    Stoneclaw Totem Card Image

Always the Totem that everyone always wanted to summon anyway besides the occasional Wrath of Air Totem (which can no longer summon, RIP).

I'm interested to see how this comp goes since it's all about simplicity.

  • Forged in the Barrens Midset Archetype Review & Decks - Demon Hunter, Druid, and Hunter

Deathrattle DH is a very fun deck for me. I don't feel like it's that strong but it isn't weak either. I really feel comfortable playing this new archetype of (hopefully) never-ending deathrattle chains.

    Is the orange poo Zephrys?

I'm guessing orange is legendary and blue is rare

    Competition Theme: Two The Point

I'll keep things brief - so should you!

    • You must create a card with two or less lines of card text
      • Short and simple is the name of the game this week - but make sure we still understand what your card does!

JFK is asking us to bring our simplest cards to the table this week - but simple doesn't have to mean boring!

As always, I can be reached through Discord or here on the site via PM if you have any issues to report.

This was a fun read. Looking forward to the other classes.

    Great news, thanks!

  • New Ionia Card - Zinneia, Steel Crescendo

Thats normal. Stun does not prevent units from attacking if the attack is triggered by a card effect. For example if you stun Irelia she can still attack by using Bladsurge to switch position with another unit. The same thing happens with Cataclysm even if your opponent unit is stunned the card will still force the attack.

  • New Ionia Card - Zinneia, Steel Crescendo

I played vs this card, and the opponent used Blade Dance while already having this card out. Zinneia then joined the attack as she should. But then i stunned her with Malhpite's Ground Slam, and she wen't back to the bench being stunned. I did this because i knew the opponent would play more blade dance, and i wanted to stun Zinneia so she couldn't join in on the next blade dance attack. Regardless, on the next blade dance attack that turn, while being stunned, Zinneia joins the blades and attacks me and deals damage to my nexus. I thought when a unit is stunned, it cannot attack? After that the oponnent did a regular attack, and then Zinneia was not able to attack. But it still lost me the game.

Well I guess if everybody is on the same page there's no news at all. Just conversation and discussion to pass the time

The rest are actively being worked on - Mage is being templated.

We'll be promoting the individual guides as well on the homepage, as they go up, so you won't have to worry about missing any of them. We will be promoting these three individually though, so don't hurt us if you see "repeat" content :D

  • Real Talk - The Ladder Grind

So what's the news here? pretty much every player, casual or competitive is complaining about this meta. The only ones defending it are Riot themselves. Hopefully they will realize that they were wrong and adjust the unholy trinity of Azir/Irelia, Tresh/Nasus and Trundle/Lissandra.

  • Completing Hearthstone's Forged in the Barrens Achievements for Rewards Track Experience - An Overview

Awesome content, particularly as I'm currently grinding achievements in dumpster legend.

Question: I'm seeing guides for demon hunter, druid and hunter atm - is the plan to gradually add the rest of the classes and a neutral guide, as time goes on?

  • Reminder: Today is the Last Day to Buy Hearthstone's 5 Standard Pack Bundle

Yes, in most cases (especially as expansion packs do have pity timers - these ones, we don't quite know). Although makes less difference for newer accounts that need cards from everywhere.

There is that advantage mentioned that for the patient folks out there, these Standard packs could count as packs from the upcoming expansion - if say, you already have all commons and rares from the past 4 sets. But it's a small headstart at best.

This one has really been mainly about its price, compared to all the past offers. In Hearthstone terms it almost felt like a bargain, which shows how rarely any truly attractive deals come about.

  • Real Talk - The Ladder Grind

I consider myself to be a pretty casual ccg player usually hovering around diamond or platinum in a variety of ccgs depending on how much headway I can make with off meta brews and my general comfort or skill with the game.

That being said, I've gotten pretty good at spotting when metas have reached a standstill of "not fun" however you would wish to define that personally.

I'll give an example from MTG so it doesn't sound like I'm ragging on legends.

When throne of eldraine released you would have two decks cat oven an aggressive list that drained you from 20 -> 0 using a cheap artifact and fires of invention a list that controlled you out and bursted you down at the end.

Sounds a little like Irelia Azir and Ezreal Draven or Thresh Nasus they both function the same.

These polarized matchups create a dice roll system where you can be favored going onto one and not the other, and then you switch decks to try and compensate and only tank your winrate as a result.

This is meta lock frustration defined as clearly as possible without hyperbole. 😤

Now this is where as a digital game Riot should be able to compensate quickly to these shifting balance issues, but they for some reason choose not to.

Take one look at Mogwai's or Swims most recent videos to see they are talking about the game as opposed to playing it.

