While the statline is good the deck you'd put this in is genuinely awful. Big Demon Hunter still suffers quite a bit from the fact that most of its draw options are Outcast based and clash with the big boys. It also struggles through not being able to really make any progress before turn 6 (and this 3/8) will barely slow down the many tempo decks that can come up with answers to this.
I'll try it again but as of yet there's not enough glue to hold the deck together (and no, just running this alongside Inquisitor is not consistent enough)
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
Warden of Chains reminds me of Twilight Guardian, in the sense that Warden of Chains is also a big beefy guy that combats early aggression. However, there's one big difference between the two: Twilight Guardian has other dragons to curve into him, while Warden of Chains doesn't, due to the nature of Big DH. That's why that 4 mana 3/6 Taunt was better than this 4 mana 3/8 Taunt. That and the massive powercreep, but that's another issue.
Warden of Chains is a good anti aggro tool for Big DH, I just feel there's something else missing.
Rating cards on coolness factor rather than predicting power because I like screwing up rating averages (and because I suck at predicting real power levels, but we'll ignore that LUL)
Wins per class (2/6/22): DH-197; Druid-996; Hunter-91«60; Mage-1056; Paladin-1126; Priest-746; Rogue-961; Shaman-1095; Warlock-871; Warrior-906
Good statline and good anti-aggro effect, so you would think it would be a good card... However it costs 4 mana, which means you can't really run it alongside Vanndar Stormpike and Proving Grounds. And that hurts Warden of Chains a LOT, considering BIG DH is probably the best deck to slot it into. And if you dont get the battlecry, its just a Stegodon without a tribe. But still it does have a lot of potential, and who knows what kind of support it will get.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
It's a lot of stats, but it clashes with the two main ways we actually want to play Big Demons right now, Vanndar Stormpike and Proving Grounds. I don't see it being good enough by itself to replace those.
Warden of Chains is a Stegodon that sometimes buffs up to a Lakkari Felhound. Honestly a 3/8 taunt for 4 is pretty strong, but Demon Hunter has a lot of competition for 4-drops that would probably be more relevant in a Big Demon deck (e.g. Vanndar Stormpike and Raging Felscreamer).
Arena: Battlecry will hit sometimes, but even when it does Warden of Chains is still not amazing. However, when the battlecry whiffs she isn't unplayable either, so certainly draftable.
Constructed: Too weak and obstructs Vanndar Stormpike's battlecry, so won't see play. Just maybe in a Midrange deck with not a lot of 5+ mana minions, but enough for Warden of Chains' battlecry to be consistent.
Arena > Wild > Standard
Im actually waiting to see if dhunter gets more early game cards that can decently curve into this so we can have a midrange dhunter deck of which this card may be the perfect 4 drop in.
Its obviously not designed to be placed into big dhunter. Team5 have subtlely set its cost to 4 to interfere with the obvious Vanndar synergy and its fairly obvious that getting this out from Proving Grounds will prove disastrous that no one will do it.
We'll have to see from further reveals. But for me, this is midrange stuff, not big demons.
Big DH support. Kinda weird that that deck will want to run Vanndar Stormpike, but this needs to be played before any 5/6/7 drops or else those won't trigger it. That said, even if it doesn't trigger, it's still a base stat Taunt like Stegodon
At first i thought it could be decent in aggro-Token but then i saw that the effect only goes off if the demon costs 5 or more ...
so , pretty meh card ... could give early protection against aggro if you play Big Demon Hunter tough ! so i would change my "meh" to "ok card" :)
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
4 for a 3/8 taunt at most... meh
Could be an OK defensive Taunt for slower Big Demon decks, but DH already has a number of purely defensive Taunt minions, and none of them see play so I hardly think this one can make Big Demon Hunter a thing (especially since it interferes with Vanndar Stormpike, which is substantially stronger in that kind of deck).
I don't want to cure cancer; I want to turn people into dinosaurs.
Might be decent in big demon DH. 3/8 taunt for 4 seems pretty good.
Well this will be an auto-include in big Demon DH, that's for sure. 3/8 taunt is pretty good stall at 4 mana and demands hard removal or it'll take a few minions to get through. With all the draw DH has, it's fairly consistent that you'll get a big demon in your hand to activate the effect.
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
I want to believe that more Big Demons are coming our way - I'm a believer .. and a demon lover
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
It’s ok but kind of weak in wild.
I think it will be ok in Big DH, but not spectacular. You just put him into stop early aggression, but it doesn't even do that too well. But you will still run it probably.

It really speaks to the level of powercreep when a 4 mana 3/8 taunt (situational) is considered bad. Oh how far we've fallen.

If Big DH will ever pop, this will be the cherry on the top of it but so far, even with quite a lot of support for slower decks, I am not seeing this as meta-defining card.
I really like the fact that this isn't a demon. It helps to provide some early control support for the big demon set up, without polluting the cards that interact with the demons. I think I may actually try to play and level up my Demon Hunter this expansion.
Unfortunately, common sense isn't as common as it should be.
Can stop aggro, but by itself it doesn't have a good statline
Solid play on 5 if you didn't get the new Sigil in hand in time.
Hey, you heard about that Mario guy?
It's good in the deck that it's intended for, but unfortunately that deck is not a good deck.
Welcome to the site!
Big Demon Hunter support for filling up till 30 cards. Nice and probably intentional not to give this card the Demon tag as well.
It doesn't seem amazing, specially since most Demon Hunter cards seem to be going in the opposite direction of what this card represents. Still, I hope to be proven wrong!
