  • Bamboozle and imprisoned Minion interaction

Had this happen in a Wild match where Wandering Monster summoned an Imprisoned Observer that killed the attacker but came out without a scratch. But it was my secret so I was totally fine with this bug.

Well it's time for Sir Finley to take action. How is your stats, OP?

  • Legends of Runeterra - You Can Now Play Units on a Full Board

Basically, if you reduce the cost of two Zephyr sages to 0 Mana, you can use them to create exact copies of each other in hand, giving you unlimited 0 Mana 4/4s. With this board space change, you can now replace any small units on your board with more of the 4/4s, instead of having to wait for the small units to die first.

  • Legends of Runeterra - You Can Now Play Units on a Full Board

Can you explain this? What's the situation that makes Zephyrs Sage cost no mana? How does this rule change, that obliterates the 6th unit when you play a 7th, combine with Zephyrs Sage? Thanks.

So LoR is releasing a new region with the expansion? Is this something they're going to be doing in the future too? MtG only has 5 colors. I wonder how long they would be able to keep this up

  • Card Design Conversation - Art Attack

Sometimes Blizzard itself reuses art from single-player experiences or their special Arena event, so I think it would be fine. It's not like we're going to give you the boot for doing that.

  • New Demacia Spell - Unyielding Spirit

Does anyone know what happens when you use it on an Ephemeral unit? If it doesn't die, Leveled Up Zed would be pretty funny to play with. Summons an entire board of undying copies.

Yeah, this seems unfair to me. It's basically as if the summoned minion gets a free divine shield. They could fix this by:

    1) Modifying the way dormant works so that in this specific case it would take damage (minions put to sleep by Maiev keep any buffs or damage).

    2) Or removing dormant minions from the pool for Bamboozle specifically.

    3) Or the attack just fizzles and does not happen. There are other scenarios where this can happen.

Thank you! I think the easiest way to improve it would be to lower the cost. At 6 mana, maybe even 5, it would be way stronger. But at that power level I could as well change my mind and submit the legendary :D How do you like that one?

As for the effects, I didn't want to do the obvious and shuffle stuff in their deck that negates the highlander benefits. Instead I tried to find solid effects that go along with the class identity. The point is, those cards already are useful against highlander decks AND regular decks, because every deck eventually becomes a highlander deck if the game goes on long enough. So what I'm trying to do actually is pushing Control Demon Hunter as an archetype with a strong late game card which has a huge benefit if you should happen to face a highlander deck.

  • Standard Meta Report #31 - Top Hearthstone Decks April 19, 2020 - April 26, 2020

I've been playing around with the archetype this week as well. I wasn't a fan of Grand Lackey Erkh (even though it was interesting to finally play with him). I too added Bomb Wrangler into my list, the power of Risky Skipper + Armorsmith + Bomb Wrangler cannot be ignored.

I also question including Imprisoned Gan'arg and Sword and Board.

The archetype definitely has a lot of room for refinement still, and I think possess some potential. I won A LOT more matches than I expected when playing. Even the matches I lost didn't feel out of reach. Here's the latest list I have been running:

    AoO - Hack the System

Wild · Weapon Warrior · by Xarkkal · 6 years, 5 months ago

I'm thinking adding some Enrage package might help the deck further. That was the next step in testing I was planning.

  • New Demacia Spell - Unyielding Spirit

I was also thinking this could be pretty sick on Fiora if you manage to play it by turn 5 or 6. Will have to experiment with this once I actually get the card (I don't think it's one I'll craft right off the bat).

  • New Freljord Spell - Aurora Porealis

I've never tried playing a Poro deck, so I'm unsure how well that works out in practice. But just looking at this card, I'd say it's about on par with Progress Day in a dedicated Poro deck. It's a huge tempo loss, but also huge card advantage. And I'd say 2 Poros and 2 Snax are valuable cards for such a deck, so you could argue it's even better than Progress Day because of its consistency.

Especially if running a lot of 1-cost Poros, I imagine a deck like that would run out of steam towards the end game, so having a big hand refill sounds fine to me.

I've warmed a little to this card after seeing how great some of the sea monster tribe is, but I'm still not impressed by it from a competitive point of view.  I think he'll ultimately play out Vladimir or Shen: good enough to make some fun off-meta decks around, but you'll never see him in touraments.

    Quote From Author
His level 1 is not that terrible it can block against aggro boards the strongest unit.

No man, it's bad.  Compare it to Braum: he's less than half the mana, regenerates, and he can challenge so he even helps on offense, yet he's one of the least-played champions because zero attack is just so bad.  I will grant that perhaps it isn't as difficult as I imagined to get deep in which case his L1 stats don't matter as much, but if you're paying seven mana for a toothless blocker you're going to be extremely sad--even moreso with as many On Attack effects that this expansion is going to bring.

