Does this still work with the new Power Word: Shield that doesn't draw? You can probably get a 9/9 early, but I have some doubts that is enough to win in this brawl. In any case, Frazzled Freshman or Shieldbearer would likely be a better minion now that you don't need the mana discount for the Power Word: Shield.
I agree with a lot said on both sides of the argument, yes, the guaranteed pack technically lowers the entry fee to 50g, if you were going to buy that pack anyway. Which is often omitted by ppl saying you need to get to 6-7 wins to break even, which is not true, it is to get your entry fee back, but you also gained extra rewards on top of that, you didnt just break even.
With that said, i think i would welcome if the entry fee and subsequently the rewards were tweaked mainly for the reason so it is more accessible to broader audience and so ppl dont feel bad if they experiment with stuff and come up short. Still should matter if you have experience playing the game mode tho and i would like for it to be possible to keep accumulating my collection solely by playing arena, which the new XP reward system might help with, we'll see.
And one last thing i would agree could help is lowering the max number of wins, while the decks that go the distance are amazing and you want to play more with them, not less, it is time consuming, it just is. And even i, who have been playing mostly pure arena in past few years have stopped, because i just dont have time to do so anymore. I still love the game mode for what it offers, but if i want to play out my run, id have to do like 2-3 games a day, which means that a good run can take me almost a week to finish.
I dont think you can really speed up the individual matches, that would just mean ur pushing 1-2-3-4 or lose and that isnt great, but lowering the max amount of possible wins and entry/rewards accordingly could make the runs not feel so overwhelming and also bad runs not feel so bad.
As stated in the caption this treat is about (permanent) Spellshield and Hush not targon in general.
Lets start with spellshield.
Why is spellshield in my oppinion a problem while barrier is perfectly fine?
1. It is permanent
2. there is not a single deck that can afford trading 2 spells for 1 unit (and keep in mind that most LoR spells arent even leathal for units)
3. it protects from global spell effects like ruination
4. spellshield units are hardly more expansive than non spellshield units
Meanwhile hush is devestating for:
most of the champions
the majority of elusive decks
the majority of buff decks
for frostbite
and in general synergy driven decks
Tell me guys: who enjoys this massive swing from an interactive synergy driven game to a game that is just about denying the opponent the opportunity to play the game?
Edit: i changed the title of this article to make it more clear what it is about
Whoa! It's been something crazy like 8 months since we removed decks from the homepage of Out of Cards. Today, that changes.
New Features
Homepage Decks Widget
Quite possibly the most complicated system we have on the site so far.
Here's how it works:
The current "game" that you have active is what decks will display by default.
Decks will show, by default, "Week" timeframe and "Hot" sorting with only decks that include a written guide.
Here's the planned update for Friday:
Adding the ability to customize your defaults.
Did you look at some Runeterra news but you only want to see Hearthstone decks? No problem.
Do you want to default to Hearthstone Wild Paladin decks? You go!
All the sorting options available now will be able to be saved as your own preferences.
Dev Notes
I wanted a more visual approach with icons for Classes and Regions for their respective games, but the interesting issues with cross-platform and cross-device features were prohibitive. Also, Demon Hunter can rot in hell for having such a long name that is tough to design around. I believe it looks cleaner without them all out in the open, at the sacrifice of extra clicks if you want to quickly check multiple classes/regions out. This might be updated in the future to make class selections easier.
And on the note of class selections, I already know a request is going to be written somewhere that asks we allow you to customize the filters with something such as "Paladin and Druid decks". This might be a feature enhancement down the line. I'm not making any promises right now though.

But for me, the worst is the tavern brawl one. Since I'm forced to play that mode :(
Same for me except that it's the battlegrounds one. Ick
With both Battlegrounds and Tavern Brawl quests you can just start a game and immediately Concede if you don't want to play the mode. Both will still count the game despite not actually playing a turn.
For the sake of lore, Crimson Shellen is the brother of Kara Shellen, the Classic Legendary for the set. He has a very... interesting job. To put it bluntly, he's a murderer. A time traveling assassin. In an effort to keep all the timelines safe, he travels back in time to murder problematic people before they become problematic. He's here in Scholomance Academy presumably to kill a target. Kel'Thuzad maybe? He's not inherently evil, but his methods are of moral ambiguity.
So, Crimson Shellen works for the Commission, eh?:D
Since Riot was willing to say that, they must already have enough data on him to know he should get some buffs. They don't need more data on him to decide to make those changes. Plus, his play rate will go down anyway with the new expansion coming out and players wanting to use the cards.
Besides, I doubt many people at all will change what they play based on this. If someone already enjoyed Lee Sin enough to want to make a deck around him, I doubt a vague patch note would change their mind.
I don't mind the hero power one, it will auto complete at some point. I hate something like play 10 murlocs or 10 beasts or whatever. I'm not going to play a BS game to finish a quest.
I think Noc is low, because people kinda tunnel visioned towards pairing him with Diana. They rarely saw potential of Noc outside of SI Targon Nightfall aggro. Such a shame tbh.
This is a brutal brawl. I got stomped on by Jade Idol, Coldlight Oracle, and Naturalize my first time through, so I paid it forward and destroyed my next opponent with the same. I won't play again.
I take it you were keen to remove Lightning Storm, and that is what i'm most interested to see the motivation for, since the problem most people have with it is fully in line with your RNG strength.
I replaced Lightning Storm for a card that is better on average. And Volcano happened to be one. I also like that you enjoy Tornado, tho my intention was that it does it's thing 20 times in total instead of 21.
I might create a new card draw card instead of Tornado. May debate whether to bring back Lightning Storm or not.
With my climb in the last part of this season, I have been playing the hell out of most of these decks with my own flair to them. I am thoroughly convinced though that these recent builds with Darkglare will cause that thing to get nerfed and HARD at that. The fact that I have been able to drop 1-3 Giants by turn 4 consecutively is really terrifying. Flesh Giant may also be on the list since with Warlock you can manipulate your health so easily, but realistically it is a dominating deck.
The Pure Paladin build, I'm not surprised to see it. Although at the upper ranks before Legend I am seeing a lot of Mech Paladin abusing that Replicat-o-tron with Zilliax. Something awesome about dropping a hero power to get a 1/1 that turns into a copy of the mech on the board is amazing.
Also, I guess because it's not using a ton of recent cards, Secret Mage is really prominent. There have also been a few guest appearances of Quest Mage as well, but nothing too crazy like the other decks.

Finally accessed the store...but ALL of my decks are gone!
Created some quick jank deck so I can at least play the game (all of my decks are still gone)...
Can't join a multiplayer game. Okay, fine...I'll play against the AI then.

Call of the Mountain Adds Four New Emotes to Legends of Runeterra
You forgot to mention that you can get all four as a bundle for 570 coins (a 25% discount).
Two New Card Backs Coming in Call of the Mountain Feature Sunrise and Moonfall
It's worth noting that these are the first card backs that can actually give away information about your deck if you tie the back to the deck's theme.
(Other backs only advertise regions and Champions, which are always known anyway.)
Obviously, it won't matter if you're using Nocturne/Diana/Leona, but it would be relevant for a Champless deck.
