A month or so ago, someone on the BG team mentioned on the subreddit that "double-tribe" minions might be something they would consider adding to the Tavern. Rather than re-introducing Amalgam, they might simply add a bunch of Tier 2 1/1 minions with two tribes.
As it stands, the Tavern isn't really more aggressive without Amalgams - it's less defensive, and games seldom last long enough for "end-game" builds to materialise. Tier 6 is often merely cosmetic, while plenty of builds don't need to level up to Tier 4 until fairly late. I've found it a less interesting game as a result - if you don't roll a buildable build by the mid-game, you can't really stall behind a premium Taunt that would absorb a lot of the damage you end up taking.
Big NO to Amalgam. It basically killed any possible comp built around stats due to giving an easy poisonous minion to any build without hurting tribal synergy.
Biggest nerf demons could get is either move Watcher to 4 or have Wrath Weaver deal 2 damage.
Playing big, powerful spells MUST have an opportunity cost beyond just the mana expenditure. There MUST be an inherent risk.
Following your line of reasoning, that opportunity cost only exists when playing against an Ionia deck. I think that's a problem as it's not "inherent".
No, because you build a deck against the entire meta, not just against one opponent. The existence of Deny is important to the entire meta, not just individual games, because it forces control players to be less greedy in their deckbuilding.
If someone is building greedily, without regard for the threat of Deny, I'm not surprised if that person gets tilted when it beats them.
This doesn't mean you can't use big spells at all. It means you have to support your big spells correctly, both in deckbuilding and gameplay.
Also, I see Vengeance all the time, so it's simply not true that "big spells aren't worth playing."
Yea sure. Because Games have to be free these days. It’s allmost as if they didn’t release battlegrounds ... you know that entire gamemode everyone can play for free?
Back to the topic: Exp is totally outdated and a rework would be cool! But simply getting exp for wins is boring and would be nothing else than additional rewards for gametime.
Achievments would be great to be implemented here! And maybe as you Said, a loopsystem that awards prestige titles or Symbols that get shown Next to your Name?
They even could award „class-packs“. Packs with only Standard priest cards for example. The recent dragon packs show that they can easily customise pack content so why not?
This would greatly Support People that play on a budget and main only a few classes
The deck that plays Deny has similar costs, though.
- Dead most of the game: Deny is absolutely dead until the opponent plays a deniable effect.
- Might not swing the game: Deny absolutely will not swing the game unless it hits a key effect and sticks.
- Autolose: OK, not really applicable to Deny; however, keeping mana open for Deny is often problematic and can lead to game-losing situations.
Deny can be played around, baited out, and -- yes -- countered with Deny.
You know when Deny is easiest to play? When you don't give the Deny player enough reasons to waste it early. Also when you don't apply enough pressure to make it hard to reserve spell mana.
You are asking for something that won't get MONEY to them and requires EFFORT to do. Do you really think they're gonna do it, if there is no profit in it? LUL They are GREEDY BLI$$ARD, after all LUL
Boompistol Bully - 4 - Disruptive cards are solid and battlecry cards are common.
Shadow Sculptor - 2 - Card draw is always great... until now. :D This is just too costly and conditional.
Bomb Wrangler - 4 - Even one Boom Bot will be worth the potential tempo loss of a 2/3 for 3. Warrior has enough tricks to take advantage of this and great mech synergy, as well.
Chopshop Copter - 3 - Good stats and ability but the heavy reliance on mechs will make this too conditional on its own. Stud card in decks that get lots of mechs.
Cleric of Scales - 3 - In the current rotation it is good. When the massive influx of dragons go away it is a 2 score.
Frenzied Felwing - 4 - Shouldn't be hard to cut the cost in half and have a strong tempo turn as a result.
Risky Skipper - 4 - Doing damage to all minions is quite strong. Maybe this will be rough in actual gameplay but this has synergy with lots of warrios ping-type play and with pirates.
Rotnest Drake - 5 - The dev team is really heaping on the insane value dragons. +2 mana gets you a Deadly Shot that drops a 5/6 Dragon? Yogg help us all. Awesome card.
Scalelord - 4 - Strong body with a good ability. A bit too conditional to give a 5 score but it could prove to be that good in live action.
Steel Beetle - 3 - Another card that's likely a vanilla 2/3 for 2. Armor is rarely a game-changer.
Animated Avalanche - 3 - Love this card but it's not going to be consistent in drafting. Obviously a game winner if you get it and have the proper support to trigger.
Boom Squad - 4 - Go ahead, pick the Lackey, I dare ya!
Explosive Evolution - 4 - This is a big jump for a little price. Trade then transform and hope RNGesus is happy with you.
Fiendish Servant - 4 - Quite solid for the cost. Controlling it will be a bit tricky but should be manageable.
Fresh Scent - 4 - Twinspell makes me really want to like it. Requiring a beast isn't a big deal for Hunter.
Hailbringer - 4 - Really strong swarm card with elemental synergy and the ability to freeze big threats while you look for answers. Love it.
Skydiving Instructor - 2 - Not worth it. More often than not you only have 1 or 2 one-cost minions (if any!).
Skyvateer - 5 - Great card for Rogue. Pirate synergy and the stealth prevent your opponent from somehow eliminating your cantrip. Shag off, Cabal Shadow Priest!
Twisted Knowledge - 5 - Slight tempo loss but well worth it when you get two chances at finding a win-con or a solution to a bad board state.
Waxmancy - 4 - I'm on the fence about this one. Discover is always good and the reduced cost is nice but only covering the cost of playing Waxmancy. The battlecry pool is so big you could certainly get burned but should be able to find something helpful each time.
I can see Mountain Giant going, they will probably murder another priest win condition ane replace it with a meme card so IF/DS will go. And this is personal hope: Mind Controll Tech I hate the swingyness of that card in every fiber of my being. It especially with the shaman quest existing..
It seems i cant play any 2 matches without seeing a buffed elusive deck and idk about the community, but it feels extremely boring at this point. All i can see at plat is elusive decks and i feel pushed to play either the elusive deck itself or a counter. I know the meta builds itself and people play around what's best but can't at least some of the best decks just not be elusives? Elusive as a mechanic doesnt really feel too bad but the tons of buffs and them having deny feels unfair. But what should be nerfed? If any cards at all
I am all for sending Malygos to the Hall of Fame. All of the direct damage spells that have been printed in the last two years or so have all been restricted to minions only because of malygos. We cannot have cheap face damage spells because malygos would turn them into an OTK. So, if we are going to stop printing cards that can be used with malygos, why is he even around?
[Hearthstone Card (Leeroy jenkin) Not Found]'s downside is getting less relevant each time the meta becomes faster. The whelps have become a joke now.
As I'm playing wild casual, I haven't seen Leeroy jenkins often. If the standard is having leeroy problem, I guess it's time for him to meet his old (and overpowered) friends (Sylvanas Windrunner, etc.)
Malygos might be not HoF'd, although he does ruins the design rule to make fun cheap spells, I still think its nice to have spell damage +5 minion in the core set. Having him is a still huge downside to design new cards though.
Super cool. I can actually play a few of these. I'm racking up shards from my three expeditions per week. I thought I had cracked the code into unlimited rewards playing those until I realized you're only limited to three.
Why does Blizzard doesn't use the EXP system for something useful past level 10, and remove the cap of 60? It's really the progress and dedication people have been asking for.
Tie rewards to the exp system but ones who are worth it and not useless golden cards you can't even disenchant. I am sure veteran players forgot but you level let's say mage to level 60 and what do you get? a golden Dalaran Mage amazing card 100% worth to level the class to 60...
Make it infinite with loops like in Overwatch where every level/few levels you get a "class pack" (which is a pack with cards of only this class), the rewards in the game are mostly boring at this point you can make people who main a class be more likely to get cards for that class this way...
Sure it's asking a lot from the greedy activision but it would improve the constant issue of the game being too much p2w... just like gwent and LoR use regional rewards, HS can too and the system is already in place just that the rewards suck and the system isn't used for players that play the game for a while..
If there is any systematic change in HS it is in the standard rotation, looking forward to such change this april specially with the rising competition in the F2P territory.
I actually dropped Leeroy from many of my "face" decks because the meta has a lot of higher cost Taunts atm like Shield of Galakrond, Emerald Explorer and Winged Guardian etc. Still a strong card, but I don't think it's as problematic at this given moment.
Innervate should be rotated with the addition that it should be un-nerfed. It hasn't seen play since the nerf and I just really miss utilizing it to it's full potential.
Wild Growth, again with it being un-nerfed. Breath of Dreams powercreeps it so hard now and Wild Growth just feels dead. Un-nerfing it would fit in Wild Non-Dragon Druid decks.
Divine Spirit AND Inner Fire. We all know the combo, it's just not fun on the receiving end.
Acolyte of Pain or any other neutral draw engine. Acolyte has been used in many, many decks to the point where it's "almost" an auto-include. Azure Drake was one of the first cards moved to the Hall of Fame, and it was because it was an auto-include in many decks, why doesn't Acolyte get treated the same way?
Big Game Hunter once again, with him being un-nerfed. I can't recall the last time this guy was relevant, even with Embiggen druid on the ladder he's still not seeing play. Unless I'm just not paying close enough attention.
To the surprise of absolutely nobody, Leeroy Jenkins should definitely be moved because of the burst damage. Sure it's a fun card to teach new players the appropriate time to play certain cards, but he's frequently been on people's nerves for way too long.
Alexstrasza because that much burst is not fun. If Leeroy is constantly called out for out of nowhere burst damage, Alex should be too.
Malygos hasn't had THAT much of an impact on some metas. But I feel like he limits design space in a way because of the +5 Spell Damage he has. I have a feeling that there were several cards in production and Team 5 said "Wait, Malgos exists, scrap it."
Mountain Giant is the least likely to be moved to the Hall of Fame due to Valdris Felgorge having just been released, but an 8/8 on turn 4 because your opponent has a full hand, of most likely answers to whatever you're about to play, always feels bad. I know Splitting Image Mage has fallen to the way side since Doom in the Tomb, but it still felt horrible to go up against.
A lot of you will probably disagree with me which is fine, but all of above it just opinionated.
Innervate is used in quest druid to complete the quest also to play with Nourish.
Wild Growth I disagree, it's a decent choice off zephyrs. (sorry if I butchered his name)
DS & IF I don't think both need to be HoF only divine spirit, inner fire is good when you can limit how much hp a minion can gain, besides there are other hp/attack flip effects in the game.. and they are fine, divine spirit is the one which is wrong.
Acolyte of Pain- every time he is used differently he is far from auto include.
BGH.. I think he should be buffed to 4 mana.. but he is relevant off zhephyrs.
Alex- a fine candidate for HoF (also I get 3200 dust :D but that's another story)
Malygos- but he costs 9 mana.. how many cards are actually limited by this 9 mana card.. think he is fine cause every time he is played it's a different deck
Mountain Giant - think he is been around for far too long.. time for him to move to HoF, it would give design space to buff handlock even further.

So, how long is Deny gonna stay at 3 mana?
What about having it always cost half(rounded down) the cost of the countered spell?
Or you can make it only be playable with spell mana but not with normal mana?
