Just how bad is Galakrond Priest? Or the autocomplete is broken.

I had the " Play three games as..." quest and one of them was priest. I hadn't played much Galakrond Priest since goofing around in week one of the expansion, so I thought I would pop over to casual and goof around with it. I am not a good deck builderso most of the time in these situations I pick the key cards I want to play with and let the game complete the deck. I grabbed Galakrond, hit autocomplete, and headed into casual to goof around with randomly generated priest minions from the invoke effect.

I was slightly confused when my opening hand had the quest in it. I opened it back in the day but have never played it because I don't much care for the style. I don't have a full collection but do have all the commons and rares from each set so I thought maybe there was some odd combination of cards I owned that did something interesting. I drew Galakrond pretty quick but was frustrated by not drawing any invoke cards. I figured it was just my luck to have all the fun aspects of the deck at the bottom. The more cards I drew, the more it looked like some odd version of quest ressurect priest. I don't own [Hearthstone Card (Catarina Muerte) Not Found] but almost everything else from that deck surfaced. Since I thought I was playing to get to Galakrond (it even put two Hench-Clan Thug in the deck), I didn't play well and lost.  I decided to go back and look at the cards in my deck and discovered that there were zero invoke cards in it. That's right, it put in Kronx Dragonhoof and the thugs, but didn't give me anything else to use with it, much less upgrade to get the 5/2 claw so the thugs could get buffed. I just don't know what to think or if I can trust the autocomplete function again.

Edit: I would have to create the deck on the site to post it in the thread. It was pretty bad and I dont want anyone else thinking I really came up with it so I'll just leave it out.

    Not sure what's up with the Hench Clan Thugs but it seems to me that the autocomplete wants to build resurrect quest priest (which is a legit deck btw) by hook or by crook. You could try forcing the AI's choice by adding more invoke cards and Kronx before hitting autocomplete, I'm curious what would change.

    Is it possible to play an autocomplete deck without first having seen what the AI build for you. Will the autocomplete feature use only what you have and not recommend cards to craft? This is not a troll question, I genuinely wanted to know, having never used that feature myself.

    Sorry, I have a bit of difficulty understanding your question, but I will try my best to answer.

    The AI will only use cards in your collection, and yes, you can see it before heading out.

    It will not recommend you to craft cards, it just tries its best to stitch something together from your collection. It focuses mainly on tempo and tries to make the deck have a decent curve using “good” cards, like maybe Big ol’ Whelp for a 5 drop and card draw, but not having any dragon synergy.

    This ain't no place for a hero

    When the autocomplete function is used, the deck populates on the screen. In my case, I didn't pay attention to it because I presumed a certain set of cards would be included. Couple that with the fact that I wasn't planning to play the deck competitively means I just didn't look at it before heading into play mode.

    As the other reply said, it will only use cards in your deck to complete. If you want decent suggestions on what decks you can almost make with your collection, I reccomend using hsreplay.net. Download their decktracker to get your collection in their system. Then you can sort decks by win rate, select the option of only showing decks you can create, and then put a dust cost in the filter for how much you might be willing or able to spend. That will let you get a good idea of what is in reach for you.

    To get the discussion back to your thread title(s) ;

    Priest never really been a ''minion'' class, and when it been decklists centered on minions, there was whether very few of them in a list - and not necessarily class exclusive ones either - or they were really situational. Having a Galankrond's effect that randomly generates class restricted minions from a pool of minion that doesn't see much play - unless said deck is built around their effects - is pretty underwhelming on its own ; it can be good, sometimes, but most of the time just some random stuff to populate your board.

    And as for the deck builder, the AI is smart, to some extend ; it will cook up what - on paper - has the highest winrate recorded across their inner data collection system, from what's available to your collection. In that fashion, ''Smart deck builder AI'' will candidly add Hench-Clan Thug to your list, as it is fair to assume it holds a victorious track record when used, drawn and played, but not necessarily in your Priest built. You wanted a Galakrond's list, but the AI went with, regardless of the only card you added in, here's the best I can do for priest, in the current recorded meta, with the collection you have.

    So, in conclusion - addressing both side of the title - basically, smart AI was just trying to steer you away from Galakrond Priest to help you win some games ^^

    TL:DR: Galakrond priest is weak, AI is Smart

    I knew it wasn't good going in to the deck. My real motivation in creating the deck this way was being too lazy to search for Galakrond, add those cards, and then autocomplete. I guess I just underestimated how not good it was. When the best deck with Galakrond is actually a bad version of a non Galakrond deck with him thrown in, that says a lot.
