A really nice taunt for priest. Can be very good against aggro, and is acceptable at worst against slower decks where this might steal a useful deathrattle minion.
Getting the spellburst to activate consistently against aggro could be a fiddle, but is very achievable and probably worth it.
This post is discussing the wild format.
Surprsingly, this card barely powercreeps Cabal Shadow Priest- while it has full stats for a taunt, but it's effect is random, and it is part of a two-card combo, it is only a bit better than a classic card, so I doubt it will see play.
Most 2-attack minions are not worth stealing, and getting a random one is even worse. Sure, you could keep it alive for some time and don't play any spells, thus preventing your opponent from playing any valuable small minions, but how probable is that?
Can be swingy on turn four with the coin or even powerword shield?
The fact that it is a 2/6 taunt for 4 mana is pretty good alone. The steal effect is probably going to steal something most of the time vs aggro, if you can activate it on the turn you play it, very much doubt it will survive a turn. With how Shadow Madness and Potion of Madness work, the stolen minion with this gains Charge, so when you do steal something, you will basically remove two minions/tokens from an aggro deck, and place down the taunt, pretty swingy turn vs aggro imo.

Shadow Madness still better than this card. The 2/6 taunt stick is just not good enough for this to vault over the shadow madness, unfortunately
Its true potential lies in the effect still being there after ressurection, but even still I wouldn't consider this card in a standard galakrond priest deck.
Nice one against those pesky aggro decks. Even just as a 4 drop to slow down the beating you are taking. But if can utilize the spellburst too - even better :).

EU Legend: S52 (ZooHeal Lock); S76 (Highlander Hunter);
Good stats, it had taunt, and priests have a LOT of cheap spells like Power Word: Shield. Just a amazing card for control priest decks.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
Torn about this.
On one hand it's yet another really obnoxious Priest minion that will most likely see play in defensive decks (just combo it on turn 5 with Renew or something)
Problem is of course the randomness and how easy it is to play around (unless Priests start running attack manipulation....Lazul's Scheme could be fantastic with this)
At the end of the day it's an alright minion which at least improves galakrond's hero power
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
Pretty good, but I shouldn’t overestimate this spellburst. Some targets are really good, some doesn’t make any real difference. Probably a bit inconsistent with the random steal. Good target for ressurect effects thoug.
God Stats for 4 Mana with Taunt, nice ability - i like it!
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
Seems not too great. It’s a cheaper Shadow Priest, that also requires you to spend mana to activate it (meaning it costs basically as much, if not more than, Shadow Priest, while not even being targeted).
While the added redundancy is nice, that doesn’t matter too much when you’re adding redundancy of a card that isn’t that great anymore to begin with
Who needs consistency when you could have fun?
not so impressed
I am 69 years old and still reach Legend
Solid 4 mana taunt with a random version of Cabal Shadow Priest's effect that you can trigger immediately if you have spare mana, or trigger later if your taunt survives. I expect to see a lot of this in Control Priest, if not now then certainly after Convincing Infiltrator rotates.
Looks quite strong, nice body, fine effect, taunt is always a plus. Yeah seems solid I'd run it if I played priest.
Self proclaimed good at battlegrounds
If you want to steal a minion with 2 or less attack, then Cabal Shadow Priest is more reliable. And the 2 mana difference doesn't matter a whole lot since with Cabal Acolyte you also have to spend a spell.
If you want a 2/6 taunt that gets rid of a random enemy minion, then Convincing Infiltrator is better since it can get rid of bigger things. And the 1 mana difference doesn't matter a whole lot since with Cabal Acolyte you also have to spend a spell.
I just don't see why you would play this card over any of the other cards that do similar things.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
Does someone know if the effect from the spellburst takes effect before the spell's effect? For example I play Holy Nova and they have a board with 2/2s, do I get a 2/2 before they are wiped?
Not really having super strong feelings about this card either way. Obviously it's a retooling of C[Hearthstone Card (abal Shadow Priest) Not Found], but I have no clue it it will end up as a powercreep, lesser version, or effectively the same thing.

2/6 minions have a proven track record of being sturdy. Combined with this effect that weakens aggro, Priest decks may auto-include this. The fact that it's random isn't too much of a downside, since gaining an additional minion is hardly ever a bad thing. I can already see some misplays where people forget that this isn't a Battlecry :P
Started playing HS in May, 2015. The bad news: I missed the excitement of 'Naxx out?' and GvG. The good news: I never met an Undertaker.
I like how you can play it on an empty board and your opponent can't play minions with 2 or less attack.
Anyways, not much better than shadow priest.
So, tempo Priest can be a thing now. The deck already has access to Silence (ok-ish card for tempo), Lazul's Scheme (nice reach), Circle of Healing (a staple in old versions of the deck, though that card was the most oppressive combined with Northshire Cleric), Power Word: Shield (making this guy a 2/8) and Whispers of EVIL (a generally decent to good card for a tempo based Priest deck). All of these allow for the card to be activated immediately.
Yes, Shadow Madness is amazing in control, but this card is much more proactive when fighting for the board, making it very scary when the Priest player is actually proactive. And Tempo Priest is one of those decks that is a couple of cards away right now from really popping off.
Rating cards on coolness factor rather than predicting power because I like screwing up rating averages (and because I suck at predicting real power levels, but we'll ignore that LUL)
Wins per class (2/6/22): DH-197; Druid-996; Hunter-91«60; Mage-1056; Paladin-1126; Priest-746; Rogue-961; Shaman-1095; Warlock-871; Warrior-906
Remember the Cabal? Here they are again.
I'd like to say that it seems better than Cabal Shadow Priest, although the randomness and spell requirement leaves me unsure. And CSP stopped seeing play a while ago.
This minion has a sturdy health line with a powerful control utility that will see play in wall priests.
the 2/6 stat line is shared with Convincing Infiltrator, and while it lacks the formers deathrattle controlling a random enemy minion and giving it charge makes it fantastic against aggro match ups. also unlike Convincing Infiltrator, since spellburst is a once a turn effect, you could use this to make your opponent hold off on dropping minions since this taunt could steal a prime target.
Most will see this as a tool against aggressive decks, but zoo relies on hand buffing that places their minions outside of this unit's control range, DH floods the board too well to be hindered by this, and Hunters midrange package means that they'll play minions that are outside of range.
That said, there's a lot of combo and control minions with low attack power that this unit can control, such as the Demon Hunter/Hunter legendary that has 2 attack and nice effects that benefits minion trading
As someone who plays a lot of Thief Priest, I honestly don't see this card being too good. The requirement of a cheap spell and the inability to choose the minion leaves it outshined by Cabal Shadow Priest. I will gladly be proven wrong, but it doesn't seem that good compared to other options in the class.
Solid, more annoying than anything. God I hate Priest...
The stat are ok and the effect is cool. Maybe can find a spot in a Tempo Priest on turn 4 (to protect your board and generate extra value from the next spell)
This looks insane. Now, Spellburst isn't Battlecry, so when you rez this, you can still steal something.

