  • How did Anivia win that game?

The log can be hard to figure out sometimes. Harsh Winds is my guess.

  • Commander Ledros ought to round down

    Alternative view:

    - There are barely any 8-drops in the game, so stat-comparison doesn't really have much of a sample size.

It's literally 100 percent of the comparable population. Even if you add 9- and 10-drops into the mix, Ledros is still bonkers.

  • Blizzard May be Reverting Card Nerfs on the Next Set Rotation

Mostly I just want yogg unnerfed.

Out of the ones mentioned in this article, the only one i think that should be unnerfed is Dr. Boom.  It never saw much play in wild when it was 7 mana since the death knights are better value anyway.

  • Discussing Vanilla Body Stats

From a physics perspective (similar to the maths one just with greater concern for the real system), the (n/n) + 1 formula is evidently incomplete. It should have an extra contribution for the inherent value of the card, since the cost of a card is not just its mana, but also a card itself.

For most mana costs this value contribution is non-existent because playing a minion of vanilla stats it still meaningful when played off-curve. E.g. a Chillwind Yeti isn't a good turn 6 play, but it is still big enough that it would normally achieve something. But at 0 and 1 mana this is not true, and the odds are high that a late game Wisp actually does do nothing important. So playing a vanilla 0/1 mana card late in the game is not dissimilar to discarding a card. To compensate for this they get given additional stats.

Mathematically the total vanilla stats could be written as 2n+1+(1/n!), rounded down.

Regarding Zilliax, it is harder than you might hope to attribute a definite cost to a keyword. Certainly divine shield is worth more if you have high attack, while taunt is worth more with high health. Part of why Zilliax is OK is that its stats are so low that none of the keywords are abusive, but at the same time it is used so much because it does so many different things just about well enough to almost always be useful. The end result is that most decks can get decent but not crazy results out of him.

  • Which card are you going to miss the most from the upcoming rotating sets and how would you replace it?

    Whizbang the Wonderful

Largely what kept me going when I couldn't make a good deck. Love him to see him added to Classic, but I know that's quite unlikely.

This.  I am going to miss this guy SOOO freaking much.  :-

  • Top Legends of Runeterra Decks From the International Streaming Community

Nice to see someone making elites work.  Those had a lot of buzz and theorycrafting pre-beta, but I haven't seen much of them since.

  • Commander Ledros ought to round down

    Quote From Bystekhilcar

Having considered that point now, I do agree that the Fearsome keyword is kind of problematic. Though I stand by my disagreement on the burn rounding up/down, because again, if you're losing to this card purely from the burn alone, you were probably dead anyway.

I could see either dropping the Fearsome tag or (even better) lowering his attack from 8 to ~4 so that his OTK potential circa Frank's example is reduced from 15 HP to 9 HP--you're getting tons of value from his Played and Last Whisper effects; you shouldn't need vanilla stats as well.

  • [Legend] Wild aggro quest mage

I would normally say don't disenchant it, but since it is golden I would say it is worth it to disenchant it. Disenchanting cards is such bad value, but since golden cards give you 100% of the dust back, you can trade one legendary for another. So, as long as Luna is better than Chenvaala then it is worth it.

  • Will You Be Ours? Happy Valentine's Day From Out of Cards

Awwww, thanks guys, that was a sweet attention - I'm feeling so loved 💜

  • Discussing Vanilla Body Stats

2*mana+1 is the base number of stat points, where attack, health, taunt and divine shield all cost one stats point.

But minions that follow these base numbers almost never see play. Chillwind Yeti used to be a staple when only the Classic set was available, but not anymore. Spider Tank is the last base-statted minion I can think of that saw significant play, but that was because of its Mech tag.

Abilities like windfury and lifesteal are costed differently depending on the stats, compare for example Young Dragonhawk, Thrallmar Farseer and Windfury Harpy.

Northshire Cleric is too strong for its cost, but I guess that Priest being a weak class overall made it escape the nerf that Mana Wyrm did receive.

As for Zilliax, I don't think he's overpowered when looking at the stat points for your mana. But the combination of stats and effects just works very well. It's like Azure Drake in that way.

Is it possible that he had something like Rimetusk Shaman up?

The OP said that he had a "full board" and that all of his units were frostbit only after he declared his attack, so that couldn't be it. At least assuming all of his statements are true.

    Oh, this is weird then.

If the OP has Autopass enabled, then I think DoubleSummon's theory of having Harsh Winds casted on him is plausible and he just passed over it when looking at the history.

If that isn't it, then I don't know what it is.

  • Which card are you going to miss the most from the upcoming rotating sets and how would you replace it?

    The Witchwood

Bewitched Guardian - I honestly thought that some type of Hand, Treant Druid would come about. Sadly, it never did.

Vex Crow - I think it only saw a lot of real play right after Witchwood released. Made for a fun deck when cheap spells would get you a full board.

Hidden Wisdom - Probably one of the strongest Paladin secrets in the game, I mean, who doesn't like to draw cards?

I'm throwing Blood Witch and Deathweb Spider together because I was hoping to finally have something I like to call "Painlock". Simply, a Warlock deck that does self damage to boost its spells and minions similar to Lesser Amethyst Spellstone.

