Good luck to all the finalists! It's nice to see a nice even representation between all the classes in the final round!

    Rogue - 3

    Paladin - 3

    Hunter - 2

    Mage - 2

  • What's a deck that can deal with aggro demon hunters?

    Rez Priest

    Finalist voting is now open!

Any guesses as-to who's gonna win this one? I may be starting off in "first", but I don't think it'll stay that way :( My guess is Counter Shot.

  • Ezreal Rework Idea

The main issue I see with this change is the potential for it to make Ezreal better with Karma, but even in that case I think this version is still a little worse. Also, the “it costs 1” text might need to be removed if Ezreal would still be too good.

  • The Pepper Thread - Share Some Good Vibes!

So I was playing my Quest Ress Priest in standard and I queued against a Reno mage. I started with my quest on turn 1 and passed. I think, that the opponent had a really bad opening hand, because they didn't play anything prior to turn 6, while I was just chilling.

When their turn 6 started, they cheese-d out a puzzle box with their 6 mana 4/4 and the spell gave them 2x Hand of Gul'dan, 1x Shiv and a Tracking, while they were initially sitting at 8 cards. Needless to say, the opponent conceded, but it was funny how I won that game by doing absolutely nothing.

  • Ezreal Rework Idea

Riot has stated that they are looking at potential changes to Ezreal, since he tends to be a very uninteractive finisher. My proposed change to him would be to keep his stats and level one form but change his leveled up text to:

"Nexus Strike: Create a Mystic Shot in hand. Whenever you cast a Spell that isn't Fleeting, create a Fleeting Mystic Shot in hand. It costs 1"

This way, the damage that Ezreal generates from you casting Spells is at Fast Speed instead of burst speed. Also, because the Ezreal player has to spend mana to cast the mystic shots, the win condition is much slower. The mystic shots being able to hit units also makes Ezreal able to be used as a control tool as well as a finisher, which opens up more ways for him to be played.

  • Here's some art, make a card! [Legacy Game]

    Go ham

  • GG Arena Rewards

Just got the best Arena rewards i've ever had. Thought i'd share. GL HF :)

  • Hero Power - When To Use

Tempo = good. And hunter cards dont do control very well, so its either start off good or not at all.

Face hunter is probably the only archetype that really hp on 2. But there's good reasons why dragon hunter destroys that deck, and hp on 2 is one of them.

  • What's a deck that can deal with aggro demon hunters?

Handlock, face hunter, egg warrior, spell druid, spell mage all have a good chance against tempo dhunters.

Just bear in mind that dhunters are in that unique position that if it draws really well, they can still pull a win from any position and against any deck. Also, decks that counter dhunters tend to suck against other archtypes, so there's that as well.

Its not a joke that the best deck to rank up right now is still just tempo dhunters. If you're making that final push, might as well succumb to the dark side just like the rest of us.

  • What's a deck that can deal with aggro demon hunters?

Have you tried some sort of Control Preist? Or maybe a Murloc Paladin and fight fire with fire? I had great success in the days after the DH came out by playing a Control Dragon Priest. 🤫

  • Quest Trading - Play A Friend!

    Battletag: ZardozSpeaks #11540

    Region: NA

    Trade only?: Yes, you first.

  • Here's some art, make a card! [Legacy Game]

Next: A Saurok minion from Journey to Un'goro. The artwork must feature both the Saurok rider and the raptor mount.

  • Hero Power - When To Use

Unless running face hunter, yeah HP on 2 is too much of a tempo loss. With the decks that exist right now, any tempo loss is game over for hunter. Hunter is really lacking in good comeback mechanics right now.

  • New Bilgewater Spell - Parrrley

This card is so good to trigger plunder effects specially much better than Warning Shot.

  • Gangplank is Bilgewater's Newest Champion and He's Bringing Exploding Powder Kegs

So if he is leveled up and you have a couple of powder keg his attack is going to wipe the enemy's board and deals nexus damage too; having overwhelm means that he can't be chumpblocked either.

He seems a very strong card

  • Hero Power - When To Use

I'm finding that tempo is so important in the current meta, unless I have something like Dwarven Sharpshooter for board control, I very rarely use my hero power early in the game.

  • Site News Breadcrumb broken

It is still a broken link on all site news pages.

  • Gangplank is Bilgewater's Newest Champion and He's Bringing Exploding Powder Kegs

I was hoping for something with oranges.. there needs to be a card:

oranges cost: 2 speed: burst effect: clear all crowd control from a unit and heal it for 3.

crowd control: every debuff like attack down, freeze or stun.

  • What's a deck that can deal with aggro demon hunters?

    Aggro Demon Hunter

  • Gangplank is Bilgewater's Newest Champion and He's Bringing Exploding Powder Kegs

unlike Cithria there'S no tribal synergy and in order to proc it turn 1 you need to play another specific card, which puts you at card disadvantage. LoR isn't exactly the game where you just win off of a medium sized 1-drop

  • Gangplank is Bilgewater's Newest Champion and He's Bringing Exploding Powder Kegs

Bad day for Funsmith and Cithria.

  • Gangplank is Bilgewater's Newest Champion and He's Bringing Exploding Powder Kegs

There was 0 cost "Deal one to the enemy Nexus" card that was released not too long ago. Idk if there will be similar cards released in the future but plunder seems like it won't be too difficult to activate early on.

  • Gangplank is Bilgewater's Newest Champion and He's Bringing Exploding Powder Kegs

I love how in his levelled up art, instead of being surrounded by his crew he is surrounded by barrels. Obviously one is superior to the other.

I agree, most of the Rogue secrets don't appeal to me either. My favorites are Counter Shot, Saving Grace and Maternal Instinct in that order, they all got 5 stars from me.

I'm not sure what to do about the "go dormant for 2 turns" issue. I will definitely give them all the same rating since I don't know if one of them knew of the others and I don't see any major differences between them (no spelling mistakes, art looks good on all of them, ...). I would initially have given 4 stars, maybe even 5, but that doesn't feel right anymore with three identical entries. I reduced my votes to 3 stars for the moment but I will think some more about it till the deadline tonight. It's a hard decision for me. Is someone willing to discuss how they are rating these cards and why?

I try to rate it like this: 1 star for balance, 1 star for aesthetics (perfect formatting, fitting art), 1 for creativity, and 1 star to be docked when one of those criteria is a spectacular fail (like horrible formatting and/or art, or blatantly OP/UP). That way, I can always keep a sense of fair rating without being overly harsh over a detail I dislike. How about you?

That's an impressive system and I think I will adapt my future evaluations accordingly because it looks very fair. I'm new to CDCs and so I instinctively did the following until now:

    1) Checking for spelling mistakes, wording, stuff like that. I really don't like that, a card has to be outstanding in everything else to get 4 stars if there's something wrong with this point. Usually they end up between 1 and 3 stars.

    2) Is the card balanced?

    3) Flavor. Is the card fitting the class identity, the expansion, how are art and effect working together?

    4) Creativity. Can I see the spark of something unique without the borders of traditional Hearthstone completely being torn down? That usually makes the difference between giving 4 or 5 stars for me.

    5) What helps are things I think Xarkkal and linkblade mentioned: what could I do with this card, which scenarios are there to benefit from it or suffer because of it and last but not least: would I be happy to pull this from a pack (especially if it's an epic or a legendary)?

Thanks everybody for explaining how you rate cards, that was very insightful for me and I learned something today. I will now have another look at those entries. Good luck to you all!