I mean, I get what you're saying but...gotta be realistic for a sec...

Part of playing card games is having fun on your level.  Why does it matter if you never see Braum or Vlad in tournaments?  Just have fun with the card, enjoy making your own deck and coming up with something that works.  It doesn't have to work all the time.  A good thing to remember is that never validate how well your deck is doing in anything less than sets of 10.  If you try a wonky deck and you play 10 games and go 1-9, then it might be time to reconsider some cards or the theme of your deck.

Is it too inconsistent?  Is it too combo oriented and hard to pull off?  Do you find yourself lacking card draw or late game closers?  These are all things to consider.

But if the deck is anywhere around 5:5, 3:7, 6:4, then I'd say just go with the flow and have fun.  I'm sure someone is gonna come up with a buff deck for Nautilius.  I'm hoping that I can start making a "Tough" based deck soon, as I think Tough is severely underrated, but against decks like Miss Fortune which look to spam small damage repeatedly, Tough is going to be a godsend.

After some consideration I figured Alandien's effect is probably too strong for such a weak restriction. I will make her a Highlander Card herself and store her away for future competitions.

I want to keep the mechanic, though, so here's my alternative card:

Feedback would be very welcome and pretty pretty please somebody tell me the effect qualifies!

I kind of like the idea of wanting no duplicates in your opponents deck, but simply gaining lifesteal doesn't seem like enough of a benefit to justify the risk. I would change the ability to be something more relevant against highlander decks. The difference of gaining 7 life isn't enough to make people want to play this.

Make it cheaper, slightly better against normal decks, and make the ability more relevant against highlander decks. I really like the concept, but the card is pretty weak as it is.

Okay forget about recycling my old card, I had a new idea! I want to turn the highlander condition around and check if my opponent has no duplicates in his deck. This will certainly happen at some point in (almost) every match, so the effect won't be useless if your opponent doesn't go highlander. But you will benefit from it way earlier if he does!

The first idea that came to my mind was a Demon Hunter Card granting your Demons Lifesteal. I went with buffing Demons in hand and making the card itself expansive to prevent a buffed Demon to be played on the same turn. I could switch it to buff minions on board, but that would be totally OP in my eyes. What do you think?

Edit: I would be very grateful if one of the staff could confirm or deny that checking for duplicates is enough interaction with the opponent's deck to qualify for this competition. No need to be happy about a cool idea if it's bound to be disqualified. ;-)

"Your Star Bonus is based on your MMR, so that you still get one if you skip a month (or don't reach your expected rank during that month). However, there is also a MINIMUM Star Bonus that you'll get at each rank, so you know what to expect each month if you are playing actively."

That's a huge relief, thanks. You too, @AngryShuckie.

Was this in one of the Q&A's that I missed?

It was just one of the 1000 random tweets Celestalon made during the reveal period. I'm not sure if we ever included that quote to any post either.

  • Legends of Runeterra - You Can Now Play Units on a Full Board

Oh wait... You can exploit this with [Hearthstone Card (Zephyr Sage) Not Found] that cost no mana. You just summon them constantly on top of ones you already have. A very rare scenario I imagine, but when it happens, your opponent will be disturbed for sure.

  • Here's some art, make a card! [Legacy Game]

Some love for mech shaman (if any was needed).

Next: A libram/libram synergy that you think will make Libram Paladin more competitive.

KANSAS - I like everything about this card except name and art. Warlocks in WoW have a spell called 'Banish' that fits perfectly to what the card does… For art I'd prefer a warlock casting the spell than just seeing a lonely guy. Just me nitpicking though…

I will change the name to "Banish". I didn't know that was a Warlock ability in WoW. As for the art, I have had a very hard time finding something good. This art was mainly a placeholder until something better turns up.

While I generally dislike those "put it at the bottom of their deck" cards, yours looks fair because it targets minions who are already in play. It feels familiar to Entomb, which brings me to my one question / problem: why is this a warlock card? I'll go art hunting myself later and will let you know if I stumble upon something fitting.

The card was originally called "into the depths" and it was a Shaman card but the art sucked and I wanted to re-do it. Then I had the idea for the "exile" thing and it just seemed to fit Warlock more. And as TheHoax91 mentioned above, Warlocks have an ability in WoW called "Banish" so I will change the name and art to fit that and keep it as a Warlock card.

Have you seen them all?  I'm sticking with my opinion that Nautilus himself isn't great, but between Devourer of the Depths and Terror of the Tides they've got some punch.  Shipwreck Hoarder and Abyssal Eye look pretty good too.

I think Terror of the Tides is a win more card and will end be cut out from more refine lists, the other 3 are very good but I think the meta will be to fast for this archetype to be good. Maybe tier 3 or low 2
