  • "The Ruination" is a horrible concept for a card. Balance issues.

    Quote From BlueSpark

I'd also like to point out that, with its 9-mana cost, The Ruination severely limits what else its user can play during the rest of the round. So assuming that you, as their opponent, don't spend all your mana early that round, you should be able to grow back a decent foothold on the board. And if you've already emptied your hand by that point, you're probably playing an aggressive deck that should've sealed the deal before it got that far.

Moreover, the whole point of control is to beat aggro by surviving until aggro runs out of resources, so it's totally fine if a control card is what makes that happen. Aggro players sometimes assert that it makes control cards OP, but it actually means everything is working as intended.

  • What is the Shen emote supposed to convey?

    Quote From FortyDust

Calling these things toxic is the very height of emotional fragility. I can't believe someone who would say that can even stand to go near any part of the internet.

More broadly, an etiquette is a set of expected and accepted behaviors. To build an etiquette around these emotes is just setting others up to fail.

    • Forming expectations about how others use stickers is pointless because there is no verbal component, and they can easily mean different things to different people.
    • Likewise, the belief that certain usages are not acceptable can never be more than a personal opinion, not a shared social convention.

Even if someone made a "Snowflake's Guide to Runterra Emotes," you could never be sure any significant portion of the player base would read it, so your expectations and acceptance of other people's usage would still be based on absolutely nothing.

i guess we found the braum emoter when things go his way. thoroughly explains why emote isnt bad and defends it with his life. yeah im not surprised if you are that kind of guy that doesnt use the emotes as a way to acknowledge your opponent but rather to upset him

  • Are we OK with decks having no champions!?

    Quote From FortyDust

Also, how do you even know whether your opponent has Champions or not? I have played entire games with a 6-Champ deck without playing a Champion. You may assume they copied a budget no-Champ list, but that is just an assumption.

You see each Champion at the start of the match, and at any time you can click on your opponent's deck to see it again.

I'm not even asking for a job, I'm just asking for a conversation, but thank you for the enthusiasm.

I think it's important that we have the ability to play with our cards outside the gaping maw that is Wild. Wild only changes when nerfs occur, and if you ask anyone, that's a problem.

  • The Elusive problem and solutions

I'm sure Riot is monitoring the performance of all top decks.

If it turns out that elusive-heavy decks (or individual elusive cards) are statistically overperforming, they will just nerf stats and/or mana costs.

Elusive as a game mechanic is nothing new. It is exactly the same as flying in Magic, so there's no way the developers aren't aware of potential problems. It's just tricky to tune the stats of minions like these in a brand-new game.

One thing they do in Magic is publish cheap removal spells that target flying units specifically, or have bonus effects when targeting a flying unit. That may be something to consider for the next set of Runeterra.

  • Are we OK with decks having no champions!?

I think this phenomenon will steadily diminish as people gain more Champions.

People are doing it now because they can get away with it (and because they lack the Champions that would fit in those decks).

In other words, it's fine, and even if it bugs you, you will probably see less of it in the future.

(I absolutely do not think Champions need to be stronger.)

  • Galakrond's Awakening Chapter 2 - Hearthstone Decks to Test Your New Cards

About the Elemental Mage topic, I was really excited to play Animated Avalanche because I thought (and still think) it's a very cool minion.
However, as you said, it is too slow and you lack a clear win-condition for playing Elementals with Jaina.

To be honest I'm kinda bummed that Avalanche doesn't have Rush: flavor wise, it would have been really on point (an avalanche that keeps sliding even after you summon it on the board). Of course, the Rush mechanic would have changed the card that we have now (stats reduction in order to avoid a Scion of Ruin type of problem), but it would have been a great idea.

I'm quite sure they tested it at some point, but then decided it was too powerful and so they came up with what we have now.

  • What Rewards Drop From Vault Chests in Legends of Runeterra?

Each rare capsule has a chance to become an epic capsule, which immediately rolls again for a small chance to become a champion capsule.

So while it may look like they are random capsules, they do actually start as three rares.

The fact that these upgrades are so hard to detect is one reason I think the rarities should just be fixed, not "rare with a chance of upgrade." Even when people get really lucky like you did, they probably don't even realize it, so the "feels good" moment never actually occurs.

Paladin is currently tier 2... as a mech deck..

Well about dragon paladin maybe next year I don't think it's the last of those cards..

Almost 4 years ago, shortly after I started playing. The first legendary I saved up to craft was Illidan Stormrage because I thought it would be good in my Zoolock Deck, and I felt it was wrong to not have Illidan in my collection because my son is named Illidan.

Have never used the card once...

  • Are we OK with decks having no champions!?

    Quote From TriMay

Personally I think the problem is that hyper aggro is too easy to get away with.

Other than that, if you wanna miss out on some of the cool abilities champions can grant, that's your loss for building a champion-less deck, and as your opponent, I wouldn't really mind.

theres a control deck that runs no champions tho lately its been added braum to deal with the elusives. i think its fine, and if an aggro deck runs no champions i will be happy to face it cause many aggro deck just snowball when their champion sticks and or levels up

  • Galakrond's Awakening Chapter 2 - Hearthstone Decks to Test Your New Cards

Elemental Mage is still basically unplayable which gives me the big sad.

In theory you have a midrange deck that can draw most of its burn spells for 1-mana, but in practice it's just way too slow.

Kinda wish there was a deck to use the new Hero Power Elemental Daring Fireeater and Jan'alai in a deck that isn't complete garbage, but I guess that's out of the question.

  • The Lunar New Year Tavern Brawl - Lunar Blessings!

It feels like they have upped the rewards, but now they're releasing five sets a year which for F2P is not the greatest. I've definitely pared down to playing only Mage, Shaman, and Rouge.

  • anyone hyped for the wc3 remaster?

I never played it back in the day.  I was at blizzcon the year they announced it so I pre-ordered it that early.  I got to play it some last night and I <3 it.  It's interesting being able to learn the lore firsthand instead of in some random wow quest.

  • anyone hyped for the wc3 remaster?

    Quote From Paragon

The core gameplay is fantastic, and it'll bring new life to the competitive scene, map makers and machinimas.

    Will it though?

I've seen DOZENS of posts/news articles/comments about the modding scene specifically and how Activision changed the TOS so that any custom map is 100% their property (guess they're still salty on missing out on that sweet DOTA $$$ before they dropped HotS). Not that mapmakers are in it for the money - but it has clearly sent a message that has left a bad taste in many mouths. And for competitive scene I really doubt they're going to cannibalize what's left of the SC2 competitive scene for this reskin that frankly has seemed like a lazy cash grab with a languishing property from day 1. They saw how many old games were getting "remastered" and making money, including the flagship RTSs like Age of Empires 2 and figured "hey let's get in on that."

And this is all coming from someone who still loves old-school RTSs and has replayed WC3 somewhat recently. I wish this were more/better than what it is, but I won't let the nostalgia goggles blind me to the sad truth.

  • Are we OK with decks having no champions!?

    Quote From BlueSpark

I also agree with KANVAS' assessment that champions are, in most respects, simply more powerful units than followers which otherwise function mostly the same way. The mere fact that Riot restricts the total number of champions in a deck should be evidence enough that they are powerful by design. However, I'm absolutely against making them even stronger - that would only reward people who invest more time/money to get the exact champions to bolster their deck strategy, and it would make good vs. bad drops more lopsided.

As for champion-less decks, I say more power to the players who build them. I don't see it as a problem at all. Yeah, champions are kind of designed to serve as thematic cornerstones for specific decks, but that should be a general guideline, not a requirement, in my opinion.

Could not agree more with this^
