I really like the idea of this deck.  I do wonder if anyone has experienced running out of gas with it though.  I've played against it numerous times, and as long as I am able to keep in the game until the deck has only 1-3 cards in hand, I can control swing out of it.  Although this is an aggro deck, other than the Mana Tide Totem is there anything that can be done to help hand size?

  • Final Day Climb, First Time Legend

No idea, I didn't reach legend yet! But congrats!

OoC-ians seems a bit too difficult to me, maybe something like "outofcarders" maybe...

  • Final Day Climb, First Time Legend

Is it normal to scream so loud and jump around when you first hit legend? I hope it does.

Just want to say thank you and share my happiness in my beloved tavern (here). I finally reach Legend with Eggro Warrior by the genius NoHandsGamer (check him out guys). Man my head hurts every couple of games piloting this deck, with multiple considerations and decision making on every turn. But i wouldn't have it any other way.

The list is already posted here on the latest weekly Standard Meta Report #31 (delicious food for thought, thx sir targus).

So thank you my fellow OoC-ians (i don't know what we are called, lol) for encouraging me to take the grind this month. I'll be sure to enjoying my new Archmage Antonidas in the future. Thanks for reading and good luck out there!

Also my friend your post will inspire others - like you say this new system is potentially easier to reach the hallowed echelon of Legend so if you used to get Rank 5 on the old system, Legend is now calling your name!!!

It's most definitely easier, as noted by the rank 45k+ of the original post :) ... But I personally have no issue with it being easier. I'll probably try to hit legend myself (for only the second time) next month, just for the free legendary

  • Anyone else think expeditions feel worse with Bilgewater?

I think the idea that Riot believes it's too hard to get to 20 in Expeditions is right - as you've pointed out, it's already pretty hard to get to 20 in a constructed format where you can easily plan around the card. I think the power level of the effect is probably why they haven't decreased it's threshold - they want you to be able to play it, but they also want you to plan around other win conditions.

I think the problem with changing keywords between formats is that the change is way too subtle. A lot of players will be confused by the changes, and will have a harder time playing around cards because their knowledge of one format won't necessarily map onto any other formats. It's one thing to replace a card - the different name helps make it clear that players should expect different behavior. You could imagine a case where all Deep cards are replaced with slightly different named cards that have slightly different behaviors/keywords, but after a lot of that I think you have the same problem where folks will be confused switching back and forth between formats.

Honestly, the choice Riot made to have Rising Tides Champion archetypes show up 2x as often may be the whole problem here. Because there are so many Bilgewater champions in that set of archetype picks, there are lots more Deep plays than seem reasonable. Maybe when odds return to normal, there will simply be fewer Deep decks and the whole thing will feel better.

  • Budget Hearthstone Decks to Round Out Your Ladder Climb

Hey how is it going for you, mate?? I finally get to legend for the 1st time with Eggro Warrior by NoHandsGamer. It's not easy, but if you get the hang of it, you will crush Illidan which is abundant on diamond 2 - 1. Goodluck, mate!

I got an idea from anchorm4n's feedback and decided to just make it so once you take the bomb damage you get the card back so there's not as much dragging the damage and cards out.

Heyy congrats too, OP! I'm also a first time legend this month with the Eggro Warrior by NoHandsGamer. Piloting this deck really takes a toll on your mind really. Cheers for both of us who get here by breaking the meta. (No hate on Illidan)

Maybe animation is ok. But I really dislike the color palette of this. They are not complete each other.

Thanks everybody who tried to help me out this week. I've just submitted my card and will try to think things through before posting here next week ;-) The thing is that I'm still new to this and every idea that comes to my mind feels terribly exciting so that I want to share it with you :D

    One more round of feedback:

    @Feuerrabe:

Very interesting idea. I'm not sure about the powerlevel, this could be devastating and extremely frustrating to play against. The discard mechanic is meant to be a punishment for getting to play stronger than usual cards; by inflicting thi punishment upon your opponent you gain a huge advantage.

Thanks for your kind words! It was surely fun to create the card, but as you said, it's too bland. I like your chicken, the flavor is there! The only issue I have is that the other two chickens gain Attack while yours shuffles bombs, so that's a bit off. Making it a mech should be enough to go with the traditional effect and the card still see play because of the combo with Zilliax alone. I don't know. I got the impression people are fed up with bombs. I would give you 4 stars anyway, the chicken is cool and useful as it is.

Honestly I like Grub much more. The only thing I would change about his last iteration is that one player's cards should be returned after all his bombs exploded and not all of them.