Not a fan either. Kind of feel a little too win-more and/or situational to be really useful. Still prefer Shadow Madness over this one
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
Wait, this card doesn't get Charge immediately after you "gain" control? The fuck? They showed that it did in the clip but apparently it doesn't work like that???
https://twitter.com/GW_Alec/status/1286318410075316225
Card also says "gain" control like in Shadow Madness and not "take" control like in Cabal Shadow Priest or Mind Control. So "gain" should get Charge imo. I would like to nominate this card for the Consistently Inconsistent category for the Bingo, please.
Take my words with a grain of salt. I'm unranked and only play casuals lmao.
Strong statline, but I think the spellburst will be hard to activate in an elegant way in a way with which you will get the minion you want.
Aggro breaker, you can even steal vargoth and he will repeat the spell you cast right, for the meme.
I don't see why you would run Cabal Acolyte over Cabal Shadow Priest. While Cabal Shadow Priest is 2 more mana and doesn't have taunt, the effect is targeted and doesn't require another card to trigger. I think if you consider running either card you care most about the effect, and Cabal Shadow Priest is more resource efficient and more consistent in what it steals.
For glory, honor, and gold!
Those are some good Stats for a 4 Mana Taunt. It should be healthy enough to survive 1 or 2 Turns, so you can take Advantage of the Spell Burst.
And with the new Spell or Lazul's Scheme you could easily snatch a big Minion.

Great card idea.
Thanks to denial, I'm immortal.
I'm hating priest one card at a time
Cheap Shadow Priest. Pretty good
Lemushki - The one and only since the 2006 rebranding.
Kind of situational, but very nice against aggro.
Solid body that you will see Created By Galakrond's Wit alot.
Has decent stats.. also a 6 cost card effect but it's random and requires the spellburst.. can be good if you see a lot of aggro or on a deck you run cards that lower attack.. maybe with both this and [Hearthstone Card (cabal shadowpriest) Not Found] you can afford to play much more "lower your opponent's attack" cards.
He might be pulling the strings on a random enemy minion but we are the ones pulling his strings.
Need to play it
-=alfi=-
More of an anti aggro card than a value card. Drop this turn 4 and then steal a minion from your opponent and trade it into another next turn. Or just combo it directly on turn 5.
Works really well with the Scheme and helps slow down aggro decks.
It's a decent card. Don't know if Priest has room for it in their current deck though.
Lazul's Scheme and Wave of Apathy have a Direct synergy with that.
And don't forget Scarlet Subjugator.
Priest have tons of cheap usefull spells and can get value from this card. 3.5/5 for me.
By The Holy Light!
Good cost and stats for the effect, this could be a legendary and i wouldn't question it
All hail the banshee queen.
I like that this card allows for skillful plays to gain control of enemy minions, but I don't like the steal your opponent's minions effect (hence why Mind Control Tech was HoF).
I have a love/hate relationship with Priest's steal effects; I love performing them, but loathe playing against them.
I suspect this will see play, but I think the meta will ultimately determine whether or not the card is strong.
This card has some potential.
Don't know if Priest need that many tools against aggro, but this sure seems like a decent option. Easy to spellburst but can wait a little with that much health, holds a lot of damage, can be healed, maybe buffed, taunt. The whole package is quite solid.
On turn 4 is still avaiable to steal some enemy minions, and thats the main weakness of Cabal Shadow Priest
I didn't think of this application.
So the Cabal and the Kabal are two different organizations... I'm sure that doesn't get confusing at all!
This is a less reliable form of Cabal Shadow Priest since you don't get to choose the minion stolen, but if your opponent only has one minion that can be stolen, not too bad. Especially if you steal a Bone Wraith.
Quick! Someone give me something clever to write here.
Mind control Priest will one day outcancer Resurrect Priest.
And you thought Convincing Infiltrator was annoying, now we have to deal with this guy
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
It's a permanent steal, so it doesn't get charge.
Love this, but I know a lot of people will probably hate it. My one gripe is that it is another card which explicitly counters itself, so mirror matches become a game of chicken.
Welcome to the site!
A strong card, with great defensive potential. The Spellburst effect is just a bonus, really.
