Yeah played a lot of elemental mage myself today (when the game isn't crashing - repeatedly - )
Have to agree that its a little off the game when you don't draw well, and that's unfortunately most of the time. If you get Elemental Allies early along with a nice curve you feel really powerful, but if you don't you get destroyed, with your opponent's cards shoved deep down your hole.
Not so keen on Animated Avalanche with so many rogues around. And they know exactly when to ruin your day with Flik Skyshiv.
I'd like to apply and help the current team, but I don't really know if I could handle it properly.
My main worries are the fact that my English skills may not be enough (as a non native English speaker I think I'm really good, but I don't know if it matches what you're looking for) and that I don't want to let down people's expectations.
Let's say that I decide to join the Content Squad but then I realize that I can't give a valid contribute or that I can't produce enough fresh content: it would be a shame, wouldn't it?
May someone that is already in the Team and that had the same doubts give me their opinion please?
The article is right. Most of the rewards Hearthstone gives you can come from ranked or unranked play, but the “ranked chest” you earn at the end of a month comes from ranked play only. It gives you the card back plus rewards based on the highest rank you reached, but only if you’ve won five ranked games.
Your Quest page will show you whether you’ve achieved that yet this month.
We sent out a tweet and Facebook post 40 minutes before this article was published and so it was unaccessible. That was my fault since I did the scheduling on this article and for that, I apologize!
Yea nevermind, I just checked and it is ranked only.
No more card backs for me then I guess. My OCD got me to exactly 1000 wins for each class (1500 with mage). I don't plan on winning any more ranked games... ever.
As much as I don't want to be a Doomsayer, this might be the beginning of the end.
Blizzard is clearly turning into a shitshow internally. So far, Hearthstone has been spared from most of the fallout (I don't count the Blitzchung thing because it would have literally happened the exact same way in any other context. The entertainment industry is now partially owned by China, deal with it) but eventually it's gonna feel the sting.
I have no idea how much influence Mike had on Hearthstone for the past year, but it's pretty obvious that the game has improved significantly (coincidentally around the time Ben Brode ditched, make of that what you will). However, the "smol indie company" meme exists for a reason, and one of those reasons is that the hearthstone dev team has always been significantly smaller than other games.
If they're cutting personnel now (and they do, this is not Mike leaving on his own accord, he was clearly moved to more important projects, presumably because he is actually competent at his job and clearly Blizzard is dire need of people like that) to me it means that Hearthstone is not something they'll continue to pour many ressources into.
Maybe the game isn't as profitable as it needs to be, maybe they have data that suggest that online Card Games aren't sustainable. Whatever it is, there is no reason that they would shrink the team for a game they plan giving quality attention, which is especially worrying because Legends of Runeterra is basically the biggest rival Hearthstone has had in a long time, and now would be the time for some genuine competition.
However this turns out, enjoy the game while it lasts...and if you want to keep playing card games, maybe give LOR a try. At least that game has a company behind that doesn't actively antagonize its fanbase (even though they are still a Chinese sockpuppet and you should never forget that).
You should post on Reddit, you'll get dem sweeeeet Internet Points. Commenting on any potentially negative news to say Blizzard is dead is the lowest hanging fruit you can grab nowadays.
Brode leaving left a mark but then again a fair while later we saw more frequent updates to cards that I don't believe we'd ever have if he was still around. Donais was initially trashed for ruining Magic before moving on to "ruin" Hearthstone. Then again we've had an ok run of late.
I'm curious to see how things play out. Could get worse. Could get better. Though given the recent track record of Activision bean-counters and the recent run of other Blizzard titles, it sadly may end up being more of the prior than the latter.
You forgot Mystic Shot and Get Excited! the cheapest cards that can damage the nexus, Thermogenic Beam probably one of the best removal spells in the game in terms of flexibility.
but out of those 3 I think [Hearthstone Card (mystic shot) Not Found] is the best damage spell in the game, it's flexible, fast can be generated by ezreal, helps ezreal complete his level up quest just an awesome spell.
