  • More Teasers for Runeterra's Rising Tides Expansion - Vicious Tales...

He is fat so it's Gragas OBVIOUSLY.

I think the buffed Guardian of Kings is way over the top: it does too many things for (7).

I'd rather give Lay on Hands a buff.

And Imprison is a very fancy design indeed, but as an Evergreen card I think it should cost no less than (5), especially with Subdue already included in the set as Tempo swing.

As others have noted, there is no reliable way to measure skill. But I've noticed the same thing as you, specifically with Demon Hunters. Here's my theory: new players with very small collections can access far more cards for Demon Hunter than they can for other classes, and newer players are more likely to make those clumsy mistakes. I'm certainly not trying to be insulting, and I've obviously made my share of dumb moves, even after having played for years. It makes sense, however, that many inexperienced players have been climbing quickly with DH, because of how OP so many of the cards are, even after 2 rounds of nerfs.

Imprison used to destroy a minion and resummon it once you have no minions, but the current version makes more sense thematically and mechanically. Prison is to keep people locked, not to kill them - so triggering Deathrattles wouldn't make sense. Also makes sense to keep it dormant for easier tracking of when it will break free.

I get that, my issue is that Dormant was not a mechanic when the game launched, so it makes no sense it would be on a Classic card. I guess with set changes nowadays, one could overlook this, but it still doesnt feel like it should be there.

  • New Bilgewater Champion - Nautilus

Only units with "deep" keyword gets the +3/+3, unless I'm missing something, so those sages should be 4/4s.

    You can't measure skill though.

I agree, most of the Rogue secrets don't appeal to me either. My favorites are Counter Shot, Saving Grace and Maternal Instinct in that order, they all got 5 stars from me.

I'm not sure what to do about the "go dormant for 2 turns" issue. I will definitely give them all the same rating since I don't know if one of them knew of the others and I don't see any major differences between them (no spelling mistakes, art looks good on all of them, ...). I would initially have given 4 stars, maybe even 5, but that doesn't feel right anymore with three identical entries. I reduced my votes to 3 stars for the moment but I will think some more about it till the deadline tonight. It's a hard decision for me. Is someone willing to discuss how they are rating these cards and why?

I try to rate it like this: 1 star for balance, 1 star for aesthetics (perfect formatting, fitting art), 1 for creativity, and 1 star to be docked when one of those criteria is a spectacular fail (like horrible formatting and/or art, or blatantly OP/UP). That way, I can always keep a sense of fair rating without being overly harsh over a detail I dislike. How about you?

  • MMR- Matching by skill or by winrate?

We simply don't know how the mmr gets calculated and that's a good thing. Otherwise some players would  exploit it to win more games.

How would you measure skill objectively?

    This.

Measuring skill is bound to too many variables, as in, how do you define a list within an archetype? Error margin would be too high.

More likely, the people you encountered had a good MMR simply because they were playing DH, and getting good winrates despite poor skills or low attention...

  • MMR- Matching by skill or by winrate?

By comparing your winrate against the winrate overall of the deck you're piloting. For at least all the people that play meta decks, there is a lot of data to compare against. And if you really play a deck that is different to all metadecks by like 4 or more cards (just spitballing here) then by winrate alone.

  • Year of the Dragon Celebration Bundle - 45 Card Packs for $30, Includes the Special Year of the Dragon Packs

It seem I was lucky, I got 4 legendaries, one of them a golden Chef Nomi! Sadly none of them are currently in the meta, but well, I can't complain!

  • MMR- Matching by skill or by winrate?

It is mostly based on winrate alone. If the deck is too good that you can pilot it with no thought, then the skill level gets lower.

I really like your changes. They do a good job at bringing some of the cards in line with the current design philosophy of the game while keeping things simple enough for basic and classic. That said, the wording on some of the cards should be updated.

Heroes Never Die should read: Shuffle a copy of the three highest cost friendly minions that have died this game into your deck.

Imprison should read: Choose a minion. It goes Dormant. When you have no minions, it awakens.

I personally would like all of these to be added into the game. Hopefully next year blizzard does something similar.

Yup, those are my only issues with this as well. Except for i dont like Imprison in the Classic set at all, but other than that seems fair i think.

In light of the new Plunder mechanic, I'm updating my rating from 2:5 to 4:5.

Yeah, this card was a bit of a sleeper without knowing the rest of the set, but a continuous "free" trigger for a lot of synergy will probably see play. Unless Vulnerable decks are prevalent which could then just pull this into play and destroy it :o

  • MMR- Matching by skill or by winrate?

I just climbed with a murloc deck from Platin 9 to Diamond 10 and encountered several Demon Hunters who just played badly. About two-thirds of them didn't read the card texts, and cleared Murloc Warleaders or Grimscale Oracles last, after taking unnecessary amounts of damage and losing minions to the extra +2 or +1 attack. One even played [Hearthstone Card (Warglaives of Azzinoth) Not Found] and cleared 4 murlocs, the Murloc Warleader last!

This made me wondering, how the Match making is done. Is the upper end of Platin still very low skilllevel, or is skilllevel just an euphemism for winrate? So instead of some weigthening algorithm, that evaluates how the player compares against decks of the same strength, MMR is just done by deck strength alone? Does anyone know more about the new MMR, and how strong decks play a role in this?

Honestly, i think in cases like "Go Dormant for 2 turns", you should be evaluating each card in a vacuum. More so in our weighted system, where we show cards "randomly", so each has roughly the same amount of view time. You can notice which card was submitted first, if you vote continuously, but if it is the first time you came to a voting screen, you dont know which of these were made 1st. Which is kinda the point tho.

Personally, i rated those cards based on their execution, some of them have a pretty great flavor to them, while some are not as good, i gave them scores based on that, not the "copied" mechanic itself (it was an obvious one to do, so cant fault anyone for that), which i think is fair.

  • Cap’n Valeera

I'm really disappointed for this skin. Pirate theme is not complement for Valeera

I think this is the best hero skin for showing your skills to your enemies. It is very hard to obtain.
