Gallon has confirmed on Twitter that Unstable Evolution will be changed to feature the Echo keyword instead of "Repeatable this turn" when Voyage to the Sunken City goes live.
This is particularly important due to its interaction with Radiance of Azshara. In its current form, Radiance of Azshara would allow Unstable Evolution to cost 0 allowing it to be infinitely played (as Unstable Evolution doesn't actually use Echo and therefore doesn't abide to the rule that Echo cards can't cost less than 1). This was previously possible if you ended up getting a few specific cards from another class in your hand, but as the two cards are both Shaman cards, you could put them both in the same deck, making the interaction consistent.
It was also confirmed that as a result of this, players could disenchant the card for its full dust value for a period of time (no specific end date was specified).
Quote From Gallon When Voyage to the Sunken City goes live, Unstable Evolution will have its functionality changed from a “Repeatable this Turn” card to an “Echo” card. The wording will update in a follow-up patch. While they function mostly the same, we apologize for it being unclearly worded for a short period of time. We also understand that the fun part of this card is to randomly generate a Radiant Elemental and have a crazy turn, so even though this now will work with Mistwraith it’s still effectively a nerf to the fun, so there will be full refunds on Unstable.

I would've prefered if they had changed 'Repeteable this turn' to work like Echo.
Besides Witch's Brew, there are a ton of Recruit-like and Inspire-like effects outside their respective expansion, but I doubt they'll be changed to use the actual keyword.
I don't know, doing this for just one keyword feels very wrong to me xD
I am honestly shocked that they are being proactive about this.
I'm going to lose my mind if they just leave Witch's Brew now. I understand that that's not a problem card, but the inconsistency is going to kill me.
I will never get over how they print Witch's Brew, a callback card to Wtichwood specifically and don't give it Echo because "nuh-uh, that's expansion specific keyword" only to print Snip-Snap in the very next expansion with fucking Echo. Unironically comical.
I think you're being unfair. SNIP-SNAP is a Boomsday Project card that was printed in a special event during Rise of Shadows. It was okay to have Echo because it rotated to Wild alongside the other Echo cards, which would have left Witch's Brew as the only card in all of Standard to use that keyword. I fully understand Blizzard's reasoning.
However, now that they're all Wild and they're going against that logic, there's no harm in fixing it for consistency.
Ah I messed up the order of expansions there, I don't know why that happened.
The other reason using Echo is compelling for SN1P-SN4P is that it's not a spell. "Repeatable this turn" is clear and succinct for a spell, but meaningless for a minion. To make it really consistent with other cards without Echo, they'd have to change "Echo" to something like "Battlecry: Add a 2/3 SN1P-SN4P to your hand. Discard it at the end of your turn." It's just way too much text.
Ah yes, Echo, the famous expansion-exclusive keyword.
I won quite a few Solo-Adventure Runs thanks to 0-mana Unstable Evolution generating me a massive board. R.I.P. wacky evolution shenanigans, you will be missed ;-;
I knew this was coming
That was unusually fast if Im honest. Id had thought they allow this mess to come out before eventually patching it out.
Credits where credits due. Well done
Great change. The problem was when it cost 0. Otherwise it's a very interesting card.
Why didn't they make it so the new card can't get the cost of spells below 1 instead ? this solves the problem without killing the other card
Text space.
Radiance of Azshara's textbox is already quite full. There's almost no space to add anything else, so there definitely isn't enough space to add a clause that it can't reduce the Cost of cards below 1.
better idea , remove the nature tag from Unstable Evolution
but then this buff doesn't work on Lightning bolt which is like, the central Shaman burst spell right now
Thank yogg they actually fixed this problem before the expansion launched instead of just ignoring this for like a month like they usually do. Great to see them addres this!
