Now @ShadowsOfSense do you guys determine WCDC finalists by what other people vote on that card or do mods have a final say in the competition finalist's

i dont like that this card is a finalist

its just because of the wording of the flavor text it shows an oversight of the cards design

it should be Battlecry: Your opponent draws a card. Add two copies of that card to your hand

nothing special but its just the little things

I agree, it's my least favourite of the finalists. When you get to that stage, little things like that really stand out. As written, the card makes no sense. Obviously you can intuit what it's meant to do, but on first reading it just sounds wrong

I accidentally picked hunter for my arena run, this will be interesting :P

  • 6 win rewards suckkkk

If you include the per-win XP along with the end-of-trial bonus, you are still getting more XP overall than you would playing the same number of normal PvP games. There is absolutely nothing to complain about here.

  • Hearthstone's Dean Ayala thinks Millhouse Manastorm Needs a Buff in Battlegrounds

My solution for Milhouse: Just make his first Tavern cost 1 less. Just the first one. That way he can go to Tier 2 on round 2 just like every other hero, and isn't forced to float a gold every game.

Hunter is a really interesting thing...

  • The Most Picked Minions by Tavern Tier in Hearthstone's Battlegrounds

Fair enough. But at turn 1 if I was provided with a choice between alley cat and murloc tidehunter, I'm usually skewing towards murloc tidehunter.

As one of the two cards that actually spawns another minion when played, and the fact that brann is up there and alley cat is not, that's my guess.

Same. I've definitely been offered champion trades before my 4th win before. Twice, I believe.

  • The game is so much faster wow..

Honestly I was fine with the speed as it was and find the current speed far too fast. But eh, I don't really care either way, so if makes people happier I won't argue.

  • one champion on expeditions?

I once had it happen right after drafting.

I had a pure Piltover deck with Teemo and Ezreal, but I didn#t really have a lot of Shroom cards so the game just offered me to trade teemo for another Ezreal.

  • The game is so much faster wow..

I'm sure they'll find their way to some happy medium with respect to the animations. Some of the things I'm very happy have sped up are the delays between taking an action and seeing it play out (I'm thinking mostly about the unit drop speed and the time to start combat animations)

Another overall improvement, albeit a bit jarring, is the animation for drawing several cards. Card draw is pretty clumsy thanks to a couple of problems Legends of Runeterra has with layout around card draw:

    • The card draw starts on the left and has to travel across the screen to reach its place on the right side of your hand
    • The cards are mostly obscured if you aren't hovering over your hand (i.e. can't see card names, can only see part of the art)

That first issue always means the animation needs more time than in similar games (Hearthstone, MTG Arena) where the deck is on the same side as the drawn card, giving it less screen space to cover.

The second issue gets better as you learn the cards, but it always means you run the risk of mistaking a card in your hand for some other card (especially since art style and color are similar within any given region). This, in turn, means the card has to do its little pause in the middle of the screen to let you know what you've drawn. Most other digital CCGs have information like card names at the top of the card, making them easier to identify and allowing the animators to avoid these kinds of big animations that reinforce what you've drawn. This made drawing several cards pretty tedious from a pacing standpoint.

Now when you play something like Progress Day!, all of the cards seem to draw nearly at once. This is great for pacing, but because of these layout problems it can be harder for players to internalize what exactly they just drew.

Thanks for that, I guess. You're very helpful.

So far having done a fair bit of testing (but which I can't, with clear conscience, call 'extensive'):

    - One Champion decks are possible but rare

    - I've seen Champion trades on 4-6 wins, but more commonly 6

    - They seem to be offered when you heavily focus one area - I haven't confirmed yet whether it's bucket-specific or archetype-specific, but I'm very confident it's the former because...

    - Certain buckets - specifically one of each region monotype bucket, Braum's poro-bucket and Heimer's Cataclysm bucket - have only one champion on offer rather than the two the other buckets have

My supposition - not yet a conclusion - is that you can soft-force a mono-champion deck by specifically picking from a mono-champion bucket to the exclusion of all else at every opportunity. Note that it won't be foolproof by any means, and honestly probably isn't worth it given you usually want to dip into other buckets for answers.