The region's spell strength is it's the ability to end the game from hand, no other region has as many direct damage spells, other regions spells are restricted to unit damage only. most of them were free targeted but got nerfed by how good it is was to damage the nexus from hand.
P&Z are probably gonna get builds further in the meta when people get their hands on multiple copies of Ezreal and Heimerdinger more and experiment with them (and of course the inevitable Deny nerf).
Also I played jinx + draven discard aggro during the preview patch that deck is insanely strong, it requires Draven and Jinx (probably ALL 6) and 3 Augmented Experimenters.
So that's a list we will start seeing probably next week/ 2 weeks from now more commonly that deck is probably the most aggressive one can be so it should counter elusives real good.
Edit: another aspect you totally missed out.. you don't HAVE to play P&Z spells.. that's why you can mix regions so have the hard removal from other regions and the piltover spell lovers.
Some interesting ideas in this thread. I'll share my 2 cents:
Limiting it to only countering spells which cost 3 or less would ruin the card in my opinion; at that point, you may as well not bother. 5 or less sounds more reasonable.
Only allowing Deny to be used against Fast spells is a neat idea, although I'd estimate that would reduce its usability too much. Add skills to that, however, and it might be a happy middle ground. I could see this being a decent way to balance it.
Tying it to an allied unit at the time of cast seems rather inconsequential. Most of the time, it's easy enough to retain at least a minimum board presence. It'd be a minor nerf at most.
I'm in the camp of players advocating an increase to 4 mana cost for Deny. You always need to remember that it can turn into a dead card if the opponent's deck simply doesn't use any super expensive spells; in that case, the Deny player feels pressured to always set a portion of their mana pool aside without getting anything out of it (or having to make a sub-par trade by cancelling a cheap spell).
Well, you know, I crafted Tak Nozwhisker, I thought it would make pogo decks finally viable... I played it like 3 times. Maybe my dust deserves trying a bit harder...
Last time it was Nozdormu the Timeless, at least this one is playable, but not nearly as good as I thought.
I'm a little skeptical on two points, though. Maybe you can explain your thoughts on those some more?
1) "Your table" Match-making / duration of games Say I create my own table. It then ends up in a potentially reeeeeeeeally long list of tables until someone chooses to play with me. Next my opponent has to fully grasp my rules and build a deck which meets those rules. So between creating or even publishing my table and actually starting a game quite some time will pass... like... 5-10 minutes or something? That doesn't sound healthy for the game mode. The bright side is that this shouldn't be a problem for the other modes. But "your table" sure as hell looks veeeeery sexy in concept and might end up being really annoying because of the points I tried to make.
2) New rewards I don't really get the point of the new rewards. A pack token is nothing else than 100 gold which can't be spent for entry fees. And while pack sleeves look like something one could really be excited about (I mean who DOESN'T hate pack rng?), I fear it could tip the scales too far in a pay2win direction (obviously dependend of how they were to be obtained). The point is, you might end up enlarging the gap between f2p-players and p2w-players. Right now, everybody can climb the ladder and get bigger rewards. If you hide those new rewards behind an entry fee, you lower the accessability to the probably best rewards in the game. I don't have an easy solution for this, but maybe we might avoid the problem by just simply sticking to the usual rewards of cards / dust / gold / packs and increasing their volume according to the players achievements. (Side note: that's why european soccer is so boring. The big guys always go to the Champions League and then earn the big money which helps them securing their claims the next season. The only way to avoid this is to outrun the market by flooding the competition with money like the English Premierleague does. I very much prefer the Americans drafting systems and salary caps but don't see how they could be implemented in soccer or HS.)

Dean Ayala is now literally the only Team 5 member that I know from the 'good old days'. Can't believe all others left.

I feel you! I have 3x Embiggen and 2x Golden Embiggen. You know what I wish for ^^
Mine was Mojomaster Zihi for Even Shaman in Wild. I didn't have neither Ragnaros the Firelord nor The Lich King but wanted to have a good standard card... later I just replaced it with an Eater of Secrets.
