My wild Thief Priest deck will enjoy this card very much. Although the archetype isn't the most competitive, i find it quite fun and challenging to beat your opponent with their own deck.
Per the devs, if the original is on the board, you’ll steal it. If it’s a sigil/secret/quest, theirs will be destroyed (you can’t steal it since you can’t have two of the same). If it’s a weapon, you play your copy then it’s immediately destroyed and replaced by the original.
But you can’t steal hero cards if they’ve already been played, sorry….
I have completed each and every gameplay achievement out there. These indeed require a lot of (mindless) grinding. Prepare to lose a lot of games (like really an enormous amount) since the objective is just to finish the achievements, winning is merely optional. Those 3 are relatively simple to build a dedicated deck around though:
Probably just for memes, because if your game plan consist of dicking your opponent then very likely you're not aiming to win anyway.
The amount of hoops you need to go through just for this to work, not to mention the amount of rng, and the poor cards associated with this effect like Psychic Conjurer. You're better off trying to make control hunter work.
I just can't understand why cards like these get printed. If it ever gets good half the community would be in flames, and if its useless then why even bother? But team5 has just got to do it; my only fear now is that in their determination they might actually at some point in the next 2 years make thief priest work, and its not too difficult to see the end results of that endeavor.
A couple initial ideas. I really like the flavor of Bad Romance, but the effect is admittedly on the basic side. Covetous Shade works nicely with all the stat play Priest has been getting recently, like Switcheroo and some of the Castle Nathria stuff. Lots of cool ideas for the comp so far!
Both are neat, but I prefer Bad Romance. I'd recommend using this art, though:
Thief Priest support... I'm not sure how much I like this. I can see it staying on the board for a max of 2 turns before something is done to remove it ASAP. Any longer than that, you were losing to begin with and should have just conceded.
With that in mind, Wild Priest will have a number of shenanigans though to keep this around and certainly to pull needed cards from your opponent's deck.
The description is a little weird, because it implies that you get to choose from their entire hand, which would be funny UI wise. Pretty sure what you get is something like Star Student Stelina where you get to choose from three cards.
But will it see play? Well, rogue hasn't played any secrets in the last four months and it has been ages since we seen rogue secrets at all. And honestly, rogue is the last class where disruption actually matters, because you're more likely to want to play your game than prevent your opponent from playing his.
It's basically The Arsenal for the void cards, it's decent enough but I don't think that you run such an expensive finisher when you have Kai'Sa and Supercharge.
The truth of the matter is that most Priest steal cards in Standard are bad and problematic and punish the Priest to a large extent. Drakonid Operative requires a dragon package that won't win you the game (and The Harvester of Envy -- excellent name, btw -- isn't a Dragon and that doesn't help), Soothsayer's Caravan has the life expectancy of a chainsmoking mayfly, and Psychic Conjurer does nothing to advance your victory condition and only feels good to play when you don't have one.
What these all have in common is that basically none of them hit the hand. They're deck-only (at best!), severely limiting the effect. That's Standard.
Wild will be wild, a nightmare of denial where the only time Priest will be acceptable is when it's stealing from an even worse shut-out deck: no one will weep when a conventional Shudderwock deck is shudderwrobbed.
So for this to be scary, we'd have to admit that an aimless Priest with no victory condition running Soothsayer's and Conjurer is scary. And then it could only really be scary to control or maybe decks with Hero cards.
Rogue stealing your hand is simply worse feels than this and much more likely to lose you the game (and they can shadowstep and Zola and Brann it, though they should have already won before any of that). Branned Mutanus and Blademaster Okani get more denial in and do it cheaper.
I will predict that Dane will play this in Miracle Priest with Archbishop Benedictus and steal the opponent's entire deck, and it will be absolutely glorious.
As it stands, I don't see this being anything more than a meme card. Priest doesn't have many ways to generate copies of opponent's cards (I'm sure we'll see a few in this set...), but even assuming that isn't an issue, you'd need to find a turn where you can spend 3 mana on this and actually want to play the generated cards. It's probably quite easy to find time to do this with 1 card, but doing anything useful with more feels like a massive stretch.
I'm not sure there has been a time since Witchwood when thief priest hasn't been completely overshadowed by burgle rogue, and I can't imagine it having enough support to step out of that shadow. So if this card is going to work out, it's probably thanks to a very specific card in this set. Maybe something like a spell that adds a 1 mana 1/1 copy of a minion to your hand, which the Harvester could then easily steal the original with.
Also worth noting, there isn't widespread hate for Pirate Admiral Hooktusk, so being able to steal your opponent's cards doesn't necessarily translate to the culprit being hated.
It would be funnier if they didn't print any and you had to count on getting one from one of the many cards that generate something from another class.

Yeah, this won't be annoying at all. Cards like Thoughtsteal could help you reach cards before your opponent, stealing them before they ever enter their hand. You could even do the copying and then play this guy later, so the cards are stolen before they can react. Gross.

Hooktusk is not played much and usually is too passive. This card, hooktusk and Tickatus just need low playrates to avoid nerves.

The art is in point, but the cartoony style does not fit in Hearthstone art style I think. It just feels off compared to most HS-designs.
Should be great for the Marvel-game.
