While normally I would agree, I think that we already have five different units that can damage themselves: Boxtopus, Fortune Croaker, Monkey Idol, Tahm Kench and Jack, the Winner. It's at critical mass, but you can easily replace one of those with Broadbacked Protector. I just think the effects those other cards offer (Challenger, card draw, pings and extra bodies, removal, or nexus damage) are better than healing your own Nexus. Especially since we already have healing options available that can heal our Nexus in our deck.
Such a tragedy ... adding a new card type to the game, then releasing nothing but memes of that type.
Landmarks could have made the game interesting, but instead they decided to make it "wacky." Like that "wacky" uncle you really only want to see about twice a year.
I'm almost certain that Star Spring is not a meme. It might take some work to figure out the optimal setup and region pairing, but I cannot see it failing to have a home. And The Howling Abyss would slot very nicely into the already-existing Warmother's deck as well - I did the math on that one in another thread, and it's actually got pretty good odds of not being bad (as long as your deck can "do nothing" on turn 7 and not die).
If the cards were from your deck, this would landmark would be busted. If the cards were reduced mana cost, or perhaps if they were guaranteed 3 mana or less so you were less likely to get unplayable cards, then maybe. But there are a LOT of substandard cards this could generate, AND you always discard your hand. I'm not feeling this.
I can't ever imagine running this AND Deny -- that would be excessive. I also can't imagine running this and NOT Deny -- you'd pay 2 extra mana to ensure protection against Warmother's Call, Vengeance, etc. So maybe like a 2x Deny + 1× Nopeify!, but honestly I'm just not seeing the point.
This card is almost certainly better than it looks. The weakness of a poro-based deck has always been that it has no beefy guys to hold down the board while the player works on buffing the little guys (except Mighty Poro, which is not that great at 3 cost). Side note: Poro Cannon is also a PnZ card.
I didn't misunderstand, I just designed this as a stall deck that wins with inevitability. Mostly just a theorycraft. I think Soraka would change this a lot already.
It seems they are going to slowly add more wacky RNG cards to the game. What is LoR's target audience, after all? Competitive card game players don't like cards with an extreme degree of unpredictability like The University of Piltover. This is a card for fun casual games. It's the type of card that non-competitive people love (like Yogg-Saron in HS). But, from what i've experienced so far (i started playing a week ago), the game seems very focused on providing a balanced level of predictable randomness which is better for competitive and strategic play. Do they want to be more of a MtG type of game? Or a Hearthstone type of game?
This looks like a pure casino card. It doesn't specify what cards it generates. It just creates random cards. It sure is meant to be more of a meme than anything but this kind of card is pretty scary for a competitive environment. Not because it's broken or anything like that but because it can be frustrating for either player. This could be the Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron of Runeterra: strong enough to see play but not strong enough to be nerfed and frustrating for players all over the ladder.
Is this that bad though? I feel like this is actually playable. It reminds me of Aluneth, just a great draw engine when you're low on cards. I don't think Jinx would be alive by the time this discards your hand though but I still think drawing 3 random fleeting cards could be just really insane especially when they hit huge bodies late game. At worse, it'd just be a discard fodder and at best it'd just randomly win you games. At the very least, I like this as a control matchup tech. I'm hoping a bit that this won't be seeing that much play though (even if I like the card), this randomness could prove too much to handle. It'd be like playing against Nab decks all over again.
This seems really good. Pretty much any Keyword makes this a better than average card. Assuming that it works like Plunder Poro, it can’t get negative keywords like Ephemeral or Fleeting. That means the only “low-roll” is Overwhelm, and even that isn’t bad. Getting this as a 2/3 Tough, Challenger, or Elusive can be really good.
Card is called "University" but encourages hyper agro play and has better synergy with Jinx then Heimerdinger. Flavor wise, it's the exact opposite of it was supposed to be.
Yeah I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt with the Howling Abyss, but two meme Landmarks istoo far. Hopefully they change it to create copies of cards played that game, so that players can play around it a bit.
I’m starting to get annoyed with LoR’s card design. I was willing to accept the Howling Abyss because at least it is fun and crazy RNG, the Piltovan Academy is so random that it’s not even fun anymore. It doesn’t specify “from your regions” either, so the opponent has no way to play around it. It also seems like it wouldn’t be a bad card in a discard deck, which scares me. Hopefully they rework the card to be at least somewhat predictable. Either revealing the cards or making the cards copies of random cards played this game would make it a lot better.
New Ionia Spell - Nopeify!
They should have giving this spell to another region.
New Ionia Spell - Nopeify!
This should have been burst to see play.

That Patched Porobot might be exactly the card I need to make my janky Daring Poro deck actually viable.

No please, don't give us many playable cards with high RNG variance.
Hearthstone teaches that having playable cards with high RNG variance is very very bad, today from just 2 games i almost wanted to puke.
Don't be like that LoR, cards with limited randomness like Remembrance are ok, cards with high RNG variance aren't.
New Piltover & Zaun Landmark - University of Piltover
I don't think this card is that bad, you still draw your card every turn, so maybe it will find a home as a top end in an aggro/burn deck.
Will i be happy if it will see play? Not at all

Exactly! I expected a Landmark that would refill spell mana or something, this card is just weird meme randomness.
