There's been a few times the Hearthstone team has talked about their doughnut problems in the office, but we didn't think they'd leak out to all of us, again. First, some history.

There is a rule on the Hearthstone team that says one must bring in doughnuts to the office for the whole team if they mention the word doughnut. As Conor Kou puts it, it has "been a long standing Team 5 tradition".

Well you see… on the Hearthstone team we have a rule that if you say the word “doughnut” you have to bring them in for the whole team. Its been a long standing Team 5 tradition.

During one of our first playtests, one of our artists may or may not have been trying to bait out some doughnuts Face with tears of joy. And then we just decided to keep it.

Our big encounter with doughnuts in the Hearthstone game is through Battlegrounds. When you lose, you get this beautiful, glazed "reward" atop your portrait. As Conor says, someone may have been trying to bait some free snacks from co-workers.

Well, they've done it again. We have more doughnuts in Hearthstone, though these ones are special, private doughnuts. It looks like the Hearthstone team has some testing assets in their normal development builds that exist to provoke the mention of doughnuts. We've got a set icon, a banner, and the word temp stamped onto an image.

Maybe this was an intentional "leak" and these assets aren't normally used; They know we'd find it and spotlight it in hopes that someone would soon be bringing doughnuts to the office. Whatever the reason, we're happy to see this in the wild.