  • New Bilgewater Spell - Pilfered Goods

This card looks to be Maokai's best friend to close out the game. I've never been a fan of drawing or copying cards from my opponent's deck/hand (in Hearthstone, for instance); I'd much rather draw from my own deck so I can be sure the cards I get actully synergyze with my game plan. But the fact that this removes cards from the opponent's deck seems huge for a mill concept like Maokai's.

  • Lightforged

I think it is very cool with paladin class

  • Am I crazy, or do they still not tell you what your daily quest is on login?

You're right, they can't please everyone all the time, but there's definitely something odd about their UI when compared to games like Hearthstone or MTG Arena. One big example that I know has come up in the past is the lack of visual indicator for how many wild cards and shards you have while you're browsing your collection.

It just seems like a few small tweaks would go a long way to making relevant information more front-and-center. For example, there's a lot of room on that home screen that they're basically using for long buttons - maybe make each quests its own icon and shrink down the text so they can fit more stuff without obscuring the art. For quests with long text, they can use distinct icons, short text, and hover text for the full text of the quest.

  • Why is Sejuani-Teemo a Thing?

I think 'Nexus-Strike' needs to be Sejuani's Frost because the control on auto--freeze every game mainly when she is with a Teemo which can seemingly be played 3 times in a row in decks of cards 40 & above. Especially after having to focus on him as an elusive is quite ridiculous, alongside the fact that you get a million free popper-puffs so most every card is getting 1 puff on it. As you go through cards the probability increases drastically that you're going to get boned out of the game and simply become infinitely controlled as even with only drawing a single card you're about to get frostbitten to 0 damage...

    - Draw a card, get frozen, play one hero or supporting unit, kill it or use a spell to draw a card, then maybe play one final unit - that's the only unit you get to attack with.
    - It's obviously worse when you're defending because you basically can't or you just take full damage and all of their heroes & units are still alive at the end of combat.
    - Hero combinations such as Yasuo can barely do anything already against these guys... but I'd need to be Demacia or something with him just to buff him 3 or 4 times after he became frost-bitten just to then scrape by mana to get a stun out. But by that point you've used all of your '1-Mana Cost Stuns'. You're left with Arachnoid from Demacia which is a 3-Mana summon instead of spell even though the 1-Mana spell is a Slow one. Or even worse you're forced to use a '4-Mana Recall' just to remove a single threat.

  • New rule about replacing board units

    Quote From BlueSpark

I'm really mixed on this change overall. I kind of liked the board management aspect of having to keep a spot open for a new unit to play if you have a lot of stuff on the board. But on the flipside, it occasionally created very boring board states where you're left with nothing to do if your opponent refuses to kill any of your (weak) units. I'll have to see how it works out in practice before I can make up my mind.

Yup, I agree on both accounts.

  • Am I crazy, or do they still not tell you what your daily quest is on login?

Im sure if they did that, there would be another person complaining they have to click away the quest screen on every log-in. They cant please everyone.

  • First time legend here too! (yeay!)

Congrats! I got Legend for the second time this month, though with the new rank and rewards system it is about as exciting as the first time :)

I made it with Spiteful Summoner Hunter which made me feel pretty cool since it isn't a very popular deck. I didn't think I was going to get to Legend, but this close to the end of the month everybody is playing Aggro Demon Hunter (which my deck has like a 68% winrate against).

I decided to make an entirely new card because I realized id hate playing against grub and so would everyone else. So here's my new one I'll try to make some feedback later but no assurance it will be good.

Congrats OP :) I personaly like these "Legend first time" posts, because I ´ve never been there and it gives me a bit of hope  :P I´m happy for you, don´t let anyone let you down by saying it doesn´t mean anything, be proud :D

For even a slightly above average player (or average player with busted deck?) it's definitely doable as long as you have the time, and a bit of luck on your side doesn't hurt either.

But no rush - took me 3 years to get there, and I never actually tried until this year.  Even if you never do as long as you enjoy the game it doesn't matter what rank you are.

    Thank you all!

I played since 6 years, actually i startet playing 2 or 3 months after release. Most of the times, i only played the quests and a few games here and there, never made the grind, it always felt as if its way to much effort.

but now with the new system it was quite easy to get to diamond five (had a multiplier of 8, because i went to 5 last season). Stayed at diamond five for like 2 weeks, until yesterday i saw this deck, gave it a shot and decided, to do the grind one time, after i had realised, i need a lot games less than with the last system.

now i have the legend, after eigth golden heroes and 6 years of play. haha, i'm the casual player in person. :D
