We braved the trials of the Barrens, survived the schemes of Stormwind, and ascended to the peaks of Alterac!
Things are coming to a close for the Year of the Gryphon and Blizzard is celebrating exactly that because this month's ranked card back reward depicts Gryphons! You can add the "Year of the Gryphon" card back to your collection this month by winning 5 ranked constructed games.
As always, if you want to look at Hearthstone card backs, we've got an entire gallery dedicated to just that!

Would be nice if we had some challenges (and rewards) to guess what theme next year gonna be.
Because I would've picked Year of Serpent. Close with dragon synergies and Pandaria.
But important events such as Roadmaps, Expansion Teaser, Core set 2022 & Card Reveal season announcements should also be in this month, yeah?
Is it because there's no fixed date that they're not included in this article?
On another note. if it's gonna be less than one month (FitB released on 30th March), won't it be too late to have the next patch? We still missing 2 achievements from miniset, and I can't imagine the time span left to do those when the actual patch arrives. (Minus 7 days like usual when the new reward track arrived).
I'm so ready for Druid to lose everything it cares about. I hope Guff turns out to be the only ramp tool they have for the entire coming year.
Hold up, Onyxia’s Lair leaves the shop on April 4? That’s so soon. Aren’t they usually in the shop until a few weeks before the next Mini-Set launches? But this time it seems like it’s exiting the shop before even the next Expansion comes out.
Blizzard does change these dates sometimes, think they did that for the Wailing Caverns mini-set when Mercs was released which delayed the release date of the Deadmines mini-set. But to be fair, we do have 58 days to buy the Onyxia lair mini-set, so it's not too bad.
Also hope this means the next expansion is launched on the 5th
Mini-sets usually leaves the store on the brink of a new expansion. April 4 is a Monday, so I guess we could expect the next expansion (Pandaria??) April 5 or maybe 12.
They usually leave on the brink of the next mini set, not expansion. For example:
Wailing caverns released on June 3rd, and left on October 19th. Stormwind launched in August.
Deadmines released on November 2nd, and left on January 25th. Alterac launched in December.
I still think that it's way more likely that all that pandaria stuff was simply added as a theme for this years lunar new year event, instead of being teasers for the next expansion. Mainly for 3 reasons:
1. they have never teased Expansions with skins in advance (remember Lunara which was announced before the Witchwood expansion?)
2. Why would they tease a expansion over 2 months in advance?
3. Most importantly: Why else release all of that pandaria stuff now, instead of saving it to release it during the expansion, or at the very least for after the expansion announcement.
Agree, Lunar New Year always brings Pandaria content. Also, Blizz simply isn't teasing or hyping much of anything these days, and they are not subtle about it when they do.
I think the mini-set usually goes away right before when the next expansion comes out, which means that we should expect that the next Standard rotation will happen soon™ after April 4th.
Nah, mini sets usually leave a few weeks before the next mini set, not the next expansion. For example, Wailing Caverns was in the shop for 20 weeks before leaving on October 19th, 2 weeks before Deadmines. Deadmines was in the shop for 12 weeks before leaving on January 25th, 3 weeks before Onyxia’s Lair.
This time Onyxia’s Lair will leave the shop after only 7 weeks, compared to the 12 and 20 week availability periods of the other 2 mini sets.
Besides if mini sets went away right before the next expansion, Deadmines would’ve been available for only 4 weeks lol.
I see, that means there is no clear pattern visible and thus we cannot make reliable predictions about future release dates.
