New Cards Revealed
Anything with Whelp in the name should count according to Cora and MyntyPhresh.
Quote From Cora I can confirm that Whelps are Whelps, even if they're Mechanical. Raid Boss Onyxia recognizes all Whelps equally.
Quote From MyntyPhresh Oh and I can confirm:
Onyxia gets Immune from ANYTHING that A) is called a Whelp, and B) looks like a WhelpSo that does include her old Whelps!

"Raid Boss"? What a terrible name
WoW fanboys will be happy with the naming.
Whelp, guess this is the finisher for Dragon decks
I can see it working in BIG/Duel Paladin in Wild, since you ramp to 10 mana on turn 4 with Nozdormu, drop this on 5, clears any aggro board (pesky pirates) and is left with an immune 8/8...
The card is fine. Strong, reliable at what it does. Unfortunately, only druids will play it.
The problem is the mana cost, and the fact that it doesn't just win the game for you. Basically its currently a weaker card in comparison with Alexstrasza the Life-Binder because new alex can hit face for 8 unconditionally, while this Raid Boss Onyxia only threatens to do the same. Forget the whelp gained immunity, that's only relevant in the first turn, because no one would save up a whelp in hand just to combo up with this card. Hell, it'll never truly survive a turn, because if it did, youre probably winning, whelp or no.
That said, ramp druid would not just love this card, its likely a near mandatory requirement. It not only removes most boards on its own, its cost is negligible in something like ramp druid. Not to mention that they can discover it via Resizing Pouch.
I don't think the comparison to Alex is fair. This card is designed to clear boards of up to 20 Health while still leaving an 8/8 and possibly some 2/1s.
To be fair, I don't think this card will be good, basically because it costs 10 Mana, but I'd say it functions in a pretty unique way (especially the fact that if you want to clear the 8/8, you must also kill the 2/1s that might remain), so I guess we'll have to see.
You don't think Dragon Priest will use it? I'm pretty sure Dragon Priest will use it.
Perhaps, maybe in a big dragon deck. And assuming that the meta switches to something close to barrens meta.
Its just that 10 mana is quite a lot. There's not many reasons why someone would put this over new alex or even ysera to be honest.
Cool flavor, okay effect.
Cool concept, first card that has/gives passive immunity since Mal'ganis from 2014.
Onyxia herself is immune, not your hero. So it's like the DH cards.
I was talking about any immunity not just hero. But I was wrong cuz I forgot Violet Illusionist
Been thinking long and hard of the nostalgic feeling this miniset evokes. Felt so familiar. Then I realised: oh yeah, this smells exactly like TGT and Rastakhan. And gonna have about as much impact. This card would have been killer maybe two years ago. Not in the game we have today.
I think you have a miss count on the cards remaining... all 35 have been revealed? (3 for each class + 5 neurals)
This expansion is very 'meta' when it comes to naming cards, really love the flavor.
Are you sure about that one? Because I count 10x3 class cards + 5 neutrals so far.
We had a typo in a previous post that got carried forward throughout. I actually just went through and corrected it
Funny thing that, I was wondering what they were gonna call her seeing how regular Onyxia and Broodmother are already taken. Raid Boss was the first thing that popped into my mind, but I assumed they surely weren't going for something that obvious. Guess I was wrong
