As someone who thought that this card would be incredibly busted, I feel like there were a few reasons why my evaluation of the card was way off. The biggest reason comes in the form of Voracious Reader, which just wasn't revealed at the time when everybody was hyping it up. When the two are compared, it is kind of laughable how bad Glide is for more aggressive lists when you can spend two less mana for the same effect with a body stapled onto it.
The other main issue that hurts the card is that Skull of Gul'dan is more often than not still the better card draw spell as it will almost always be good to cast, while Glide has some matchups where its less than desirable. This is also where the meta comes into play, with it being weak to some ofo the more prevalent decks in the meta, like face hunter.
All this being said, Glide still has been toyed around with, being featured in some incredibly aggressive DH decks that have their curve top off at 3 with two copies of Glide and the Reader just because it spewed out it's hand absurdly fast so I do think there is some room for the card to see play later on. That and it did put in a ton of work against some decks, like Guardian Animal Druid as forcibly mulliganing the opponents hand before they cast their main win condition is pretty decent.
For just one more mana, you can play an actual sea monster instead of taking up two board slots with a 0/3 and an ephemeral, both of which are going to die immediately.
If you want an Elusive sea monster, use Fae Guide.
Deny can stop skills -- that's a very important difference.
On one hand, there are a LOT of cheap spells that never get Denied because of the mana disadvantage. But on the other hand, if you really need to Deny a cheap spell, you're going to do it anyway.
Nopeify! still spends a card and takes up a slot in your deck, no matter how cheap it is. That slot is probably better spent on something that costs only slightly more mana and is much, much more broadly useful.
Then again, if this is in my hand when my opponent plays Single Combat or Make it Rain or Unspeakable Horror, I'm probably very happy. And those spells get played a LOT. Not to mention the slow, cheap healing spells just added to Targon.
I guess I have to give this 3 stars for now because it's really hard to judge until I can try it.
I don't know that more randomness was what poro decks needed, but I guess it's slightly interesting that Mighty is no longer the only option if you want something that's not a 1/1.
I suppose the idea here is that you play Freljord and P&Z, which are now the two regions with actual poro synergy. You include this, and hold it until it rolls SpellShield. Then you can play it and actually make a Heart of the Fluft with one or both of the other keywords that matter (Overwhelm and Elusive), and maybe it won't get wrecked by removal or frostbite.
Still seems like it's more trouble than it's worth. There are far more straightforward ways to play finishers with those keywords.
Such a tragedy ... adding a new card type to the game, then releasing nothing but memes of that type.
Landmarks could have made the game interesting, but instead they decided to make it "wacky." Like that "wacky" uncle you really only want to see about twice a year.
Seems too overcosted, doesn't actually gives value itself will be blocked and killed for free for some elusive damage, if the mumblesprite didn't die after attacking it would be worthwhile.
I essentially played 2 decks to legend this season (September).
From Bronze to D5 I mainly used a Budget Aggro Hunter (68% WR). This deck went through several revisions but here is the final version:
### Budget Aggro Hunter # Class: Hunter # Format: Standard # Year of the Phoenix # # 2x (1) Adorable Infestation # 2x (1) Demon Companion # 2x (1) Dwarven Sharpshooter # 2x (1) Intrepid Initiate # 2x (1) Tour Guide # 2x (1) Wolpertinger # 2x (2) Freezing Trap # 2x (2) Phase Stalker # 2x (2) Pressure Plate # 2x (2) Scavenger's Ingenuity # 2x (2) Voracious Reader # 2x (3) Animal Companion # 2x (3) Eaglehorn Bow # 2x (3) Kill Command # 2x (4) Hyena Alpha # AAECAR8AD6gCtQOHBP4Mn6UDoqUD+68D/K8D/7oD3MwDm80Dos4DgtADxtEDudIDAA== # # To use this deck, copy it to your clipboard and create a new deck in Hearthstone # Generated by HDT - hoodies at travis scott
On my final run from D5 to legend, after quite a few attempts with several other decks, I tried Soul Shard Demon Hunter. It took 27 games with 11 losses (71% WR) starting at D5 no stars. Here is the version I played:
### Soul Reaper DH # Class: Demonhunter # Format: Standard # Year of the Phoenix # # 2x (1) Battlefiend # 2x (1) Consume Magic # 2x (1) Spirit Jailer # 2x (1) Twin Slice # 2x (2) Blade Dance # 2x (2) Manafeeder Panthara # 2x (2) Soul Shear # 2x (3) Aldrachi Warblades # 2x (3) Shardshatter Mystic # 2x (4) Ashtongue Battlelord # 1x (4) Kayn Sunfury # 2x (4) Marrowslicer # 2x (5) Glaivebound Adept # 2x (5) Soulshard Lapidary # 2x (6) Skull of Gul'dan # 1x (7) Soulciologist Malicia # AAECAea5AwLaxgPP0gMOh7oDnLwD4LwD2cYD1MgD98gD/MgD/sgD0c0D+84DzNIDzdID1NID99UDAA== # # To use this deck, copy it to your clipboard and create a new deck in Hearthstone # Generated by HDT - https://hsreplay.net
Match Ups:
Priest: Easy, Consume Magic and burst damage is key.
Shaman: Easy, everything beats Shaman.
Warlock: Easy, self damage Warlock makes for easy games.
Demon Hunter: Easy, this version is simply better in the mirror.
Hunter: Easy, life gain, board clears and taunt simply shut aggro down.
Mage: Easy, just overwhelm them with damage.
Warrior: Toss-up, comes down to your life gain vs their bombs and their armor gain vs your damage output.
Druid: Toss-Up, sometimes they just get the nuts and ramp to Guardian Animals or bust out a Kael'thas on turn 5 and there's nothing you can do. Other games you just smorc them down. Blade Dance is key in this match up.
Rogue (Stealth/Weapon): Easy, see Hunter.
Rogue (Secret): Toss-up, really depends on how well you play around Plagiarize and if you have immediate removal/silence in hand for Hanar.
Paladin: Difficult, you have to juggle keeping their board clear, going face and hoping you have an answer for their Divine Shield, buffed, heal for 8, Taunt minion turn. Consume Magic and Kayn Sunfury are key in this match up.
I am sorry for being chieldish, there's no reason to make this forum hpwn 2.0.
Anyway I will stand on my point this card will not be oppressive, 22 hp restore takes a lot of time to do, you need to draw this early for this to be relevant.
And we are yet to see a burst way of completing this task in one go (like fiora + judgment for example).
I will calculate how long it takes in the best case scenario once we see all cards.
I was possibly one of the loudest people about this card, and i didn't complain because i thought it would see play in EVERY SINGLE DECK, which i even flat out said and still people tried to GOTCHA me for. I complained about how if it's played on turn 4 against you, it literally makes the mulligan useless, unless you're playing an aggro deck. Playing mage and you kept an AOE in the mulligan against the aggro class? You better hope it gets max use before turn 4 against the aggro class, or else it'll be back on the bottom of your deck. Saving polkelt for turn 4 or a similar four drop that most decks are based around? Better hope you go first.
But i guess if i was a smug dick, i wouldn't think about that either.
I think it got outclassed by voracious reader for the defence of anyone rating glide 2 mana geeves wasn't revealed yet. I think glide have no place in aggro dh as long as voracious reader isn't nerfed it's cheaper and gives you a 1/3 and I think aggro decks in general prefer to bring the opponent's hp to 0 rather than mess with their hand.
Gnomeferatu saw play but wasn't op at all, people were going insane back in 2016.. Around 50% meta defining..
Well dirty rat you are right about it.. It was good but it have great body for cost.
Card that just disrupt with high tempo loss rarely see play.
Glide is inferior to voracious reader so nerfing it would not only bring aggro down but make glide more desirable.
Another one I missed is rin that card seeing actual play was a surprise for everyone, but it wasn't overhyped, we had such a slow meta back at k&c
Well, he started, I am against personal attacks, but he didn't have to ridicule my use of some words I don't even use myself.. what's even the point to do that?

I was poking fun at the point you were making that your entire "card defense" hinged on win the game conditions being "explicit" in the card description or not. And I was poking holes in that defense by rebutting with evidence and experience.
You're welcome to disagree, or even hold your ground (props to you for sticking to your guns even when facing adversity, regardless if you are correct or not).
However, what I said was so far removed from "personal attacks" it's not even funny. I think you probably need to go google ad hominem and come back. A personal attack would be "DoubleSummon, you're dumb and you don't know what your talking about. You're just a scrub who is new. git gud"
That, in theory would be a personal attack.
I said that you loved to use the word explicit, so I bolded it for you. That is a jab at your logical defense. Not a personal attack. Learn the difference. On the flip side, saying that you are "sorry for using words that I don't understand" is using an assumed passive aggressive statement that implies that I'm too dumb to understand what the word explicit means.
My jab = You love this word so I'm poking fun at you for using it as your card defense lynchpin.
Your comment = You're too dumb to understand this word.
If anything, your attack is an implied ad hominem. Mine is not.
I would suggest to not use a card discussion as a place to beef eachother.
I agree that DS got a little off with his argumentation but nonetheless it has nothing to do with Star Spring.
We eighter should get back to the card discussion or shut the conversation I think :/

Not very good, and this won't help.

its existence puts all non tempo aggro decks in check. if at least 2 control combo decks would be tier 1 this card would kick them out

This card art appeared in the the tutorial didn't it?
it's a poro, piltover got another poro card this expansion (the discard one) so maybe freljord + pilover poro deck?
New Ionia Spell - Nopeify!
deny, but in smaller scale, what people wanted to nerf deny into. could be good depends on meta.
New Piltover & Zaun Landmark - University of Piltover
Interesting, an instant Jinx level up, but an aggro deck doesn't want a value engine that costs 5..
so I am not sure about this card seems overcosted.. and random cards..? would be more powerful if it was copies of cards from your deck.
I think this is too weak as is.

The only thing I don't like is no Broadbacked Protector -- I think that card is going to be auto-include for any 3x Soraka + 3x Star Spring deck.
