad when drawn, big beast Hunter has a chance. Until then, the deck feels too clunky to be good.
Rating cards on coolness factor rather than predicting power because I like screwing up rating averages (and because I suck at predicting real power levels, but we'll ignore that LUL)
Wins per class (2/6/22): DH-197; Druid-996; Hunter-91«60; Mage-1056; Paladin-1126; Priest-746; Rogue-961; Shaman-1095; Warlock-871; Warrior-906
You should name the deck "Big Beast Beatdown

I didn't get Top Gun reference on this one until they revelead druid "Maverick" legendary. Now I finally see "Iceman".
I guess this is supposed to go in midrange hunter? Standard aggro minions wont have a high enough attack to make multiple triggers happen. Maybe you work it in Big Hunter so that you can pull lots of high impact minions on the same turn. I'm interested to see how it plays out.
Unfortunately, common sense isn't as common as it should be.
It's very slow, but manageable with Vanndar Stormpike. It can be a board clear easily, and having Tundra Rhino can enable some strong otk
I think the problem with this card is that you have to be pretty behind to make full use of its effect - you ideally want to be summoning at least 2-3 Beasts for that cost, and if your opponent has that much of a board you better hope that you don't whiff on any of your pulls.
Welcome to the site!
It is too expensive to see play and the stats are pretty weak IMO. Very reliant on the small package of big beasts run in your deck to make an impact at all if any.
Far too expensive, and goes against what most Hunter decks are designed to do. Don't think this'll see any kind of play, sadly.
Boy we really underestimated this one, didn't we? Who would have thought that something as slow and greedy as this could not only spawn but also carry an entirely new archetype.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
I'm pretty sure it is still a very weak card barely usable in a tier 4 deck. And it certainly does not carry anything.
Not sure if you checked the stats but Big Beast hunter is far from tier 4 competitively and it is by far the best play in the deck. Ichman ends games.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
The stats are misleading because it is a 9 mana card and most games are decided before turn 9. You can only play him if you have already won by surviving. That's why Ichman's winrate is so high.
That#s not just reading raw stats, the VS Data Report says the same. If Ichman was just a "win-more" card the deck wouldn't have a positive winrate.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
It's important to remember that about 40% of the time, the card costs 6-mana, not 9-mana - "you can only play him if you have already won by surviving" isn't true.
According to HSReplays, the card has the highest "win-rate when drawn" in the deck - that's a far more reliable indication of the card's power level than "win-rate when played."
