  • Top Rung of the Ladder - Decklists for the Highest Winrate Hearthstone Decks in the Top 1%

Losing ~400 card to the wild (minus 135 new cards) is going to shake meta nonetheless. Even if the first expansion doesn't balance it out, Maybe the 2nd will, or maybe the last one will.

This is my point: most list will lose only a card or two (one of them being Zilliax as you also mentioned), so there's no reason to say that the meta will shift massively. I hope to be wrong though.

  • The Galakrond's Awakening Hearthstone Adventure Week 4 Cards - Showdown in Dalaran is LIVE!

100% agree. The win condition is having a run where Reno's spells somehow fail to connect. Absolutely pointless and zero replayability. Just want the damn thing over. That would be a tough match-up under any circumstances, but n/m let's give Reno 50 extra health, a head start in mana, and all the best highlander tools. Absolutely tone deaf from the devs.

He's never played Combo: like most of those who play the class, he only want(ed)s board control and value games.

Would you also have complained if there wasn't a Midrange deck on the list? A Combo deck? Aggro?

That is more of a personal preference.

My point was not "this deck-type isn't really competitive in this meta", but rather "Control decks, my favorite, aren't really viable because straight aggro is so consistent and Zephrys/Alex don't encourage you to go down that path".

  • Galakrond's Awakening : Heroic Guide

Paladins (both sides) used odd paladin cause of the theme, wanted to see interactions.. barely saw any.. anyway took me just a few tried to beat them.

Reno (E.V.I.L): beat him with King Togwaggle combo druid.

Togwaggle: Think I gone with stealing/silencing his candles with priest (?) don't remember he wasn't that hard. using Potion of Madness and Mass Dispel.

Rafaam (LOE) beat him with mechathun warlock (hint: use Sacrificial Pact on the imps to gain hp).

Galakround (E.V.I.L) tried many times with big priest(for 3 hours!) I almost beat him with big priest but I hero powered his face (cause I was tired ok..) and lost to 1 hp XD

Tried as well mill rogue and reno mage, but in the end I settled on freeze mage, took me 1 try with freeze mage (add all the freeze card to the deck, alex and also the new reno hero card).

  • Patches the Pirate

I guess I've been charging "out" a lot. I need some patches.

  • My attempt at a fun Dragon Hunter.. any suggestions on this?

I believe the title says it all.. I feel like the deck might lack taunts but so far the pressure's been enough to keep the advantage..

I would say to get this, you need HotS at level 15. Not 12.

Any tips on defeating heroic Galakrond (E.V.I.L.)? I've only seen wild burn mage as a suggested deck but it has a lot of wild epics (same with wild big priest), code:

I've beaten most of the heroic bosses with a fast build of warlock mecha'thun, but it's just not fast enough to the insane tempo Galkrond gains by invoking.

After many tries with other decks I gave up and made good old Freeze mage with Alexstrasza. Only non standard cards are Hall of famed Ice Block and Ice Lance. Worked on both heroic Galakrond boss fights.

Here´s the deck, if you want to try:

Hey there, just so you know, you can actually embed your decklist into your post by using its code : Invalid Deck ID , replacing the DeckID with the BBCode. Works just like the link, but even better :)

  • Heroic Galakrond E.V.I.L and Explorers

Haha, I should have thought about Alexstrasza .. I made it work without but now that I see your list, I see how I could have achieved it differently. Nice list!

    Hmmm . . .

I'm not sure if "quite sad" is a reasonable response to Iksar's post - he emphasised that the top five was volatile, changing each day (this site didn't show all the stats he posted). In any event, we'll seldom have one Aggro deck, one Control deck, one Midrange deck, one Combo deck, and something else among the top five - as long as Control is viable (you point out that it is), there really isn't much of a "problem."

Would you also have complained if there wasn't a Midrange deck on the list? A Combo deck? Aggro? Would you still be sad if Iksar had simply posted a top ten list, with a couple Control decks?

  • Discussing Vanilla Body Stats

I even had to compare a few of legendary cards in order to get the perfect value of Divine Shield / Rush to body stat.

such as Colossus of the Moon and Living Monument. This makes me realize that Rarity plays an important aspect on minions, because I don't think the value of mere Taunt is equal to Divine Shield + Reborn.

So Legendary premium vanilla stats could've much more stats than Common or Rare vanilla cards. Maybe a difference of +2 or +3 stats.

Why do I create this thread, well, I need to analyze what makes Zilliax a 5 mana, had so much effects with a 3/2 body. Being a neutral card is too much I think.

    Discuss away..

