  • Why do people play Tier 1 decks in casual mode?

Invalid Deck IDBecause they can. Will blizzard take action? No. What's left for you to do? Stop playing casual or stop playing HS.

    Easy enough.

  • New Freljord Card - Ruthless Raider

    Quote From BlueSpark

Reeks of power creep to me; comparing this to Vanguard Defender should make it pretty clear. Well, I guess Defender has the Elite tag, which counts for something.

As for the card itself, I think it's pretty cool. Obviously has some nice synergy with the self-damage theme, plus Freljord doesn't really have any aggressive early-game units yet, so this will give the region a new tool to play around with and possibly find its way into some weird aggro deck at some point.

How is this power creep? Vanguard Defender is far sturdier (i.e. doesn't die to Mystic Shot, or any 2 attack unit for that matter) whereas this one does.

This one on the other hand deals more damage because of its higher attack and Overwhelm, but is easier to remove in return.

This card is in no way strictly better than Vanguard Defender so I'm not sure where the power creep is coming from.

Standard DH loves these nerfs. "Bringing Lord J back" is an absolute nothing argument. Rogue, hunter, demon hunter, even warrior can call knock 15 to face fairly easily. Zephyrs alone can swing a game away from a successful Lord J turn. He's not coming back (in a meaningful way) in an aggro centric meta that had one of the best counters to the leading aggro deck (DH) in Sac Pact.

Wild mages are laughing and laughing because 8 spells happens when they're on their way to 6 anyways. Two extra spells will slow them down, and that's great, but it's not going to kill quest mage overnight. Also, we kind of need quest mage to keep Raza priest in check. Btw, Raza never needed to get unnerfed, but wild isn't my main mode so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Also: Albatross moving up one mana isn't a big nerf, just eliminates the big value 3-drop turn for aggro. Anyone looking to dismantle highlander synergy still has a hugely important card available to them that hasn't lost power.

I get the feeling Blizzard is fucking up with Demon Hunter. I get that they'd prefer the class is OP first and balanced later, instead of being to weak at the start, but it's just a very un-fun class to play against. Too few cards in the pool with a power level that is too high.

Part of my frustration is because whenever I give the class a go, I get destroyed. Not entirely my own fault, because my last 4 games I ended up with the entirety of my top end in hand before turn 6.
But regardless of my own failures, the class just has too much going for it: early game, tempo plays, massive card draw and even efficient board clears and spot removal. IT'S.JUST.TOO.MUCH!

  • Why do people play Tier 1 decks in casual mode?

Because ladder is inherently a grind, and it can be stressful at times.

Going for a cheese in Casual feels relaxing for many.

Afterall, what do you care if you're playing memes? You shouldn't care of winning in the first place. Just add some survival tools if you want to meme out before losing.

  • Why do people play Tier 1 decks in casual mode?

to practice them before actually going for the climb? to have an easier time completing quests? To test different builds?

I basically never played Ranked much until they revealed the 1000 win portraits. Before that I just played every deck I liked in Casual, be it meta or meme, because I didn't see the point to enter the competitive ladder when I wasn't really playing seriously anyways.

Basically, some people just don't really think about that because they see ladder as just a way to farm monthly rewards and nothing more.

  • Why do people play Tier 1 decks in casual mode?

Maybe because they’re scared of losing stars silver 9 or something, idk to be honest.

  • Why do people play Tier 1 decks in casual mode?

I am with you, but this is a question that has been around since the very start of HS and always ends up at the same answer: different people have different thoughts on what the Casual mode is for.

Frankly no one is wrong so you have to just live with it until a time comes when Blizz does something about it (probably removing the gold earned from every 3 wins, or the introduction of Super-Casual that does that). Note they have never shown any sign that they intend to do something about it...

  • Why do people play Tier 1 decks in casual mode?

Seems a bit weird. If you've got the money to build tier 1 decks, just go play the, in standard. All you'll "learn" in casual is that your tier 1 deck beats my unoptimised silly deathrattle deck. Which, really, you knew already. If you're trying to work out the deck (mulligans, synergy, etc) then playing in an actual ranked match is much better for you.

I'm just playing around with Recurring Villain and Mok'Nathal Lion - the strongest 9 mana combo anyone will ever see (!).

@DescentOfDragonsOP: as well as what Conduit said, I would avoid using an image of Aya Blackpaw as a token called 'Gang Mate'. Flavour wise she's the boss, not just a low ranking grunt.

in my opinion this is a tricky one but heres what i submitted

heres the token card as well

This should really be changed to a 2-mana secret and toned down accordingly... messing with the prices completely goes against the theme of... you know, SECRETS.

Plus I personally would dock a star for poor grammar, sorry, I just can’t stand it..

