  • Here's some art, make a card! [Legacy Game]

    What Transmogrifier should have been

Next: A Rogue minion with Stealth synergy.

  • Six Solid Standard Decks From Hearthstone's Great Content Creators

It's a tempo death rattle priest deck, not a control resurect kind of deck. Therefore Convincing Infiltrator doesn't fit the deck at all.

In Hearthstone, deck have types, like "aggro", "tempo", "control" or "combo" (you've surely heard these words already) it is important to respect these archetypes when adding or removing cards.

"Tempo" means constant board presence, with bigger and bigger threats, your deck has a rythm, like a piece music, hence the word "tempo". Convincing Infiltrator is a very defensive card that is not a threat at all for your opponent (it only has 2 damage!!!) so it's not good in tempo. You'll see it in resurrect priest which is a control deck (control decks are decks where you just stay on a defensive stance and win with big end games cards or simply with fatigue).

Try to think about deck archetypes and their general strategies when you make your own decks and you we'll see much improvement in your gameplay.

I hope I've been clear enough, if you need further explanations, don't hesitate to ask, in the mean time, have fun on ladder :)

The less you do on your turn while this is in your hand, the better. Patience is a virtue (and also face damage).

Next up, a minion with Weapon synergy.

  • Gangplank is Bilgewater's Newest Champion and He's Bringing Exploding Powder Kegs

I wonder why they didn't use Captain Gangplank as the model for the base version. It's clearly supposed to be pre-Burning Tides GP, but they show him with the shoulder pauldron which is a thing he adopted post BT after his arm got blown off.

EDIT: nvm, i guess both are post-Burning tides, they just retconned where his arm was cut off.

  • Gangplank is Bilgewater's Newest Champion and He's Bringing Exploding Powder Kegs

Isn’t Jagged Butcher kind of insane? He’s basically a Cithria (without the Elite tag) that can gain +1|+1. Hopefully plunder is too hard to activate in early turns

More strong cards for Bilgewater. Powder kegs seem amazing.

  • (Demon) Hunters everywhere (And some Rogues)

Thank you for all these answers! I will tryout some deck suggestions from you. Dragon Hunter and Highlander Mage sounds interesting. I own both Reno cards so its not a problem.

Maybe I will tryout some Priest decks too.

Your help was nice, I like this community on Outof.cards :D

  • New Teaser for Runeterra's Rising Tides Expansion - Who is the Captain?

They got barrels so it's gotta be Gragas!! Kappa

  • What's a deck that can deal with aggro demon hunters?

I climbed to diamond 3 with highlander mage and was about to hit 2 but now im back down to 1 after having 4 demon hunters in a row that I went 1-3 against because the aggro version is very favored against highlander mage. What's a deck that can counter them besides egg warrior?

I was less disappointed in the number of Rogue Secrets with the same premise and more disappointed in the number of Rogue Secrets which were in an expansion that Rogue didn't get Secrets in, without taking that into account.

I gave any Rogue Secret that wasn't from Ashes or KnC (and couldn't work as a standalone Secret) 1 star. The expansion you put your card in is so important for flavour and balance, and it seems like a bunch of entries didn't consider it at all.

I think I'm a little more lenient with my watermark grading. For me, as long as the rogue secret wasn't in an expansion pre-KnC, it was acceptable. As long as rogue secrets existed in the game, I think it's interesting to think what a Rogue secret in other expansions would look like.

The flavor is extremely important. Unless I can come up with a very good reason to stick a card in an existing expansion, I think it's best to go with a custom watermark.

It's interesting for sure, but if a Rogue Secret is for any other expansion than KnC or Ashes, that would make it the only Rogue Secret in Standard at some point in time. If it doesn't work as a standalone Secret, then it's badly designed to me.

I'm normally more lenient - an unfitting watermark would knock a star off, maybe - but when you can only design a single Secret, you have to consider how it would work in-game.

  • New Bilgewater Spell - Salvage

This card is very good, card draw is a premium in this game. There aren't many card draw effects currently and many are conditional.

Even if you ignore the toss, draw 2 at burst speed is quite good for many decks, and if you benefit from the toss and it's synergies it becomes an absolute staple, like on Nautilus/Maokai decks

I thought the same thing too, but after all she did blow him up, sooooooooo.

I gave all of the "dormant for 2 turns" rogue secrets 1 star. Not necessarily because I think they are bad, when I saw the first one I gave it 4 stars. But I gave them all a low rating because I don't want any of those secrets to be the winner. If an idea is so obvious it got submitted four different times then it isn't creative enough to make it to the finals.

  • Neoguli's Custom Paladin Core Set Changes

Have to say that the Imprison card is really neat and unique. But there's just so many ways to abuse this card especially with Archmage Vargoth. At some point you may have half your opponent's board filled with dormant minions giving you a massive advantage. I would adjust it so it has the same effect as Maiev Shadowsong, except it cost only 3 to play.

    Other observations;

    - Guardian of Kings buff is pretty nice. Its pretty much a weaker Libram of Hope, but as an evergreen card this is what I think paladin cards in expansions ought to measure up to.

    - surprised that you didnt give Desperate Stand a second look considering that one of the key features listed is survivability. Personally I've always thought this card to be underappreciated, but that was a different meta.

    - Why not include a card that generates a dude at the end of the turn. Silverhand Quartermaster, 2/2 that cost 2 and generates a 1/1 [Hearthstone Card (silverhand recruit) Not Found] at the end of the turn. It fits your description for flooding boards, and that's what I think paladin's core should be.

    - I would perhaps buff Warhorse Trainer to cost 3 mana instead. At present, its just unplayable. Evergreen sets should be more than just basic stuff.

I agree, most of the Rogue secrets don't appeal to me either. My favorites are Counter Shot, Saving Grace and Maternal Instinct in that order, they all got 5 stars from me.

I'm not sure what to do about the "go dormant for 2 turns" issue. I will definitely give them all the same rating since I don't know if one of them knew of the others and I don't see any major differences between them (no spelling mistakes, art looks good on all of them, ...). I would initially have given 4 stars, maybe even 5, but that doesn't feel right anymore with three identical entries. I reduced my votes to 3 stars for the moment but I will think some more about it till the deadline tonight. It's a hard decision for me. Is someone willing to discuss how they are rating these cards and why?

I think I'll go down a similar route

The initial "Go Dormant for 2 turns" card I saw was rated 5 stars by me (I'm pretty sure it was Sleep Dart). I've left my original rating for that, solely because I thought it was, overall, a well executed card: good art, good flavour, good effect, fits nicely into Rogue, uses a new mechanic well, nuff said. Like you, I don't feel right about giving ALL the other entries a full 5 stars for a few reasons:

    a) some of them lack the flavour/theme of Sleep Dart, and aren't refined in their wording/editing

    b) although not everyone uses the discussion thread to check first, I don't think anyone should just assume their idea is completely original, and should check by at least going through the submissions, even if they don't vote

I've given the other "Go Dormant" cards between 1-3 stars depending on how much the capture the flavour of Rogue, although in future I probably won't vote on cards that have the same effect, so as to be more fair to the first submission.

Sorry for the word-wall, but hopefully you understand my reasoning!

P.S: Glad you liked Maternal Instinct ;)
