Do you really think that greedy Blizzard have shut down chinese servers altogether? They'll just sign a new contract soon and will continue to loot money.

If they were going to able to negotiate a new contract anytime soon, they would already have done it.

In that case, it would have been an announcement of migration to a new service, not an announcement of shutting down all of the servers.

PR isn't stupid - announcing a migration to a new service provider goes over IMMEASURABLY better than an announcement of the cancellation of all services. If they could have done that, they would have. But they can't, so they didn't.

Pretty sure this is a case of the current regime in China being ... itself. They are consolidating all the power they can manage, and severing as many ties as possible to Western influences. They are even cracking down hard on VPNs.

But they didn't decide to leave NetEase themselves. Blizzard announced that it is looking for a new publisher. They also asked NetEase to extend the contract for six months so that there would be time to find a new publisher, but NetEase refused, and Blizzard had to turn off the servers. Yes, it was possible to immediately announce the migration of servers, but what if suddenly nothing really happens with the conclusion of a contract with new publisher because of the situation in the world and in China itself.

Those freaking rich and corporations are fighting among themselves, and ordinary players are suffering.

to those of you who haven't read why NetEase refuse "extensions" with Blizzard.

My personal opinion is, Blizzard ain't stupid, just greedy. They obviously still want all income from Chinese based players, especially because they've just release Diablo Immortal, which is probably their main cash cow. IDK about why they still haven't got a partner yet, but it's their own fault for being greedy.

I'm gonna repost what I said at the time:

You know what's really offensive?  The fact that women are apparently not allowed to wear anything "revealing" in modern society anymore.  The only statement I'm getting from these changes is that women should watch what they wear, lest they arouse or corrupt random men.  Meanwhile, men can wear whatever the fuck they like

Except, Queen of Pain and Secretkeeper are wearing LESS CLOTHING now. Windfury Harpy is wearing a little bit more, but she's still basically naked. It's certainly not the winged aerobics teachers you see in western Yu-Gi-Oh.

I really doubt censorship or China had anything to do with these changes. If they did, they would've just region locked it they did for The Skeleton Knight, Abomination, and a bunch of other cards. They did this because Hearthstone's art has evolved. They don't want to depict blood and violent deaths anymore. They don't want women in stupid-looking poses. They probably don't want succubi because of the connotations. The game is very cartoony now, and they want to stay consistent with that theme.

    Hmm. Turns out he's dead.
