I think it's just that you have to go and individually click on each achievement when you've earned a bunch at once, and that you have to scroll down to look for the achievements. But come on, it's 2 extra clicks. It's not that big of a deal.
EDIT: Either that or he's talking about the achievement points having no current monetary value. I mean, why is this an issue? You have no obligation to hunt achievements except for bragging rights. Again, it's not a big deal.
Well written and thought out analysis. I don't have knowledge of any cards from before the year of the Dragon (when I started playing), so I can't make predictions about what will be included.
I am excited about the new cards, and I guess they'll pretty much all be new to me. I'm also excited about the experimentation that is sure to come with this, and every yearly core rotation. I'm also excited for budget deck opportunities. I'm also excited because I have more gold than ever saved for the next expansion, so going forward I'll have more complete collections.
Excellent article @Avalon. I agree with pretty much all of your points here, especially considering not including too powerful cards. One point of note though: since they explicitly named Shadowform as the only card returning from the Hall of Fame, it's pretty much 0 chance to see a return of Azure Drake and other rotated cards.
I think it's especially needed to include themes that have become core to class identities, but were not included yet in the basic set. You already named Silver Hand Recruit synergy for Paladin, but I think the same case could be made for themes like Evolve for Shaman, Deathrattle for hunter and Pure for Paladin. Because it's of little use to speculate about new cards, I think adding cards like Mutate, Terrorscale Stalker and Lightforged Crusader would make a lot of sense. Other cards I'd love to see return are Dire Frenzy, Blood Razor and Nightmare Amalgam.
Tauren Warrior? I mean, it has enrage and it's a cow tauren, which can be considered a last meal? Maybe Bloodhoof Brave, because it can be cooked rare? lol I'm out of silly puns...
As an avid Hearthstone control player also started from TGT era till now , I suggest you give Mythgard a try. Very smart mix of color/mana system which the best of both Hearthstone and MTG system. Apart from Lore , which Hearthstone benefits greatly from Blizzard WOW universe and fanbase, the gameplay blow Hearthstone out of the water, but not too complex to make your head hurt like Magic. Too bad this game comes from a small studio SO it really underrated
I am pretty sure that I make more exp while playing standard ladder than while playing BG. I do not have any numbers to back it up, but I spent last month playing BGs only (+ clearing all the quests) and in February I have only played standard ladder and I am pretty sure I will make more gold this month. I play for about 2-3 hours daily and usually it is enough for me to get 2 levels in one day, while during the BG month 2 levels in one day was a rarity (with the same amount of time play.)
The amount of salt from your opponent when you play Star Student Stelina and manage to shuffle Ramp Paladin's High Abbess Alura back into their deck.... this is what memes and dreams are made for 🥰
Tried farming XP with autoclicker in BGs while at work, not really that much XP gained so I prefer to not bother again with that.
I found that questing + achievements and 1h of playing the game every day is working for me, right now I'm at lvl 171 of the Battle Pass with 4k gold after buying the mid expansion with gold.
Just go with the flow and play whatever mode you want.
Here are some cards (that haven't been mentioned already) that I would like to see getting buffed or get some additional support:
I think I've only seen this card getting played once since it was released. Not sure how I would buff it but it certainly could use some help.
To be honest I prefer this version over the previously op version but the current version is just unplayable. I think a neat way to buff it would be to add another elnuk unit to the game to increase the consistency of its effect and to make elnuk decks more of a possibility.
This card is pretty cool but sadly also really bad. I'm not sure what the best way to buff it is but there are a ton of things Riot could try (e.g. make the buff stronger, make it fast speed, reduce the cost, etc.).
I'm not sure if anyone will agree with this one but I feel like 5 mana is just too much for granting a unit +3/+3. I don't think it needs a big buff but I think increasing the buff to +3/+4 would be fair.
Which mode makes you spend more time in 'XP mode'?
For ranked you are not getting XP whilst queuing into your opponent. And if you play an aggro deck, you might spend just 5 minutes in a match.
For battlegrounds, do you get XP at Bob's? And on the battleground? Because they last longer (takes a while for you to die, no matter how bad you are), does that make them a better XP/min spent at the game?
I wonder if anyone can give me some advise? I'm a F2P Hearthstone player since The Grand Tournament expansion. I played a bit of The Elder Scrolls: Legends when it started but I haven't played any other CCG's.
In Hearthstone i like to play my own decks or off meta decks I see on the internet. With these homebrew or off meta deck i still want to be competive, minimal rank 5/legend each month (on 2 servers). I don't play aggro (but I don't hate paying against it) but mostly more greedy midrange decks. I like to fight for the board. That's why I also like arena. Most important is that I'm never out of cards! I like to have a hand full of cards (draw of discover) so each turn there are many choices to make. I don't like polarizing decks. I want a chance to win in every game. I don't like the huge swing turns Hearthstone have at the moment, like Cheese Paladin. Besides Standard and a bit of arena/wild I don't play any other game modes. I don't like duels that much and i really dislike battlegrounds and solo adventures. I play around 80% of my games on pc and 20% on mobile.
With all this in mind, which CCG would you advise me to play? Runeterra, Magic, Mythgard or any other?
If it actually took anywhere near 10 months I might consider taking up socialism and fighting for .png equality :P
I'd be surprised and disappointed if it didn't arrive during the first expansion of the year, and astonished if it still wasn't out by the end of the second. It's already nearly a year since they teased it would be "legendary".
Interesting that were gonna get a new rogue skin this year, let's hope its not the BoH valeera skin but an actual alternative hero.
There is going to be less generation? Good! Glad to hear that, the random was getting out of hand! (And thats coming from a Casino mage/Burgle Rogue fan.) The current "random" is almost always good, and I really wish random is going to be actually random again, by give me bad cards sometimes instead of almost always good/game winning cards. All this BROKEN generation/infinte value has completely killed off control decks since Rise of Shadows.
"less removal and Lifegain" oh oh.. oh no... Let's hope the removal that does get printed is good, otherwise its yet again aggrostone and RIP Control. Less lifegain is kinda worrying but also good. Most lifesteal cards right now are in DH, so seeing less support for Il'gynoth is fine by me.
However this could also hint towards the fact that there will be plenty of removal & lifegain in the new core set, meaning that they won't need to print that much more of it! That would be interesting, looking forward to hearing more about the core set!

Oh I asked specifically in that tweet if it would be a new character and not just another Valeera portrait

very interesting analysis
Mecha'thun's Secret Passage
Myra does a better job at that, it's cheaper, so with prep you can play cloak of shadow on the same turn to not die the next.
[Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)
Nope.
Again, PopeNeia almost had it. Also: DestroyerR was right to ask if basic was important, it is.
Dean Ayala's Community Q&A #6 - Reworking Starting Experience, Shadow Priest, Commander/EDH, New Rogue Hero This Year
It took only 7 years!

Tauren Warrior? I mean, it has enrage and it's a cow tauren, which can be considered a last meal? Maybe Bloodhoof Brave, because it can be cooked rare? lol I'm out of silly puns...
Jokes aside, I'm going with the former, Tauren Warrior.
The Great Amalgamation!
I'd cut Sac Pact - it can only target friendly characters since the nerf.
What to play? Runeterra, Magic, Mythgard or another CCG
I suggest to give them all a try and see which did you like the most.

Maybe they'll bring back Tar Creeper? That's not removal, but it does help defend against aggro.

What are you talking about? It works just fine. Mostly. Duels is a little wonky right now.

The randomness in the game is random.
complete lie, I had RNG screw me over at least twice, this is concrete proof that Dean is specifically targetting me as a person.