Well honestly Zilliax is probably too good--hsreplay has him in 60% of all decks right now, and he's pretty much been like that since release.  If he was a classic card, he'd probably have lost divine shield years ago to make him a little less auto-include.  As is, I suspect Blizzard intentionally overtuned him because they wanted a big splashy magnetic legendary to promote Boomsday and they knew he'd rotate out of standard before too long so they didn't worry too much about how "fair" the card was compared against others so long as he didn't unbalance the meta--which he technically didn't, since he's a neutral and his effect is more of a prolong-the-game rather than close-it-faster.

  • When deck building defies logic

I really meant this to be more about the abstract sensation you get when you try to improve a deck and it ends up feeling worse.  :-P  But since people are interested in the specifics, I'll share.

Its really nice to see more and more stats coming from the hs team these days.

  • Discussing Vanilla Body Stats

The n/n+1 stat line is still pretty much the standard for most cases in my opinion as time and time again we've gotten cards that either has that exact statline or something similar, a la [Hearthstone Card (core beast) Not Found] or Captured Jormungar. The area where this rule falls apart, for the most part, are at very low mana costs and very high mana costs. Let's take the aforementioned Dire Mole for an example. There are already numerous 1 mana 1/2s in the game, even some with keywords, such as Goldshire Footman. These cards are pretty much all bad unless they have a strong ability because they just don't make enough impact on the board compared to a two-drop.  Blizzard realizes this and hence prints overstated 1 drops.

The same thing can be applied to 10 mana cards as well. The only two vanilla 10 drops are Ultrasaur and Faceless Behemoth, both of which are unplayable (despite my efforts to make Ultrasaur playable). For that amount of mana, the payoff would need to be worth it, which a 10/11 (or the equivalent of 10/11 in stats) isn't.

There's also occasionally cards that have a premium statline and ability, such as Kabal Talonpriest. These cards are made to push a certain class/archetype as at the end of the day, even vanilla statlines aren't enough to make a card worth running.

  • Discussing Vanilla Body Stats

    starting with 0 mana

Since there are no 0 mana class cards, neutral cards will be the starting point of formula.

0 mana having 1/1 body like Wisp, basically n/n + 2 random stats.

0 mana having 0/2 Taunt body like Target Dummy, basically the same as above, while the Taunt effect can be equal 0 mana cost. (if the target has no attack). So Taunt effect is equal 1 random body stat.

  • Discussing Vanilla Body Stats

This has been in my mind lately. And I hope there are no similar thread like this. So here goes.

Vanilla body means, it's a minion with no effects written on the card.

What would be the premium vanilla stats of a 1 mana (Class & Neutral Cards) would be? 2 mana? 3 mana? etc.

We did have an example like Boulderfist Ogre being a 6 mana having 6/7 body. that means (n/n)+1 random stat would be the formula, but that does not work with Dire Mole being 1 mana having 1/3 body. this means (n/n)+2 random stats. and this is just neutral cards.

If class cards, we have an example of Enchanted Raven being 1 mana having 2/2 body that the formula above is correct, but this means, Neutral and Class cards is the same regarding 1 mana cost. Tag doesn't matter too, since Dire Mole is beast too.

or Northshire Cleric with 1/1/3 plus an effect would make a 1/2/3 or 1/1/4 vanilla class cards.

Why do I create this thread, well, I need to analyze what makes Zilliax a 5 mana, had so much effects with a 3/2 body. Being a neutral card is too much I think.

I like the details on the meta.

But anyways.. Arena?  no info, really?  We can guess that mid-expansion event is coming, but that's it.  Arena feels so neglected atm, just sad to see.

  • Top Rung of the Ladder - Decklists for the Highest Winrate Hearthstone Decks in the Top 1%

we still have ~2 months before the expansions. So there's still time.

besides, don't worry about it, if the latter is true, meaning, DoD expansion is overwhelmingly strong, I think I can assume the trend is going to continue. The next expansion is going to be so massive, it needs to be on the same level to DoD. Reasons included,

    1. We lose a lot of Mech tribe on next rotations, so it's natural to think that Blizzard would have to include a lot of new Mechs.

    2. Plus, dragons tribe is already crowding, I believe they must create a non-Dragon tribes to even it out.

    3. Team 5 is already experimenting with a lot of new mechanic, like Side-quest, new Warlock card mechanic Chaos Gazer, etc. What I mean is probably "Tech Cards". And we could also see a new synergies worked out.

Losing ~400 card to the wild (minus 135 new cards) is going to shake meta nonetheless. Even if the first expansion doesn't balance it out, Maybe the 2nd will, or maybe the last one will.

EDIT. I would also like to add, Zilliax is so good that even Combo Priest, Hunter, and Druid plays it. And they too will lose it when it rotates, not only Mech Paladin.