Still doing more testing in this area though, so all statements subject to the 'oops, turns out that was wrong' principle!

Just immediately answering responses - he would be busted if he went to a 1 mana refresh with no other changes. Would immediately catapult any Brann-centric strategy through the roof.

Not that I'm saying the refresh cost isn't crippling, because it really is. But he's going to need some other downside before just buffing refresh cost is reasonable in my opinion.

  • The Most Picked Minions by Tavern Tier in Hearthstone's Battlegrounds

All of these make sense as solid universal picks - most of the cards you're probably all thinking of are comp-specific. The two exceptions are Tidehunter - which is the best middle-of-the-road pick on turn 1, since it's 3/2 of stats with a 2 gold refund - and Cobalt Guardian which is ridiculously good even as a standalone minion in the early game if you just play one other throwaway mech.

Defender of Argus is the only one that surprises me though there's nothing mind-blowing at tier 4 - some decent picks, but nothing comp-defining. What surprises me is that Menagerie Magician wasn't higher than it.

  • Hearthstone's Dean Ayala thinks Millhouse Manastorm Needs a Buff in Battlegrounds

The machine-gun buying strategy should really stay with Millhouse, it's his theme and speciality. To explain a little bit, if you're playing Millhouse, rerolling is so expensive and inefficient that you're often better off just buying up the whole board on most turns in the midgame, replacing what minions on your board are weak, and trying to farm triples on whatever random garbage you can pick up, because then you get to discover a minion tier higher. That is very important for Millhouse because his inability to roll for cheap limits his ability to find those key pieces to build a strategy around. Having a chance to discover these key tier 3-5 pieces is crucial. If you don't find the triple, you resell minions at a really good rate so the opportunity cost is minimal, and you make maximum use of the free tavern refresh every turn if you just buy up the whole tavern all the time in the midgame.

Issue is, if the reroll costs 1 gold as normal then 1) Millhouse becomes the strongest hero in the game instantly. The ability to just grab any buffing battlecries and sell them back at 50 % rate is insane, and the ability to just berserk roll until you get what you want and being able to buy it on the same turn because it's 1 gold cheaper to do so would make him absolutely ridiculous in both early game and late game. He would also be way too efficient not only at buying minions but also at refreshing. Often, you find yourself in situations where you've finally rolled into a board that not only has a minion you want, it sometimes has two or three. Millhouse of all heroes is able to just gobble that shit up last minute without having to freeze, so he gets more rerolls for free than other heroes (except Nozdormu). 2) If he's able to reroll at the same cost as everyone else, there will be little cause to continue using his buy-all strategy, which is what made him unique in the first place.

    MILLHOUSE REBALANCE

I really don't know how to rebalance him and preserve his playstyle at the same time so I'm going to try something different instead. How about he rerolls as normal, buys at a normal rate but: his tavern ups cost two more gold and he gets triples out of doubles instead. So the idea would be instead of jumping up tiers easily, he is forced to stay low, but compensates for it by discovering the minions from these higher tiers he cannot reach much easier than others through doubling. He should, in theory, struggle in the early game because he has to hang around low for a loong time, but his minions will generally be stronger by being all tripled very quickly to compensate, and he'll be able to discover some of those key higher tier pieces by doubling instead of buying up-front. If he makes it to the lategame, he becomes one of the craziest heroes in the game because he'll be able to get golden tier 6s like nobody's business, issue is getting there. So, sorta like George in terms of late power and early weakness.

  • The Most Picked Minions by Tavern Tier in Hearthstone's Battlegrounds

It doesn't have to do with murloc builds.. it's just a 2/1 + a 1/1 but you get to sell the token so you lose less gold for buying it, also has synergy with some heroes like dancing daryl or deathwing.

  • Hearthstone's Dean Ayala thinks Millhouse Manastorm Needs a Buff in Battlegrounds

Millhouse is already pretty Stronk, can’t wait to see how the buffs make him even better.

How on earth is he "pretty Stronk" if the article literally states he's the weakest of all the heroes?

Personally, I’ve had good experiences with Millhouse, 3/4 games won. So yeah, this is mostly due to my bias.
