I like packs. But since this expansion has been cut short for whatever reason you'd think they be using this event to either give us more gold or at least more packs of the next expansion.
Guess I'll keep dreaming then.
Uh my guy wdym cut short? Expansion release is always April/August/December and has been since the game started, with the exception of the first two sets in Year 1
The timeline between expansions is roughly 4 months. Sunken city started on 12th April, this expansion will start 26th July.
Barrens started on 30th Mar, stormwind started 3rd Aug
In other words, we're starting the party about 2 weeks early. May not matter much to some, but to others its potentially about 1000+ gold. That's 10 packs minimum we will be able to afford at the start of the expansion.
Edit: turns out that the expansion is coming out on 2nd Aug. Oh well, guess I made an error.
Oh my fucking god they actually added another mage hero. Are you kidding me.
and a skin for most of the other classes. It really isn't that dramatic.
No, there's a full-on alt mage skin. It's Kael'thas.
I actually want to write an article about the Mage hero situation badly because their internal ids hit a new milestone with Kael - they ran out of letters for Mages so he is "AA".
Great job, Blizzard!
I'm always surprised people don't downvote me when I complain about cosmetic inequity, so I'm sure there's enough interest in the topic to warrant an article.
The focus is usually on new characters (hence why Kael'thas gets more attention than the other skins added this patch), but there's something to be said for the numbers of re-skins too. Somehow rogue still manages to have the fewest skins, despite having more unique characters than DH, priest and hunter now :P I'm complaining there (it helps out my rogue-biased wallet), it's just a curious observation.
Since this article mentions hero portraits, here's a decent place to say this: they finally added artist credits for the portraits! It was always so weird that wasn't said when we had it for cards.
No such info for mercs portraits, though they did add 4th skins for Tyrande, Millhouse and Xyrella for some reason. (They are just using skins that already existed outside Mercs, so probably just reasoned 'why not?')
Weird how they didn't use Year pack anymore. But I guess it's a win, because those type of packs doesn't have pity timer on them.
A merc pack is nice, but I was hoping that the event would include a Finley merc. It's crazy that non of the expansion protagonists are in mercs, meawhile all 3 of the other explorers are there. Just, why?
