Changes to Darkglare is brutal. Literally destroyed the card.
This card deserved the nerf, the deck is a huge cheat in Wild. I took Legend yesterday with it in just an evening with 88% WR. Most of the games were finished on turn 5. I strongly believe that this deck shouldn't exist.
This event feels quite lackluster compared to the Fel Fire Festival event, AND it had a much better cinematic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbsbCO5qC5A
I'd say the general consensus is this is a buff, since the card is played mostly for its battle cry not its stats. So getting the battle cry 1 turn earlier matters more, hence a buff.
That said, I believe Blizz should also offer refunds for lateral changes like this. By lateral I mean a combination of a buff and a nerf. Though it matters less, the stats were still reduced.
Well, consider whether making it a 3 mana 1/1 with the same effect would be a buff or a nerf. That would make it the most broken card in the game's history by a huge margin, but I only equated 1 mana for 1/1 in stats right?
Moving something from 9 to 8 mana has more implications than just costing 1 less. It lets you fit in 2 mana cards or a hero power alongside it, and in Willow's case removes the somewhat awkward part where you wanted to just play the 8 mana demon on turn 8 anyway, which would often leave you without a demon in hand for turn 9.
Also her effect isn't 'meh': the pool of big demons in Standard is, and that is subject to change as expansions come out.
I mean... He probably should've been reworked into that new Hero.
The difference between Taverns costing less and gaining gold after upgrading is only relevant when you can't afford to Tavern up. In every other case, it's virtually the same.
I believe they didn't do it that way because a new Hero has a feeling of novelty that a buff hasn't.
All right pack it up gentlemen, Darkglare counterfeiting operations have officially been shut down.
1 mana draw 5 is now 1 mana draw 4... not much difference, your opponent always finds both Sinister Strikes and Eviscerates anyway.
I’ll take any nerf to Priest, but the problem is that the Mind Control mechanic is just inherently unfun to play against, its a Priest problem in general. Although now this finally has reasonable stats for effect
By any chance does this happen with the effect from Sphere of Sapience as well? I remember an opponent a day or two ago didn’t do anything the first turn after they played it, but after that one turn they seemed fine.
Personally I don’t remember having a problem with it though, Zephrys hasn’t locked me out that I can remember (though that’s really the only discover card I’ve played much of recently, so he might technically be coded differently)
The problem with Slate is that he has simplified card text. It should be "Kill any minion damaged by your spells", he even has trigger effect for that. Instead he should have aura similar to spell damage.
Celestalon has confirmed that you'll never get your own matchup unless there are only two players left. That statement also suggests you'll only get one (random) matchup to choose the winner from.

Lol they actually think making a 9 mana 7/7 into an 8 mana 5/5 is a buff

No way Darkglare is a buff, refreshing only 1 mana crystal makes it way worse

Dunno how much Wild do you play, but the last time Secret Mage got a lethal on me on turn 3 was... Never, i think.
And yeah, Barnes nerf was necessary.

As Hearthstone progresses, year upon year, Jaina gradually puts on more and more clothing.
by 2026 she’ll be wearing a very nice parka.

Am I the only one who thinks this portrait is...weird? I can't put a finger on Jaina's facial expression there, it's creeping me out.
I'm excited for the other datamined portraits though.

I understand, but I do not like this "not so wise" decision about putting hero skin not as reward for some gameplay activities, but just for money.
I like portraits that show that you "did something cool" not because you are whale guy. Arthas is great example of what I have on mind.
But, whatever. It's Blizzard.

Quest mage is easily countered by any aggressive deck. It's unfun to play against, sure, but not a meta tyrant.
Darkglare warlock, on the other hand, was reaching a point where its worst matchup is the mirror, akin to sn1p-sn4p warlock back in the days.
This nerf was absolutely necessary for the wild metagame's health.
