I'm a little sad that they didn't go the route of "If you played an elemental last round" for Elementals. It would have made Elementals a very interesting playstyle (although I can see why it might not be the best mechanic for Battlegrounds). Even something like "If you didn't buy this card this round" would make Elementals a bit more unique. I just wish that they'd gone in a different design direction than just Buffs plus Card Generation.
Well, I was thinking when and if team5 was ever going to do something about turtle mage and today to my amazement, they did. I personally dont think the deck was consistent enough for standard anyway, but when it works its just about the most cancerous combo deck currently in existence. Maybe it's not entirely dead yet, with Educated Elekk being so handy.
That nerf to Guardian Animals means they cant just go hard on turn 5 after an Overgrowth without another card like Innervate, but I'd much rather they simply nerf Twilight Runner instead. Maybe even Lake Thresher. But when will team5 just address that massive problem with druid right now, which is the ridiculous ramp they can get to. I swear there are games where a druid can be 5 mana ahead, and that's just wrong.
Remember that Baku is a beast so you can't play her if you want to use Witching Hour to resurrect Hadronox in Odd Druid. I made that mistake in the past.
This is probably how they're cranking out one a month for each hero. Maybe good for telling background stories for the heroes for those that don't know them. Maybe not so great for replayability. Free packs aren't too bad.
Dungeon runs might've been free, but you also just got 1 during an expansion cycle.
Invoke is not nearly as random as people seem to think it is. If you actually played it instead of just complaining about it, you'd understand this.
I've played a lot of invoke, and it's actually very far from feeling random as you play it. You can very consistently get what you want. Especially with cards that restrict the invoke to certain mana costs (i.e., the majority of invoke effects), you can narrow your wish list to a two or three items and be confident that one of them will be offered.
For example, I recently saw Mogwai complaining that his opponent's whole game plan changed because that opponent "randomly" got Cosmic Inspiration. I doubt that was the case. When you are playing Invoke and you can see that you'll be able to contest the board in a certain matchup, you start invoking for cards like Golden SisterBADCARDNAME and Cosmic Inspiration. If you are against a deck with lots of weak minions, you'll add Meteor Shower and possibly Cosmic Rays to the wish list. When a card like Solari Priestess only draws from a pool of six cards, you are basically guaranteed to get one of the two or three cards you wanted. If the card you really want isn't in her pool, you cast your net wider with Lunari Priestess, or dip into a different pool with Starshaping.
What this means when you are playing against it is that: 1) You should think about what the Targon player will want from the invoke effect, 2) You should assume they get it, and 3) You can't play around the units, so you should focus on playing around the spells.
It's not even in the same universe as a card like Hearthstone's Unstable Portal. If you take the trouble to remember what's available in the invoke pool and actually think about what they probably chose, it's fine. And the fact that every spell is slow makes it that much easier to play around them.
The one card I would agree is kind of Hearthstone levels of stupid is Living Legends. That's just a blatant "I win no matter what" card, which is terrible design. Yes, at 10 mana, it needs to be strong, but nothing needs to be THAT strong.
Uro could be annoying, but I really think they should have banned the stupid Lotus Cobra instead. Never should have printed this pile of garbage. Its pretty much either instant removal or concede.
I totally just crafted Tortollan Pilgrims this morning to play that cancer of a deck. Not going to lie, I'm a little pissed about that. But at least I can get my dust back.
I think the only way to make it a viable option anymore is if the copy that is played gets to be copied by Educated Elekk
I mean, since when are they worried about balance? The new motto is: keep churning out new stuff, don't worry about fixing old stuff. Pirates and Demons are still useless since a single divine shield Amalgadon two-for-ones you every time and there's nothing to fall back on like deathrattles or divine shields of your own. About half of the heroes are completely unplayable (I'm counting about 22 heroes out of 47), so not buying a Tavern Pass cuts your winrate to shreds. Damage spikes are still insane making Demons even more unplayable (since they hit like a wet noodle and can't afford a single loss past about turn 8).
Lee Sin seems very strong when you have the right cards around him - and especielly if he is played on curve and isn't dealt with immediately. The overall weakness of the deck (primary the Ionia/Targon version) is that you have to draw him, and if he is removed right away you might be en trouble.
I don't think he is broken at all. But it is not the most difficult OTK.
There are a few streamers I consider to be bad at the game -- frequent misplays, not even understanding common interactions and effects, etc. I'm not going to name names, but let's just agree that they exist. You can watch those streamers play any Lee Sin deck -- it doesn't even have to be a very good deck -- and you can see them make several egregious misplays over the course of the game. But then when Lee Sin drops, the rest of the game did not matter, even against an opponent who was playing well. Dragon Kick = Win. Almost without exception. And because Lee Sin lives in the same region as Deny and several other strong removal counters, it's nearly impossible to kill him before he can kick.
Of course, it's a different story when they face a mirror match. Then it's hilarious to see how fast they go down.
But the fact that Lee Sin can so often save your bacon when you've played like a blind monkey, that's just ... wrong.
Should be a 5/5. Rakanishu does pretty much the same thing on his Hero Power, and I don't think it's setting the stats. Otherwise Lil'Rag would be quite bad.
Book of Heroes really doesn't excite me at all. Pretty lackluster solo content in my opinion, much much preferred the dungeon run style content, for much greater replayability in the long term, as well as far more fun per run.
I agree that Rakanishu seems very slow and weak, whereas Al'Akir will be insane in early game and should be somewhat decent later on as well. If Rag gets to farm some small tokens early on, he can also be pretty strong, but a slow start will likely mean having an useless Hero Power for the entire game.
The strength of the tribe itself is hard to evaluate without playing with it first, so I'm not even going to try.
Quite possibly. It looks like he merged with the Headless Horseman for Hallow's End this year, so maybe he's just here to give us some rhymes for a while.
You can be sure of one thing though: if he's another new paladin skin before rogue gets one there'll be riots.

Lee Sin is absurdly OP right now, and here's why:
