It's very easy to win games when you're still mostly just facing pool 1. New players, simple mechanics.
You'll discover that both cards and decisions matter a whole lot more as your collection level progresses. It becomes much less "just poker" and much more about properly predicting what your opponent is going to do.
And if you want 8 cubes, basically ever, you have to be able to surprise your opponent in some fashion. Otherwise, they will retreat.
Isn't poker about predicting what your opponents will do
Sure, and you can even win Texas Hold'em with a terribad hand, since you never have to show your cards if your opponents all fold.
But in Snap, the only way you get 8 cubes, or even 4 cubes, is by BOTH properly predicting your opponent's move AND also actually winning.
Because if they fold, you only get 1 cube, which definitely doesn't count as "winning" - unlike how it would be in poker.
I don't know. A lot of players will retreat even on an early Snap. There's never a way to guarantee 8 cubes. Right now, I have maybe 4 pool 3 cards. If I'm playing against someone who obviously has better options, I'm outta there If I see a snap.
So when you hit that wall collection level 500+ where cards are no longer guaranteed
The developers are expecting you to essentially pay money to guarantee free wins.
You cannot pay to guarantee card drops. I mean, I'd love to have death. But there's no way I can just pay to have her. I have to just hope she shows up.
People who have been playing since the alpha (Of which I am not one of) have more cards, which is normal. But paying players mostly have more Variants. (And Variants in this game are SO expensive that I'll never buy any)
I'm personally not seeing a reason to buy the season pass. Last pass season, Black Panther, isn't exactly ruling the Meta or even showing up in games.
As for the collector's box. They do have a pattern, but again, you can't cheat the pattern by paying. So how exactly is it pay to win?
Peak privilege is when you have over 100k dust in your bank but still get unreasonably upset that you JUST dusted your golden Forsaken Lieutenant because you happened to open the 2nd plain copy and thought "there is no way they'll nerf this before the clearly busted Illusionist"
My crippling need to see numbers go up will be my undoing one day.
Personally, I think I would have kept Obliterate as it was and swap its Runes with Asphyxiate. Obliterate was a Blood-heavy/Blood-only kind of card to begin with, because only 2-Blood or 3-Blood could handle the damage. Asphyxiate at 1-Blood, meanwhile, could have been used as a way to get through a big Taunt or something for BUU or BFF.
As it stands now with the buff, I kind of don't see a reason for Asphyxiate to exist, especially at 2-Blood.
DK buffs don't seem like they will be enough to make the class a meta player, the nerfs were all expected and in line with what was expected.
As for wild, I for one have had more than one game where TT was on the bottom of my deck, which in wild means you lose, and even when it wasn't, the deck started to get more and more countered by the day, the high rolls just didn't happen as often as some content creators might have had us believe.
Despite the general consensus, the game knows how to put you in your place if it decides you're having too much of a good time.
Only dealing 3 damage to your hero makes this card now a viable additional removal for DK. Before the downside against big minions was to big, now you can consider 1-2 copies of this card if you face a lot of "big stuff decks".
I got them sometime this morning. Just logged and saw them appear. It's just weird to me that YouTube is making a big enough play towards the streaming market that they sign exclusive deals with streamers and esports leagues, but their drops system is so bad
Thanks! Here have a big fat juicy snowball on me (without spikes of course) ^_^

Once again, my final resort was to click on all cards of that expansion, since there seems to be no easy way to only filter out the non-collectible cards. The clue is very hard indeed, even after "solving" it. I still do not understand the 'naughty' or 'nice' reference though.
Actually Youtube drops are quite random. Sometimes there are two, sometime one and sometime none. Btw I just got my two packs now: Monday, 5PM CET, while I finished the 2+2h 1PM of Friday ... and continued to "watch" all the weekend ... on a dummy PC :)
To be fair, hearthstone's esport scene started declining way before this youtube deal even exist.
But more to the point, this is beyond youtube and twitch. Card games are simply not that viewer friendly to ever break the esport scene, so its not surprising to me that its simply 'thrown in' the deal with other games. Games are too long, having 35 seconds pauses between turns doesn't help, and there's generally no excitement or engagement until the very end. Compared to pokemon vgc for example, you can have an entire 2 out of 3 match completed within one hearthstone game.
I dont think the esport scene will get axed, and that's likely because the cost is likely much smaller than we think. We dont get those nice regionals anymore where top 16 guys are invited to the bahamas for their matches. Not even sure what happens next after this worlds, could be just the occasional online masters tours and that's about it. China isn't even in the next one.
If they do end up axing it, the one small token victory that I will take is that bunnyhopper actually won a worlds, that man deserved it. Probably the last of the old guard from the good old days.
The harsh reality is that if blizz wants hearthstone to go back to the 2016 days of esport, they would need to pump a lot more money into scene, and get the productions up a notch. Balance the game, or at least introduce some differences, like a noz rule where every turn is only 15 seconds long.
But at the end I think they'll just take that disgusting youtube money and forget about it, any day.
While not a fan of the tournament meta, the absolute maniac inside me loves long priest mirrors. Anyways, well earned win. Now can we please have some balance patch please!
Looking back at old articles trying to see exactly when the exclusive deal ends, Hearthstone was described as being “thrown in for free”. So even when the deal was made, before viewership dropped, it’s like they didn’t really care about HS eSports.

Im sorry. It was theorycraft after all, it was a first draft that was expected to be adjusted as you play along.

With Asphyxiate. you can kill minions you can`t target with spells. This is an advantage to Obliterate (especially against some Rogues).

I mean, when you remove the toptier degenerate decks from meta, maybe those buffs will have a huge impact.
reading my comment and I was too optimistic believing that the buffs will have a "huge" impact KEKW

All the DK buffs are "nice" but not important in my opinion.
Only exception: Obliterate
