Aw man, I actually think Hearthstone could do an MMO. There's a lot of really cool characters in Hearthstone and their lore would be a pleasure to experience. There's a lot of interesting ways you could experience the universe. You could play as one of the Hearthstone classes, and maybe the spells in Hearthstone could be used as abilities for the classes in the game. Since its a game based in the world of Warcraft, you could even call it World of Warcraft and give it WoW as an acronym. It's great because then you could say "wow, that's a great game". There's so much potential here.
Are we sure that MMR is used for matchmaking all the time? The blog post said MMR is used *while you have a star multiplier*:
Quote From No Author Specified
When playing with a Star Bonus you’ll be matched by your matchmaking rating (MMR), meaning you’ll be matched even more precisely with players of your similar skill level when climbing!
So as I read that, you're matched my MMR while you have a bonus (i.e. while you're climbing back to last month's rank), but once you've used up your bonus, you're playing against people your own rank (and MMR isn't used). So--per this post's example--if a legendary player just sits at Bronze 10-6 month after month, they'll be sniping against beginners like they do now.
I'm sure the MMR stuff will help reduce unfair match making, but unfortunately Blizzard can't completely stop people from being assholes. Because if that's what they are, that's what they are and how they'll always continue to act.
I got in on the new ladder action a little early playing on EU. Id' been so long since I played on that account that I also got to do the revamped returning player experience and choose a free deck. It was a really good experience to be honest.
So freakin' ready for this change to ladder and rewards system.
There was something absolutely insane I wanted to do for this year's April fools day, but it would have taken at least 2-3 months of development to be really good. I wish the time was there!
Farewell, monthly golden epics, your dust contribution was never in vain ; RIP
Considering you can now earn up to 5 packs, 7 rares, and 1 epic each season if you reach legend, I think you'll more than make up the dust from a few golden rares if you can even get to Gold 5, which is a the halfway point to Legend.
Wish they gave out more epics than rares (for example, 4 less rares, +1 epic). With the duplicate system, it'll be easier complete all the rares but much harder to complete the epics.
- from the article, does that mean that currently the MMR is not yet active, so if I start ranking up around 5 days from now, will I be expected to play against genuine newbies (genuine bronze players) rather than diamond players (my rank)?
- from May onwards, assuming I reach diamond on April, will I expect to face diamond players exclusively regardless of my current rank?
- if point 2 is correct, and I only start ranking up 10-20 days later in May (when everyone else have presumably got to their proper, respective ranks) I would actually be facing someone currently in the diamond rank even as my own current rank remain at bronze.
Interesting silence effect which it basically "Destroy a minion for 2 turns, then bring it back as the base minion (all buffs removes)"
Cool, but lets be honest, destroying the minion or normally silencing it would basically achieve the same thing, and those effects aren't tied to a legendary minion.
Could definitely work if you played it on your own dormant minions, but would the meta really be that slow?
Check my posts. The dormant creature retains buffs, so Maiev isn't a silence tech.
I think this might see play in a dragon priest deck. I'm glad to see they are still giving dragon priest some support, it has been my favorite priest archetype since TGT.
Correction: it seems you don't lose stars only on Bronze. Once you make it to silver it seems losses count as normal. Haven't seen any mention of this feature in the rank overhaul though.
You guys should take a quick look at the ''April Rank Play Update'''s comment section. The amount of incredulity and disbelieve may make this necessary. Well, at least, it isn't misleading
syched to play new ranked mode. Immediatly que into big priest with reno warlock. second match is vs a secret mage. suffice to say my experience in the new ranked mode is done.

Everything in the article sounds reasonable and sensible in the current climate.
However, I hope there will be plenty to make up for it this time next year and we're all still here to enjoy it :)

Just a few questions on how the MMR works;
