Card Nerf - Sludge Slurper

Submitted 5 years ago by

Sludge Slurper is having its attack decreased to 1, from 2, in the December 19 Patch.

How do you feel about this change?

Once these changes are live, players will be able to disenchant the adjusted cards for their full Arcane Dust value for two weeks.

This one feels really undeserved. An indirect nerf to quest & Galakrond shaman I guess, but it does affect other archetypes like miracle, token and murloc shaman, none of which are oppressive. I don't really see how Sludge Slurper itself is OP so I don't like this nerf at all.

I understand that this was probably one of the strongest one-drops in standard, but I'm not sure it needed a nerf. Perhaps they expect aggro shaman's numbers to increase now that players might shy away from Galakrond?

I'm sad, I played it in Roffle's wild burn shaman and it was a great followup to the Tunnel Trogg when I didn't draw the Totem Golem. The deck fought toe-to-toe with Wild Pirate warrior (kinda bad matchup, very draw dependent), now it's gonna trade worse with Parachute Brigand :/ But I guess it was doing too many things for a one-drop - murloc synergy, overload synergy, lackeys.

Well this is one of the strongest shaman card but I never felt that this card was annoying to play against.. it had a fair price..

will still see play in any deck it was played in probably, but it nerfs shaman all around which was the purpose...

A healthy nerf but very unexpected from my side. It was an autoinclude in every shaman deck as well as mogu, so nerfing them will make shaman generally weaker.

Like so many said, a fine nerf, but unexpected. I don't remember 1hp making a difference while being slaughtered by Galakrond, but ok.

Well I think this is a major nerf. A 1-1 you can ignore and just develop a minion which will almost always trade fine. A 2-1 is more problematic since most early minions for my mage have 2 health (say an apprentice) so HP was always the better option.

I have the feeling that this card do not need that. I mean if the problem is that it easily complete the quest, may take the quest 1 minion up to compensate.

On the other side, yes is a strong 1 mana minion, but not broken.

Poor murloc guy... this nerf was completely unnecessary.

This is a much bigger hit to Shaman than it first appears. Is it worth running this card now on turn 1 where you only get a 1/1 and overload? I am skeptical.

The 2 attack meant you could trade into many potentially concerning 1 or 2 drops you opponent had. Now, they can laugh at your crappy one drop.

If Galakron Shaman is still tier 1 I predict quite a few changes coming to that deck. The early game will need some replacement cards.