EDIT: Nevermind, it seems you already submitted it. I would highly recommend coming here first, so that you can get some feedback. The card has a decent idea, it just needed some editing to make it work with the theme

I hear you. I was disappointed that I couldn't get some wins, I guess.

Thought I could do some easy wins to get up to platinum league by Doing some DH. I hadn't played it that much, but everybody's screaming about it being OP, so I bit.

I must really suck. REALLY suck, because on Europe server, there are only off meta decks where I am. Meta report on this site is...inaccurate.

Game 1: Galakrond Quest Shaman. Lost.
    Game 2: Galakrond Shaman. Lost.
Game 3: SPELL MAGE (yeah, they haven't given up on that). Lost.
Game 4: Switched to Zoolock. Won in three turns against big Druid.
Game 5. Switched to Galakrond Warlock. Won against Resurrect Priest (even when he Albatrossed me for a while).

How is DH OP in Europe? Is it?

Well firstly DH has just been nerfed again so no one knows quite how strong it is.

Secondly that's only 5 games and not enough to draw significant conclusions from either for win rate or meta populations.

Thirdly, I would never complain about encountering off-meta decks. To me that's like finding the Holy Grail and complaining because you were looking for a normal cup.

Aye. This is the problem with decks like Quest Mage, they enforce an Aggro Meta which no one really wants. I want the choice of playing Greedy Control, Combo or Aggro. I don't want to be forced to play one archetype because I am likely to be playing against a Mage every other game. It pisses me off...

  • Fluctuations in meta during the day

try from 1 am to 4am. thats my usual schedule. u get some wacky decks from time to time, its funny specially cause our crazy they are they sometimes counter hard the tier 1 decks

Sorry for my late reply i took out the Pirate package for the 5 Mana secret eater - Chief Inspector or something - and  fire fly x 2

  • Fluctuations in meta during the day

It might be related to what kind of people is plaing in your server at that time of the day, maybe because of time zones, working times, and so on. Which decks would most teenagers play? I don't know, but you are going to encounter less of them during school times.

Just want to say while I like to play with Highlander decks sometimes I hate to play against Zephyr.

Being Highlander is not that much trouble. And it's really horrible to be at the o tj er side of Zephyr when your opponent draws lethal out of hat (or actually Zephyr) as he have answers for everything. Board clear, direct damage, remove taunt.

And even more frustrating is when you play vs non Highlander decks and they still use bith Zephyr and Alexstrasa.

This. I won't go so far as not using him myself so you can rightfully call me a hypocrit, but I hated the card with all my heart ever since it was announced. This has nothing to do with playing well or even RNGesus smiling on you; this is just cheating.

None of them really do it for me, but if I were to choose, I'd go with True Companionship (the first version). A cheaper, but also weaker, Rat Trap.

If you decide to go with Stray Arrows, I'd change wording a bit, right now it's a bit clunky. It should also only trigger when a minion attacks.

I think the card is balanced. Annoying as all hell to play against, but balanced. Interestingly, any minion that didn't get to attack before the secret was triggered would actually be unfrozen at the end of turn. Works really well with [Hearthstone Card (Vaporise) Not Found], surprisingly, since you actually want to attack with the biggest minion when checking for this secret. The art you chose is fine

Uhm, was this supposed to also cancel the effect of the spell? Beacuse, as is, you just give your opponent the spell back and deal 2 damage to them. Which is horrible. Otherwise, it's fine. You could call it "Delay Casting".

Dismantle is too situational to see play, and there's a reason the original Leeching Poison was nerfed. I personally am not a fan of either, sorry.

Generous Bribe is way too strong, make it add just a copy to your hand. Same with Big Game Sniper, not really a way to play around it without loosing your entire turn. The other two look great, especially Spell Duel. That's the one I'd go with.

I really like Another Card to Play (could also be named "Ace in the Hole"). Just make sure you add a period at the end of the sentence, and get rid of that dangling zero (There's a button on Hearthcards right between where you add the card info and the preview that allows you to change the text size).

  • Top Secret - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

Hi, I am trying this for the first time, so don't roast me too hard. To be honest, the hardest part is to find the right art, I suck at it.

Self Harm: I went for the Injured Blademaster because i failed to find proper art. Also, because of a meme. Wording is a bit wonky, I had a "after you opponent plays a minion, it deals its damage to itself" text before, but I have aligned it with Aeon Reaver wording. Not sure which one is better. I was deciding between hunter and rogue secret, but ended up with rogue.

Another Card to Play: Found out that "A Trick Up the Sleeve" name is already taken by YuGiOh, so I went for this one. Art is from battlegrounds hero power:) Card is not just a 2 mana draw a card and change its cost to 0, remember that the card has to be drawn on opponent's turn, so there is some buildaround required - Loot Hoarder that dies on your opponent's turn should trigger it, Coldlight Oracle or Research Project played by your opponent should also trigger it.