Town Crier - Simply because it's a dependable card draw.

Witch's Cauldron - Simply because of its flavor.

Rotten Applebaum - It's a shame to see this card get instantly powercreeped in the very next expansion by Zilliax.

Mossy Horror - What a wonderful tech card, it's a shame to see him go.

    The Boomsday Project

Juicy Psychmelon - It straight up gave Togwaggle Druid the edge in Wild before Aviana was nerfed. Still a wonderful and powerful card.

Crystology - Paladin at it again with powerful card draw, many would argue that it's the best 1-cost spell in the game and I agree.

Eternium Rover - This little guy has been a staple in every Warrior deck since Boomsday. Warrior made a transition during this expansion to be Mech based and this is one of it's many tools.

Dyn-o-matic - Is your enemy playing non-mechs? Need to clear the board AND play a body? This guy has you covered.

Supercollider - A weapon that allowed Warriors to punish other players for bad positioning, absolutely amazing card.

Dr. Boom, Mad Genius - There's really nothing I can say about this card that you don't already know. I hope it gets un-nerfed when he moves to Wild.

Augmented Elekk - Wasn't too much of a threat until Rise of Shadows brought along Bomb Warrior. Sure, Seaforium Bomber came along with Boomsday, but I don't recall Warrior running it that often prior to RoS. For me however, I ran Elekk along with Archbishop Benedictus while both were Standard legal. Good times.

Whizbang the Wonderful - A card that should either be Evergreen, or have a card similar to it released every year.

Zilliax - Team 5 has a weird way of spelling "Auto-include".

    Rastakhan's Rumble

Hex Lord Malacrass - I was hoping he'd have some kind of impact, but sadly I was wrong (again). Either way, kind of a fun card.

Spirit of the Frog - Great card draw that played on how you built your deck. It only survives for one turn but it still felt good to draw 2-3 spells while casting other spells.

Rain of Toads - I think it's a fantastic taunt wall for Shaman, that's about it though.

High Priestess Jeklik - Still didn't make Discard Warlock viable, but still fun when right when it came out.

Void Contract - If only it were cheaper. Fun idea, but it's honestly a hard card to balance and it's not worth playing on curve.

Man, Rastakhan's Rumble has a short list.

Anyway, there's the cards that stuck out to me the most.

  • How did Anivia win that game?

Well i could live with something like that but in the library where it shows you the actions that happened, nothing showed  up.

Yes i should have screenshotted (thats a word now) the whole thing but i was just baffled....

  • Frostmourne

this is a good lookin card back  however ive never seen anyone have this

  • Molten Core

    this is a cool cardback

one of the oldest in fact

  • The Pepper Thread - Share Some Good Vibes!

Had a hilarious Hearthstone game with a friend today. I was playing Heal Druid and he had this weird Dragon deck. He copied my Lucentbark with a Cloning Device, then stole my Gloop Sprayer with Death Grip which he used to summon multiple copies of his taunt minions. He basically stole my strategy and gave me a taste of my own medicine lol

  • Mark of Hakkar

the question is who was the first person to have this cardback

  • Which card are you going to miss the most from the upcoming rotating sets and how would you replace it?

Damn, it just hit me that three sets will be rotating soon...I haven't prepared myself mentally for it. These are the cards I'll miss the most, though:

Zilliax - Best legendary ever printed. There's no argument against this.

Mojomaster Zihi - It's a shame this card didn't see much play. I remember slotting her into my Even Paladin deck, and she's an absolute OTK killer. All those Mecha'thun decks died when she entered standard, then no one used her again.

Captain Hooktusk - I crafted this before the rotation last year, thinking she'd be a staple in Rogue decks moving forward. Alas, she never found a home as lackeys became Rogue's main thing. I'm having fun with her in Wild, though.

Dr. Boom, Mad Genius - Ah, those Control Warrior decks were a pain to play against, but were super fun to play. He deserves to be un-nerfed, it just feels wrong that Dr. Boom isn't 7 mana.

Zul'jin - Insta-craft on day one, and boy is he powerful. Fun finisher for Hunter.

Thunderhead - One of the strongest Shaman cards printed (the buffed version).

Shudderwock - I just crafted this recently, then Galakrond Shaman got nerfed to the ground. Still fun to experiment with in Wild.

Supercollider - Probably my favorite weapon, it really forced opponents to think about the placement of minions on the board.

Sul'thraze - I'm sad this didn't see much play. I played this a lot when I was trying to make Quest Warrior work, but the deck just sucked so much.

  • Gyong's Legend Galakrond Rogue

i must ask what purpose does the flik have in this deck

becuase i just opened flik in a pack and ive been eyeing on a aggro galakrond deck

  • Achievements not counting towards Quest reward.

    Quote From Bystekhilcar

From my experience I'm fairly confident that a significant number of the 'play X champions from Y/Z regions' quests are bugged and actually increment from playing against those champions.

If that is true and intentional, then it's horrible quest design. You should be able to actively work towards completing your dailies, not be at the mercy of matchmaking to pit you against an opponent running the right champion (and then possibly losing the match on purpose just in hopes that they actually play their champion cards).

I highly doubt this is how Riot intended it, though. Probably just a coding error, as you suggested.