They are frustrated too so Riot should get off the couch and hot fix the game already.

Thats my rant over, let me know if any of you are facing similar issues with the game atm.

  • Completing Hearthstone's Forged in the Barrens Achievements for Rewards Track Experience - An Overview

I'm not familiar with it personally (and more into written info for searching purposes), but I know several smaller creators did so as well. I'm sure they might have their appeal, it's always interesting to see how different people come up with different ideas.

In terms of longevity, one issue I find with video guides is that they can become outdated pretty quickly once we get several patches with various changes - it's much smoother to update articles. Although in this case I think it's mainly Plaguemaw the Rotting becoming a Quilboar plus N'Zoth, God of the Deep buff affecting Druid achievement. I suppose Refreshing Spring Water one became more difficult too.

That, and we are Standard focus primarily. ;) With Wild honorary mentions due to its wealth of options for everything. If we take several thousand people there is probably no two alike in terms of their entire collection, especially when it comes to Epics and Legendaries. So it definitely becomes a bit of "do it yourself" based on available options.

  • Captain Blackheart's Treasure

NUMBER ONE mistake I see a lot of people doing: Coining a pirate on 1 mana. What advantage does that give you? You have a hand of 2/3 pirates. Your opponent has a hand of 2/3 pirates. I can tell you confidently the extra 2 damage to face won't make a difference in the end. Keep your coin for later on in the game where it will have impact.
I played the brawl 8 times over the weekend (had the weekly quest for it), and every single opponent who coined a pirate lost.

  • Reminder: Today is the Last Day to Buy Hearthstone's 5 Standard Pack Bundle

Personally, I find those standard packs to be less valuable than regular expansion packs. I mean, isn't it far more likely to open a specific card out of the pack with the smaller card pool?

  • Completing Hearthstone's Forged in the Barrens Achievements for Rewards Track Experience - An Overview

Zeddy put out a pretty good guide for this with decks to be done in wild.  He did a good job, I must say

  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

I'm literally thinking of the artwork.

I guess I'm wrong but anyways...

    Lunar Eclipse?

Seems like playing without Da Undatakah and Dancing Swords makes it last a long time. Prize Vendor and Baleful Banker might work to make the game go faster if you don't play those, another thing you can do is to stop playing Shudders after their deck and hand is empty or mostly empty and just start going face with a board of Shudders. At least it was a win in that game, funny to see.

  • Ben Brode Talks About Hearthstone's Original Heroes - Hemet Nesingwary, Edwin VanCleef, & Cho'Gall Were All Heroes

Thinking about it some more, I guess there's a important distinction between 'consistent' and 'contradictory' traits.

A consistent trait would be something like poisons for Valeera: she doesn't use them in the lore (or on her hero portraits), but she could easily add them without it being at odds with her character/artwork. Anything in this category is OK and they wouldn't need to worry about representing them in the artwork.

Rexxar's weapon choice on the other hand is contradictory because he cannot use them both simultaneously, making it somewhat jarring. We could argue it falls apart anyway because non-hammer weapons exist in paladin, for example, but I think it would be especially bad with Rexxar's axes because there is no expectation for hunter to get axes in HS, whereas paladin does often get hammers. Plus all melee weapons are thematically closer to each other than a bow is to an axe (ignoring Rexxar's insistence on punching the opponent with his bow...).

I'm not sure if Garrosh ever made a big point about not wearing armour, so I don't know whether to classify that as consistent or contradictory. Meanwhile, I know Jaina was awful with fire spells in her youth, but I assume she's mastered them by this point, so I'd count that as consistent.

  • Vacuum Shaman

I just played a 50 minute long game with this deck.

    https://hsreplay.net/replay/7biguNepP4seAihFwMdiCK

I am going to add Baleful Bankers and a Prize Vendor to make my opponent draw more aggressively and hopefully close out games sooner.

  • Ben Brode Talks About Hearthstone's Original Heroes - Hemet Nesingwary, Edwin VanCleef, & Cho'Gall Were All Heroes

It was all about my WCIII fetish I guess, Rexxar was one of my favorite characters in the side campaign because I love beastmasters in all genres of games but I guess you're right. I can't find anyone but Rexxar in lore that fits to be hunter hero as well.

Can't say anything for Anduin or Garrosh tho. Either this or that way, They had to find someone for those portraits and any other heroes doesn't really fit for every aspects of their classes except Gul'dan or Malfurion I guess. Any of them can't really be all of their classes. I mean, fire spells for Jaina for example or Valeera with poisons.

I guess, its ok with this way.
